World of Warcraft General Discussion

Oh, I know. As I said in that post, Blizzard doesn’t always get all the functionality in, so the addon generally still has a purpose.

I know there’s some kind of joke there, and I will find it.

Well, that’s hard core. People taking WOW way too seriously. Why did you guys kick the friend? What did she do wrong other than not be able to stay for the raid? IIRC your guild is the top guild by a pretty wide margin, it sounds liike this guy is going to have to switch servers again if he wants to use that key and its not like you guys aren’ t ever going to get a key on your own.

The brother issue is way too much drama for a video game.

Some kind of package deal, AIUI. The friend would probably have left anyway.

That could be it as well. I’ve only done tank heals on 10 man, I’d be curious to see what would happen if I did raid (probably epic fails, but it’d be fun to try!). 25 man, IMO, is so much easier because you have others to back you up (I remember once doing a 25-naxx group that ran with 3 tanks and I was the dedicated OOT healer…how boring!).

I’m almost tempted now to bite my tongue and try one out, just to see the “other side” of things.

Boot 'em all! Ask questions later!
I agree, the friend would have bailed anyway. Better safe than sorry.

You did nothing wrong in asking. The guild leadership probably dropped the ball in implying that there would be changes before they knew what those changes would be.

This is fair and if the guild wants to incentivize people to stick around and grind out TOC and Ulduar to gear up some of the undergeared folks then fine but they need to up front and clear about that.

For example, our guild has had great attendance on TOC raid nights and really crappy attendance on Ulduar nights so we kicked up the DKP for Ulduar bosses (they were basically on farm so they yielded very low DKP in fact one night of Ulduar raiding yielded as much DKP as Anubarak before they bumped up the DKP). Then one night “Solace of the Fallen” dropped in TOC 25 and it went to a relatively new healer so a long time healer who hadn’t looted anything in a month got upset and contested the award and the guild leader made it a point to go through the DKP awards on a raid by raid basis and it became obvious that skipping the Ulduar raid was going to make you fall behind pretty quickly (one Ulduar raid night now yields about half of what you get on a TOC night). We lost a couple of folks who thought that this was unfair but we have had full Ulduar raids since then.

If you don’t mind starting fresh from zero at the beginning of 3.3 or when Cataclysm rolls out (I intend to take a break between killing Arthas and Cataclysm), then fine but there are going to be folks who play all the way through and might be getting several items before you get your first 3.3 drop.

Yeah, as a druid, I don’t know what I would do without it. I am pretty ineffectual as a bear tank in our current raid content but in my full tank gear I am more than a enough of a speedbump even though I am in my resto spec. It has meant the difference between a wipe and a win at least twice.

Do you have a newsletter I can subscribe to?

Coolness

I’m a Ret pally as well, and Dragonfin Fillet is my favorite food.

Its not as much of a transition for a pally as it might be for another class, but a good pally healers patches up any burst damage absorbed by the raid. So if an add aggros DPS, a good pally healer will be able to throw a flash of light on them and give the regular raid healers some support.

Foror’s Crate of Endless Resist Gear Storage  (Be sure to read the tooltip.)

Now, if only it were real… Sigh.

(a) They were part of a package deal and (b) IIRC, she was in on it. FWIW, there was a third person in the group who stayed (or got a re-invite) after making it clear that he was not involved.

The margin’s closer now, but the next guild is still a boss or two behind us. And the guild that key-guy and his friend went to… I don’t even think they’re on the radar. We’re just going to have to push to get Mimi and Freya down on hardmode so we can start over with our own key.

The Altoholic mod does this, and much much more, at least with other people in your guild that also have the mod. If you’re anywhere near as much of an alt nut as I am you’ll find it a great mod to have even just for yourself.

I keep meaning to pick it up (although it’s not as big a deal as when most of my alts were on one server). Guess this is another reason. (I doubt it picks up anybody but others with the addon, but even that’s better than nothing.)

Just a quick status report, sort of…

Figmo is now Champion Of The Horde, and Dotbot and MooTseTung are following close behind. Engineering on Ivorae is now 450, and is working on the rep to be able to make Choppers. Steelhand has been tanking (succesfully) and Klaw is getting ready to do more tanking (like he used to during TBC). Queron is now dual spec shadow and holy (I just like shadow too much to quit it), Popgunn is now both frost and fire, and Moo is now enhance and resto.

Also, Rik?

I tried to move QH over where I could see Wolkie’s battle stats, but was unable to.

Sorry

Q

Well, I was going to see about moving one of my 80s over to BDL so that I could run with you guys, but it would cost me $55 to move one toon and switch factions. What a rip, man. It seems to me that these things should come as a package. :stuck_out_tongue:

Wow, stock bar setup, eh? Have you ever tried to use Bartender? It will let you get rid of elements you don’t need and arrange and scale everything. Great addon.

If you type “/qh treset” it will move that tracker for you and you can click on a little glowing square (usually it’s in the text someplace) so you can put that where you want it. If you can’t get to that square, you could turn off those two side bars until you move the qh tracker and then turn them back on.

I see the problem …

Like My Darn Snake Legs said, temporarily turn off those action bars on the right

Hit Esc to go to the Menu, then click Interface, then select Action Bars, and uncheck “Right Bar” and “Right Bar 2”. Now you’ll be able to see the little square in the QH text. The square will be in the upper-right corner, which is currently hidden behind your action bars. Click on that square and drag the whole shebang over to the left side of your screen.

(Note: When you move it over to the left, the little square will also move to the upper-left corner of the QH text.)

Now go back and turn your “Right Bar” and “Right Bar 2” back on

You know, I always think “Raiders gripe so much about repair costs. They can’t be that bad, can they? Just a few gold you can make back in a single daily, right?”

And then I died 6 or 7 times in one Heroic TOC. 13 gold right there, and only 3 of my items are ilevel 200 or over. Harsh.

ETA: It wasn’t all bad, though. I got Armbands of the Wary Lookout and Treads of Dismal Fortune from that one run, since I was the only leather DPS. Suddenly I’m starting to get pretty buff.

Gratz on the new gear! It almost makes the deaths worth it. Once you start getting epics you start having to pay a lot more. Tyrchon has to pay about 13g/10% durability loss. I don’t die a lot, but when I do it makes a little dent in my pocket.
