World of Warcraft General Discussion

Patch note says:

Rules #1 of Vehicle Combat: Always, *always, **always ***take the two seconds to read the tooltips. Nothing is going to kill you in two seconds (especially not that giant crowd of undead that rushed you–they really don’t do much damage to him, and it’s easy to spam an attack while you read what everything else does), and not knowing your abilities usually **will **kill you, because you’ll miss whatever ability you need to use to heal yourself, charge your abilities, interrupt casting, etc. “But he didn’t tell me!” isn’t a valid excuse when it’s right there in the tooltip and it only takes a moment to read–otherwise, it sounds like you just want everything to be faceroll autowin.

This is actually a pretty common “strategy” for winning the tournament–getting a bunch of friends to grief other players. People will not only sit on bobbers, but on top of the person you turn the quest in to. Besides opening a ticket, you might want to consider sending a whisper to the person’s Guild Master–they might not be too thrilled with someone giving their guild a bad reputation. Or they could be an asshole with asshole guild members, in which case you’ll know to avoid them for PUGs.

Blizzard will never, ever tell you any results of a complaint against another user. However, there should have been an acknowledgement that they received your ticket, either in an email or an in-game mail. If you haven’t gotten one in either, and your ticket is no longer showing up as active on the character you opened it on, try opening another ticket.

Your Background Downloader should have been going for the past couple of weeks, so there shouldn’t be much left to download. I had mine go while I was getting ready this morning, and it only took a few minutes to finish.

Nice, my priest is 80 and Exalted with Kirin Tor. And has the 800g or whatever it will cost. Hurrah!

You can ask a GM to tell you whether you’ve done the three quests or not, and if not which ones you’re missing.

I don’t think they’d do it for “hey, I’m Loremaster and wanna know every single quest I’m missing, thxbye”…

The flight trainers don’t have faction discounts, do they?

Now they do!

I forgot to fire it up this morning, so I’ll have to do it tonight. I have enough money for regular flying on my hunter so I think I will buy it for her and finish up Outland things. I had barely explored Shadowmoon Valley, and only gotten to Netherstorm for a flight point, and there’s lots left for me to do in Outland besides that. I think I should get some decent use out of flying there while I’m getting enough money for Cold Weather Flying.

I was trying to save villagers while on a flying critter, but I put that quest aside, as they run so fast it’s hard for me to save them. I think I will try it again when I have a little more flying experience so that I know better how to control the birdie. I had a lot of fun last night doing an Explorers’ League quest where you get inside a metal golem and control it. I especially liked the part where you rocket-jump off runes.

Oh, good! 3.2! New druid models, finally!
Oh, damn! I didn’t think to start up the download before I went to work, despite thinking last night before I went to bed “I think the patch comes out tomorrow”…

Thank you that makes sense. One problem with grouping is I occasionally have an odd quest item in my bags that I have no idea what it is for as often it is a consumable that I didn’t have to use to complete the quest.

Another amusing story related to that: Slightly before Burning Crusade, my mage got a quest that required a lot of gathering in order to defeat a big nasty demon. I finished the gathering and got one of my level 60 buddies to help me fight it, and we got smoked. I knew BC was coming out soon, so I told him, “We’ll wait til we’re 70, then come back and get some payback.”
Well, I forgot about the quest. Finally, at level 80, I decided to give it another shot, solo. I go to the Blasted Lands, summon the demon, and… It starts wiping the walls with me. I mean, it’s not doing a LOT of damage, but I’m doing NO damage to it. I summon my water elemental (good thing I was frost-specced that week) and elemental pounds the tar out of him, end of quest.
I look back on it a day later, and realize… The demon is (supposedly) invulnerable until I use the quest-hunted item that, well… Is still in my bank. D’oh!

That’s correct. There was one time where I was stuck in Icecrown and thought something had bugged out–it turned out that the one quest I needed to continue was given by an NPC inside of a cave (that I’m pretty sure I was in before and he wasn’t offering it then) so I could fly right over it and not see the “!”–and the GM had to get permission from a head GM to tell me what quest to go look up.

You can always go to a site like Wowhead to look these items up and see if they’re required for anything.

I think I know exactly what you’re talking about–I just did that quest chain on my 50 Mage with the help of a friend on a 72 Priest. The problem is that he’s immune to all schools of magic except Arcane and is also immune to all DOTs and debuffs. We were only able to get through the quest after the Priest went Discipline and kept himself bubbled and healed while he hammered away at the guy with his weapon. (I stood out of the way and kept Arcane Missiles going… which mostly missed, with maybe one partially resisted hit out of every 10 or so.)

Yay, indeed! Druid one (my main) is all black, so will have the black forms (not that he ever enters them…he’s resto/balance). Druid two (my feral druid) is all white, so will get the polar bear/kitty skins  I really need to get him the T4 outfit sometime…he has only white mounts, too

Also yay for: new raptor non-combat pets, new Argent Tourney stuff for those with the “Crusader” title, a Gorloc pet!, and (finally!) the Ravasaur mount.

After downloading the new patch, I 'm seeing this flashing message, which has been flashing for a long time (5 min). Will I screw things up if I x out of it?

Thanks

Quasi

Hard to answer since you forgot to tell us what the message says.

The bolded text above the part of his post you quoted, wouldn’t you say?

Problem solved. Just got a message saying “Update was successful”!

Whew! Glad i have you guys to keep me out of trouble!

Thanks!

Quasi

Speaking of the ravasaur the patch notes say:

"The ravasaur trainer Mor’vek has returned to Un’Goro and will offer to help Horde players raise and train a Venomhide Ravasaur as a mount… if they can survive the creature’s deadly poison. "

What do you think they mean by “raise and train”? A quest chain to raise it from a baby to an adult and maybe a quest to where you do something to become immune to the poison, or what?

I don’t think they put those two words in there if all you did was just go to the guy and give him some gold.

Anyways I’m excited and con’t wait until I get off work to check out all the new stuff.

No, no, that’s too obvious for me, if it isn’t in the actual post it doesn’t exist. :smack:

Mogle:

:D:D:D:D:D

Did you forget you’re talking to the “king” of screwing up?

NP, Kumpel, NP!

And thanks very much for all your help and advice!

If it weren’t for you and the others, I’d still be killing kobolds in Elwynn!

And wondering why I’m not gettin’ any XP by killing baddies 6 levels lower than me! :smack::smack::smack:
It’s great having you guys to help me out!

Quasi
