My human pally has been sitting at 100/115 for that one forever. She has the Wanton Warlord quest to kill Grom’thar the Thunderbringer, but hasn’t gotten around to finding a group to take him down yet. Other than that she hasn’t even been able to find any more quests there (she hasn’t done the Wrathgate quests because they haven’t been offered, as far as I can tell).
Then there are those occasions where my lvl 80 will run somebody through an instance, and I’ll pass on everything just because all the gear is completely useless to me and I figure the lowbie can use the gold more than me.
As for my lvl 66 belf paladin … big thanks to guildie Muzungu for running Stratholme with me so I could finish the lvl 60 paladin quest chain! I’m now the proud owner of a ridiculously expensive tabard:
Really, ever since they made the Charger trainable at lvl 61 and even more so now that a pally can buy it at lvl 40, the tabard and the Charger achievement are the only reasons left to do that chain, which mostly involves spending large sums of money. But dammit, that’s a cool-looking tabard
Good to know. I got pugged into my first raids this past weekend – TOC10 and EOE10.
In TOC10, we had trouble with the snobolds. Got to the frostwyrms once – then the OT quit to go hang with their friends and the group disintegrated. That was kind of scary for me since most other people were noticeably better geared than me plus the RL kicked a lock in 4 blues – but I turned in decent performance so I felt a bit better.
Then I got pugged into EOE10 with a guild that I know, so I felt much more confident about admitting that I didn’t have vent and would someone bullet point the fights for me in chat plzkthx. We wiped a few times until we got the fights down – I died twice, both in P3, once to me being too slow to hit the /follow button (we were stacking everyone on the RL) and once to a mount bug. Damage was only okay there, but to be fair, most of P2 and P3 don’t use pet damage, so. It’s a pretty cool instance regardless, and I’m glad I got to see the inside of the place.
This. It makes me wonder when someone consistently passes up stuff – I mean, yeah, you can’t use it, but it’s free g that way. I don’t know anyone on my server who would be annoyed about greeding on something you can’t use.
Oh well. When I satrted playing, “Hun-tard” was still a common taunt, unless I was playing perfectly with no mistakes ever. I never got party invites and had few friends. That’s actually why I stopped playing, actually.
Yup, that’s pretty standard. If you’re running someone through an instance, all of the drops go to them. (It also gives them something to do–put the loot on Free For All and let them wander around looting corpses.)
I actually have mine bound to function keys. I think I ran with a group once that killed X first, then Skull… Crazy mofos.
FWIW, I go Skull>X>Circle, trap the Square, sheep the Moon, Sap the Diamond, Banish the Triangle, Shackle the Star. 'Course that only works if you’ve only got one of each, which may not always be the case. On the Ulduar trash that needs to get CC’d, for example, it’s not unusual for us to have more than one Banish or Polymorph. These days, I tend to mark more on a case-by-case basis than reserve a particular symbol for a given CC.
As you can see from some of the current discussion, most of the Huntards have moved onto playing DKs. So, luckily for you, the people left playing Hunters are mostly those who were actually good at it and/or just plain enjoyed the class.
Yeah, that’s starting to sound familiar. On Planetside, which had three opposing sides, there was a segment of the playerbase commonly called the Fourth Empire. These were the people who had no allegiance to any of the sides and would play whichever one was deemed to be OP at the time. On City of Heroes, depending on current balance certain builds are classified Flavor Of The Month and a similar segment of the playerbase would play whatever was FotM.
Most serious players look down on these people, since they’re viewed as lazy facerollers. That’s most likely what I’m seeing with DKs; they’re the flavor of the month and the dregs of the playerbase are the majority of the DKs.
1500 gold later, my Paladin is now dual-specced Ret/Prot. I’ve been waffling on whether I should make the second spec Holy or Prot, and a failed group for the Amphitheater of Anguish tipped me over to Prot. It helped that I happened to have a decent tanking chest piece from riding on the Storm Giant’s shoulders in Zul’Drak. (Fun, if a little aggravating due to the POV and inconsistent storm cloud usage.) It works, I figure, since my Druid is Resto/DPS, to have my Pally be Tank/DPS. Now I just need to go skill up in 1H Axes…
Grats and dammit that is a cool looking tabard I’ll never get
I can see it gets complicated and must be tough with some PUGS to get right.
