That’s 3PM PST, so 6PM EST. So only about an hour now.
I’ve got the realm status page up on my other monitor, patiently waiting for the red arrows to turn green. Me? A junkie? Never!
I’m just really anxious to play the new battleground!

It will probably be something similar to the alliance equivalent, ie do a couple of repeatable quests a few hundred times.
The real questions are the same as with any other large patch: How long will it take before the servers are stable, how many addon will the patch break and how long will it take me and 10 million other players to download the updated versions from Curse. Ah well, I guess I’ll find out tomorrow.
KK,** EC**, that makes me feel better!
Will my level 36 warrior notice any VISUAL changes? I read the part about the dodge, yells, and shield block. Just was wondering about the terrain?
Thanks

This is the Horde version of the Wintersaber, which is a long, long, long, nasty rep grind. Expect the same.
Nope, not much is going to look different to you, unless you go by a Druid who’s in Bear or Cat form. There will be some new stuff at the Argent Tournament grounds in Icecrown, but that’s a long way away for you yet.
As I understand it, you have to get poisoned – a lot (~2,000 times) – by ravasaurs (apparently something of an issue in itself for 80s, seeing as how sneezing in a ravasaur’s direction at that level will usually kill them). The “raise and train” part comes in afterward, wherein you get a summonable baby ravasaur (not a vanity pet, but a “quest” pet, similar to the Sholazar Basin Gorlocs / Wolvars for those dailies) which gives you a daily quest to feed it bug meat. You have to collect baby teeth in the process (need 20 baby teeth, at a rate of 1 per day). There are some other needed mats, but that’s the gist of the “raise and train” and “immunity to poison” parts. The lore is, I suppose, that the baby guy you feed for 20 days grows into your mount.
Some relevant quests at Wowhead:
Toxic Tolerance
Venomhide Eggs
They Grow Up So Fast
Those are PTR versions of the quests…I don’t know if those are the versions that make it into live today.
Do you not need to refresh occasionally? Or do you use Opera?
As far as I can recall, they update themselves dynamically. Probably AJAX or something like that.
Ah, thanks for the info.
Ah, I see. In fact right now about 20 servers are up.
Yup. Updated automagically. And as I type this my realm just went live!
Well, I have to get my INR done and my warfarin 'script filled on the way home today, so with any luck Borean Tundra will be live by the time I get back to my apartment, if it isn’t already.
Oh, I agree. I guess my “complaint” is about consistency, in that most questgiver’s tell you what you need to know before you start the quest. In any case, even after reading the tooltip, I still had no idea what was meant by “storm cloud” (or whatever the term was). It actually wasn’t until later, when I was doing something else unrelated to the quest, that I happened to inadvertently pass my mouse over one of the clouds in question and spotted the tooltip that said “Storm Cloud”. I would never have figured that out if I hadn’t just happened to mouse over the thing or looked it up on WowHead. See, the way my brain works, I don’t picture a “storm cloud” being a little puff of mist floating around all by itself at ground level.
I wonder if the griefing was the reason this week’s contest took twice as long to come up with a winner as it has in my previous attempts. In my previous attempts, the winner was announced within about 15 minutes of the contest starting, but this time it was closer to 30 minutes.
I did finally get a response, both in my in-game e-mail and my regular mail.
Were they a bit late getting the patch thing started today? I had to leave for work a bit after 7:00AM and thought I’d see if it was patch day, but got nothing when I launched the game. I tried again when I got home, and now it was going.
The background downloader has been going for a while. My guess is that you had all the content that they’d already released when you left for work this morning… but they’ve made changes since then as issues have popped up as they’ve attempted to push the patch onto the live realms.
Oh yeah, got myself 30 quests closer to Loremaster of Kalimdor (so now I’m at 332/700) by running around Darkshore and a bit into Ashenvale. I actually took the time to explore clear into the farthest northern tip of Darkshore, someplace I’d never been. It was kinda cool up there, with a spectacular view of the ocean with Teldrassil in the distance. I also grouped with a lvl 15 nelf druid and helped him with some quests. Being grouped with me, he got the benefit of my max-level Retribution Aura, and got quite a kick out of the way mobs would hit him and fall over dead
I’m sitting at 644/700 on Loremaster of Eastern Kingdoms, and I’m really wishing Blizzard would get this instance issue fixed. I’ve got a pile of Gnomeregan and BFD quests in my log, and haven’t been able to get into either one. I’m getting especially annoyed about BFD, just because it takes so frackin’ long to get there, even for a lvl 80. I’ve made the trip five times now, and gotten the “unable to launch additional instances” message every time.
Has anyone figured out how to get the Objectives window to move, or change it’s size, or (preferably) go away?
I looked all over the Interface options and couldn’t find it anywhere, and clicking on it’s frame yields no results.
If you mean the window that lists the quests on the right of your screen, there should be an option to make the objectives window interactive. Then you can right click the frame and unlock it to make it move or resize or whatever.
At work so I can’t doublecheck the UI to make sure where the exact option is. I think it’s probably in the same place they put the talent change preview option, but it’s been a while.
There is an option under Display about "Display World PvP Objectives, with 3 settings (Always, Dynamic, and Never) but checking never doesn’t disappear the box from my screen.
ETA: Found it. And it sucks.
There’s a new category “Objectives” in the Interface Options, but there is no way to get the Objectives window gone from your screen. You can shrink it to a bar that just says “Objectives” but that’s it. No way to close it.

My server continues to be one of the red-headed stepchildren; it’s nearly always among the last to go back online after a patch/maintenance period.
[nitpick]
It’s not a new category.

Cairne is up but the realm I play most characters on, Kirin Tor, isn’t yet, and when I checked out my one character on Cairne, my addons looked borked. Off to find a fix.
