We went to see Ony10 this Sunday, and got her to phase 3 a couple times. Definitely need more than 2.5 ranged for p2 (hunter-me, a lock, and an enh shaman with lightning). sigh I think we wiped 4-5 times before calling it a day and going on to Sarth. (the raid really, really loved my repair bot, though. I’m lovin’ engineering so far too, although the mats cost for the Gnomish Army Knives is somewhat… outrageous)
And my 46 enh shaman got to 4man Zul-Farrak at-level with his new guild. That was a blast – he’s a draenei, right enough, but everyone else was a dorf except the token gnome. “I feel tall.” “You ARE tall!” And later on, when we survived an accidental aggro of 1/3 the Gahz’rilla room sans the disc priest, the tank said, “Don’t piss off the shaman.”
Any of you raiders willing to look at my armory or wow-heroes profile and tell me if I’m geared well enough to heal Onyx10 or ToC10? I want to try to get in a pug for one of them (or even the 25 versions) but I don’t want to embarass myself. Kene/Cairne. (I can’t remember if I logged out in my dps or healing set, but they’re pretty close. My healing set has less +hit and more +sp).
Haha, sounds like the reasons you hate him are the reasons I liked him. Personally, I enjoyed Ignis because there was (a) enough movement that I felt like I was actually doing something besides mashing buttons as hard and fast as possible but (b) not so much movement that my TPS really suffered and I had to worry about DPS pulling off of me.
Very true. Although I wouldn’t say the Heroics are undertuned–they’re perfectly tuned… for a fresh 80 who’s in quest-reward and regular instance blues, with maybe a BoE epic or two (or some Heroic epics for the harder Heroic dungeons). There’s just currently a huuuuuge gap in between Heroic gear (blues and ilvl 200 epics) and endgame raiding gear (ilvl 258 epics).
Grats on the pet–and I just about had a heart attack the first time I got that guy, too (and the time or three after that). So cruel of Blizz! At least the pets go for a decent chunk on the AH.
IMO, if you’re that worried about Rage, get rid of Demo Shout and Sunder. Demo’s nice if you’ve got like five guys hammering on you and you’re going down faster than they are, but otherwise you’re probably not going to be taking enough damage for it to be worth the Rage and GCD. And Sunder is going to be a bit of a waste, too, since by the time you get five stacks up, the mob will probably be mostly dead, anyway. Save it for bosses.
Best explanation for that goddamn turtle I’ve ever heard. Probably drinks with that stupid asshole archaeologist from Darkshore.
I need one of those for Blink. And one for my Priest that reminds me that my Tab is bound to my PW:S, not an attack, and that my 3 is a DOT, not my fallback attack.
Grats on the Hodir rep, too, btw.
Oh god yes. An Enh shammy isn’t ranged, any more than my Prot Warrior is ranged because she’s got a Thrown weapon and a ranged attack she can use once a minute.
Can’t get there from work, but what’s your general gear level? If it’s mostly Naxx10 (ilvl 200 epics) or lower (blues), you might be pushing yourself a bit. If it’s Uld10 level gear (ilvl 219, same as what drops out of Heroic ToC5), you should be fine. (Side question: When you said your healing gear has **less **Hit, you mean it has almost **no **Hit, right? Hit is an absolutely useless stat for healers.)
I spent a bit of time looking at Wow Heroes and was shocked to see that Muz (in his DPS gear anyway) is the #4 toon in our guild, #3 if you don’t count both Kahmu and Reinsgaard. Kene is #3.
No, heroics are just plain undertuned, by my book. There’s not really anything heroic about them; as you say, by the time you ding 80, you’re ready to go in whatever you’ve got. They don’t need to fit that niche; there’s already instances that are aimed at fresh 80s, the ones that have the “Timear Forsees” dailies. They’re so weak that they’re actually for leveling in. My latest alt on the home stretch is hitting them up in pugs of noone over 78, and I have no trouble tanking them in unenchanted gear I crafted out of throwaway saronite. An actual 80 has no business being in there.
Some of the fancier red drake achievements require good use of cooldowns if you’re doing them in blues (hi Jedoga!), but that’s as far as it goes for difficulty. My gang knocked those out while we were all still wearing level 70 gear; Sunwell gear, admittedly, but still well behind what they were supposedly aimed at.
