World of Warcraft General Discussion

Yes, that’s the best way to do it, I think. Or you could do a /who Burning Dog Legion and see who’s on.

I didn’t mean to suggest that you didn’t read the thread, though I certainly wouldn’t have blamed you for not doing so…it’s a monster!

So to speak!

Hope to see over there Goblinboy!

Got invited by Rheingaard to BDL, and now I’m just like the rest of you cute, furry babies with the long teeth and unabrows!

Thanks for letting me join and see y’all soon!

Well, it seems to me that there’s a big difference in trying to offend everyone equally, and trying not to offend everyone equally. I could be wrong, though.

It depends on how the stereotyped group reacts to it. Jamaicans probably don’t know and don’t care about the trolls, for example, but China’s government has a major stick up its ass and would raise holy hell at an Asian stereotype, even if it was no worse than others in the game.

:confused::):confused::):confused::slight_smile:

Hmmmmm. Can I get back to you on that one, Tel?

J/K!

And Boss’s reply, too, is valid. I just hadn’t thought it all the way through.

Apparently! :D:D:D

But, if I may be allowed to dig myself in a little “deeper”?:smack:

Those who play WoW in say, Germany, they “hear” their NPC’s etc. in German, right?

How do THEY handle different “regionalities/cultures” or is it even an issue?

Thanks

A quick search on Wow-heroes.com shows that a pretty large percentage of top guild hunters on my server are survival.

Of course, Blizzard could just make the pandaren all gold farmers…

I think I saw an interview where some Blizzard representative says that they are going to try to make boss encounters more C oriented and make CC useful for trash pulls.

I’ve been resto/feral for a little while and the problem is that while feral DPS and feral tanks have very similar talent trees, there are some serious differences.

I ultimately chose to go resto/DPS with a set of tanking gear. The reason is that there are very few raid encounters when you need or want to trade off healers for an off spec tank (unless your guild is in the almost unheard of position of having too many healers) but there are plenty of situations where you may want to trade off a healer for an off spec DPS.

Of course it is nice for an offtank to be able to go DPS after you have burned down the offtank mob but it is also nice to have an OH SH!T button for the raid when a tank goes down and the healers need someone to absorb damage just long enough to battlerez one of the “real” tanks.

Have you thought about going resto/boomkin? I know a lot of folks that are happy with that combo.

It’s a thought, but I figured I’d hang onto Feral as a solo spec. I know I did try leveling Balance 10-20 and got tired of it quickly, but endgame Balance might certainly be a different beast. I’ll have to look into it when I get there. For now, I’m a very happy level 33 cat.

I just told my wife that I might need to go “resto-boomkin”, and she just said, “Okay, but remember to flush this time!”

Og! You kids and your terminology!

I’ll go to my grave with a list of all the things I don’t understand about WoW!

Thanks

Q

Yay! Just call me Master Angler of Stranglethorn!

40 Tastyfish in just over 16 minutes  I somehow managed to have Yojamba Isle almost entirely to myself.

The best part is … no more entering the fishing contest!

I also fished up one of the rare tournament fish; naturally it was the same one I fished up before, so now I have two pairs of Nat Pagle’s Extreme Anglin’ Boots :smack:
In other news, I’ve officially dropped Mining and am in the process of leveling Enchanting. Would you believe I found knuckleheads selling stacks of saronite bars for 20g on the AH? They vendor for 25g …

Yep its automatically maxxed.

Getting defense capped is to eliminate crits. Druids have a talent that makes them uncritable so they don’t have to worry about defense.

Congratulations! I’m green with envy :stuck_out_tongue:

Trying to get that water survey quest done in Gadgezan, and got killed?

So I go the spirit healer and accept all her stuff?

Then sit down to relax/mana up and wait out the 10 minutes?

And STILL get attacked???

And die all over AGAIN???

So, hell, I just hearthed out to Heather in Sentinel Hill.

Me and Wolkie don’t need this shit!

So I guess even graveyards aren’t safe anymore, huh?