Grats! I am saving up for dual spec at the moment I want to go prot\holy. Keeping hold of a few +spellpower quest rewards from HP so I can have a half decent holy set which I’ll probably only use to run guildies through lower level instances.
Well we got Yogg down to 13% in 25s last night. And in a move quite uncharacteristic, our raid leader ask the raid if we wanted to extend the raid lockout so we could work more on Yogg tonight. Apparently the concensus was “no”. boggle.
We are so close to finishing 25 Ulduar, I can taste it and people backed away.
If we’re doing the usual Ulduar 25 “clear the keepers” run, I think I’m gonna sit out tonight. I’m completely burnt out on Ulduar.
On a positive note, I made Merlin’s Robe for my warlock. That’s the ToC 25 ilevel 245 DPS caster cloak. I had to use almost all of my triumph badges on both my warlock and DK to get the crusader orbs I needed. Now I’m saving up for orbs for the ilevel 245 crafter caster bracers. That’s another 4 orbs.
Really? What an annoying item name; I know the Warcraft world isn’t exactly a pure aesthetic vision or anything, but still, wtf is up with pulling in a reference to mythology that hasn’t (as far as I know) ever shown up in-game, or been referenced (a la all the Norse gods showing up as Titans, etc)? is irritated at Blizzard
As for ease of marking, I just got the addon QuickMark. It has a toggle on/off little panel with all of the markings on it. When I’m marking I just turn it on, then target each mob and click the panel. Frees up more hotkeys that way, plus I don’t have to remember which key has which mark. Before I did that, groupmates were inevitably treated to a round of ever-changing marks over a target’s head, at least in the first few encounters and whenever we had a new mark that needed to be used.
I agree with SFG’s marking system, and all others are heretical.
So, when I went to log on yesterday, I saw message stating that by Nov. 11 all accounts must be converted to battle.net accounts. Today, I try to check Blizzard’s forums for some info, but they’re all down for maintenance. Anybody here know why they’re doing this? Or, more importantly, how to convert an account? I looked at the usual WoW account management site, but couldn’t find anything there.
Find Blizzard’s BattleNet site - I’m pretty sure that’s where I went when I converted mine a while back. The only noticeable difference is that you’ll be using an E-mail address to log in rather than a username.
Nah, not really, even back in the day when you needed a lot more CC, especially with a Warrior tank. You just call out who’s taking which symbol.
How long have you guys been downing Keepers? If not long, people are probably weighing continuing to gear up against nothing but hammering their heads against a pain-in-the-ass boss for hours.
So glad I’m not the only person who’s thought that.
Heh: amusing story. We were going to finish Naxx last night, except that somebody suggested Onyxia 10 instead. Well, I was a little hesitant, since I have mostly blues, and a new MM build. I should be able to put out more DPS, but I didn’t want to really test it in the very high-stress environment of a single super-boss first.
So, we all popped into the raid channel on Vent, zoomed over to Dustwallow, and hung out dancing and duelling. Finally, we go off, except they forgot to invite me. So I ask for the invite, and the raid leader says, “What, you’re in the group!” (I look at my screen: Ah, no…)
Then follows a five-minute argument trying to figure out who was in what group, finally cultimating in them realizing they had vinited somebody who wasn’t in the chatgroup. At the time I was all , but now I see the lighter side. My character dance naked in front of two alliance groups and a Horde raid. And that’s enough. I was a little bummed, though, so I decided to log off and listen to raid channel a bit to see if I couldn’t learn something about the fight.
I didn’t, except for the following:
Kill the sdds quickly.
Don’t get hit by the firebreath.
Don’t stand behind Onyxia.
Stormwind girls totally have the Generic White Girl dance, plus some macarena. Night Elf girls dance like boozy strippers.
Heh. I suppose I should be aggressively looking for normal ToC in the future. That will help me gear up reasonably, so I won’t be s dependant on help.