I miss the pre-nerf Burning Crusade heroics. They offered PVE that was actually interesting and challenging outside of a raid, and who didn’t love Metal Gear: Durnholde. The effort/reward ratio was totally screwed up, sure, but I’d have preferred that was solved by increasing rewards rather than decreasing effort. They need to make functional that setting above Heroic that’s been lurking in the UI commands since BC. BC didn’t need it - even in a BIS Sunwell set I was only barely able to solo select few of the level 70 normals - soloing a heroic was utterly inconceivable. But these days? Last week, I went through half of HHoL by myself while waiting for a group to assemble.
Way undertuned, even for their target audience. I’m not expecting Firefighter-grade heroics, or I guess even pre-nerf Shattered Halls, but yeesh. I saw more pug wipes in Scholomance alone than I have in any instance in WOTLK.
Oh I completely agree. It was a make-do solution since people didn’t seem interested in changing up the roster, they just wanted to try with what we had. I have a few casters on my list that I will definitely be poking next time we try for Onyxia.
That said, on a brighter note, I want a proto-drake whelp pet just for the joke potential alone, and have started up the Mysterious Eggs again.
Most of my gear is ilvl 219 or 226, except my bracers, rings, trinkets and off-hand which are all 200 epics. I’ve never done Uld10 or 25 and very little of Naxx, but I’ve got all the H ToC and Conquest gear available to me (and working on Triumph gear). Hopefully I’ll be able to find an O10 or ToC raid tonight.
Gear score is a misunderstood tool. It gives you an idea of what the average player can do. I have on occasion surprised clueless idiots by tanking or DPS’ing an instance or raid while “undergeared”. That’s because I know what the bleep I’m doing, I know the fights, and I have some grasp of strategy.
Any +Hit my healing gear has is just because the item with that stat was an upgrade to what I had before, even with the +hit. It also means that’s an item I’m targeting to upgrade.
Whoo. That was a fun night. Regular Halls of Lightning, Heroic Nexus, and regular Trial of the Champion, the latter two with BDL guildies. That was my first Heroic on any character, and thanks to our leet-arse guild tank it went brilliantly. I’ve been emoing on guildchat about healing Heroics, but that was easier than most regular dungeons I’ve been in. My first actual emblems, plus I got some loot upgrades (sadly not in the slots where I need them the most). That was a lot more fun than I expected it to be.
Should I go ahead and equip it? My two trinket spaces are used up with Heart of Noxxion (+10 Nature resistance) and a Luffa (bleed effect reducer and exfoliant! :D:D:D:D:D:D HAHAHAHAHAHA!:D:D:D:D Whoooooo!) Man! Can I get punny sometimes or what?
It’s actually a kind of “honor” in keeping with the Mr. T “image” and commercials.:smack:
Oh, well. Won’t be the first time I misunderstood something and won’t be the last, I am sure.
We were in the AH when we got “grenaded”, so I logged off and put Wolkie’s helm on him and then went about our business.
I gues it just wore off then, because I didn’t right click on the debuff thingie.
Memo from Wolkie to Quasi:
Next time you take us into the gorilla caves of the Un’ Goro crater, kindly remember the way out?
We finished a quest in there and then them monkeys started re-spawning faster than we could get to the entrance of the cave. So that meant staying in there longer than we had intended and getting very little XP for our trouble.
We finally just made a run for it, only to get triple-teamed on the outside.
Used the cd thing on the action bar and laid those bad boys out, though.
We are now 25% on the way to level 58, and will hopefully get there sometime late Tuesday night!
Go ahead and equip it if you’re fighting in the Western/Eastern Plaguelands. Undead will then drop extra quest items (Scourgestones) that you can hand in to the Argent Dawn for reputation, gold, etc.
Well, Kahmu is an awesome tank; not all your heroic heals are going to be as easy or warp-speed. For instance, if I’m tanking.
Actually, you can get a reasonable idea of how hard things are going to be by looking at your tank’s hit points - if it’s closer to 40,000 than 30,000, he’s pretty damn well-geared and you’re probably in for an easy ride; else, it could be trickier. (Naturally, there are morons out there with nice gear sets and good players just getting geared up. But it’s a decent rule of thumb.)