Major grats! One of these days, I’ll have to enter that contest again. I just have bigger, er…fish to fry…at the moment…

Speaking of which, I finally managed to find a few hours’ play time this past week, so have been able to get up to half-way through revered with Zandalar (made a run-through ZG with a friend), and 25% of the way through revered with Ravenholdt. I could power my way to exalted with both factions IF I had a full weekend to play, which won’t happen for a while, I’m sure. So I’ll just have to take an hour here or there when I can find it. I’ve found that I can earn about a bar’s worth of rep for Ravenholdt each hour or so, so I’ve got about 15 more hours worth of pick-pocketing to go with them. Not as bad as I thought it would be, really.

Massive multi-quote post from SFG? Must be Monday!

I can, and that’s now going to be my mental picture anytime one of my chars has to flee combat.

When you’re looking at weapon or offhand stats, you always want to look at them as you will have them equipped. A two-handed sword is always going to better than a one-handed sword of the same quality and level, because when you have a 2H weapon equipped, you can’t hold anything else.* So don’t think of it as “2H sword vs. 1H sword,” think of it as “2H sword vs. 1H sword PLUS shield, or PLUS another 1H sword.”

Since Wolkie specced into Protection, you want to keep a 1H weapon (preferably a sword or a mace, since you’re Human) and a shield.

*Unless you’re a Fury Warrior with the 51-point talent Titan’s Grip.

:smack: I see where you’re coming from, then. I had the mistaken impression that you were arguing **for **that kind of focus (with regard to Hit) rather than against it.

It is physically impossible for you to attack a friendly target out in the world without first having one party issue a duel challenge and the other party accept. Your targeted attacks will not trigger, and your AOE attacks (like Thunder Clap) will go off, but will not affect the friendly player in any way.

So annoying. **SO **annoying. I hate autograts addons with a passion that exceeds the heat of a thousand billion suns. Ugh, ugh, ugh, ugh, ugh.

Draenei are supposed to be Indian? Really? I never got that at all. I mean, yeah, the males got the “Tunak Tunak Tun” dance, but so what? Their accent doesn’t sound the least bit like something you’d get from a native speaker of Hindi or Urdu or anything else you might find in India–always sounded like some mangled combination of Greek and Russian to me.

Woohoo! I don’t get on very much, but I have a Troll Hunter named Hasati, and a Blood Elf DK I use for farming mats/making money named Getpaid. Hope to see you there sometime!

IRL LOL FTW

That’s what my pocket healer has, and he likes it. There’s also a much bigger initial overlap in gear. (You can start out as Boomkin using your Resto set, but you can’t start out Feral using your Resto set. You’ll still need to expand it because there are some different stats–Hit, for example–but at least the Int, SP, etc. will still do you good.)

Resto/boomkin: A Druid that has Restoration (healing) as its primary talent spec, with Balance (ranged DPS) as its secondary spec. Balance druids have a talent that allows them to shapeshift into Moonkin form, which allows them to do more damage. This gives them the nickname “Boomkin.”

Usually they’re safe, but sometimes they’ll have a mob parked on 'em. No fun. :frowning:

Side note: I’ve seen you refer to having Wolkie “mana up” a couple of times–Wolkie doesn’t actually have any mana. Mana is the blue bar that casters and Hunters have. Warriors use Rage instead (and we start with an empty bar).

Woohoo! Well done, sir.

I’ve been led to understand that the Tunak Tunak Tun video is Turkish … I have recently discovered, however, that the guy is actually singing in English

*In your yard I am the Ferengi man, very odd and chunky!

Sue the guard up the lake. There’s sawdust and pizza, Yoda.*

Didn’t you also win the fishing contest recently? I couldn’t believe the way my heart was pounding when I was at 38 fish, no winner had been announced, and there was another school 20 yards away. Then I got that 40th fish, hit my hearthstone, and then my heart was pounding even harder as I ran out of the inn and saw that there was nobody else anywhere near the turn-in guy.

And no mammoth parked on top of him :stuck_out_tongue:
