World of Warcraft General Discussion

The nice thing was that although I died and then had the misfortune for my computer to lock up so that I couldn’t get back into the instance before the Champions were down, the group was really cool about making sure I got the Treads, even going so far as to open a GM ticket when the healer couldn’t trade them to me. (Turned out he was just goofing up in the trade window.)

Didn’t have time to play last night, but I logged on to check my auctions and my Black Tabby had finally sold on the neutral AH. It sold for the minimum bid (750g) which after those greedy goblins had taken their cut only netted me about 637g, but it was just barely (and I mean barely enough for me to finally pick up the Loop of the Kirin Tor. It’s a minimal upgrade from what I was wearing but it will be nice when I upgrade to Inscribed Loop of the KT. I’m just excited to have the extra Dal hearth; it’s going to make my daily questing a lot less tedious.

Heroic TOC is the greatest thing EVAR on the first four or five runs, since basically every drop in your spec will be a huge upgrade. By now, my returns have seriously diminished; I’m basically looking for a ring and a bit of off-spec stuff at this point.

That’s pretty easy to do - if you try to just right-click the item into the window, it ends up in the “will not be traded” section. You have to pick it up and drop it into the main part of that window.
I helped my guild finish off a Naxx10 run last night. They’d done the other 3 quarters the night before, and were left with Plague and Sapph/KT. We had a new transfer MTing the run (DK, now orc - transferred over from Alliance side and so far loves being Horde). Our OT was stuck in a Gundrak run, so I switched out of my “thunder chicken”/boomkin mode and into bear, and we 9-manned it just past Noth. Introduced the our new guildie/Hordie to a new-to-him way to tank Heigan - the “perch on the corner of the platform and have him on the floor” method.

The rest of it was uneventful until we hit KT. The offtank had to leave, so I switched back to tank and we brought in a hunter. Only after starting the encounter did we realize that we had nearly the absolute worst group configuration for taking on KT. Group was composed of 2 tanks (DK/druid), 3 healers (shaman/shaman/priest), and the remainder were hunter, DKx2, rogue, ret pally. :smack: Due to lack of ranged attacks, the banshees actually caused us to wipe during the first part. Soooo embarrassing. We swapped - my husband logged off his DK and brought in his pally in prot mode, while I switched to boomkin. Much better! At the end of the night, I had just enough emblems of conquest for my druid’s T8 feral BP.

On a side note, There is a caster cloak that drops off of KT that you will not need to upgrade (actually there are no real upgrades) until TOC 25 and even then it is a rare drop, half the casters in my guild still wear their naxx cloak.

HTOC is great for recruiting because along with the badge gear, you can actually have gear requirements for recruits these days without throwing out the wheat with the chaff.

Jeeze, sounds like you’ve been busy! Grats on all of it.

Quasi, after you try turning your side bars off to see the little gray rectangle you can use to move the QH quest log, if that doesn’t work, let me know and I’ll take some screenshots to show you exactly what you’re looking for.

I’m in mostly 245 epics (pants are 258 and EH trinkets are the 200 ones from Brewfest), and one death generally costs me between 9 and 14 gold. When working on progression content, I can easily go through 100 or 200 gold in a night. This is why I’m very, very happy that our guild bank pays for repairs for anyone who’s a raiding member.

Yay on the cat selling, and yay on the ring!

Oh good, that still works?

:smack: It seriously pisses me off how many fights completely favor ranged DPS. There are only a teeny-tiny handful that are easier for melee, but those also require you to have people at range (vs. the anti-melee fights, where you’re best off just stacking as many ranged as you can get). Say, compare something like Vezaxx (melee don’t have to worry about Shadow Crash or the healing-mark-thing, but you have to have some ranged or you end up with the healing-marked-thing in the melee, at which point you’re screwed) to something like six-minute Maly (ranged can keep DPSing him during the ph1/ph2 transition, and spark positioning isn’t as nitpicky, and literally the only reason to bring any melee is to have a DK for Death Grip).

During a typical raid night I go through about 100 gold in flasks, about 25 gold worth of food and reagents and about 25 gold worth of repairs.

On a typical progression raid night you can add another 150 to 300 gold worth of repairs.

I usually do 15-20 dailies 5 days a week and when we are focusing on progression content, my bank balance drifts down.

How exactly does your guild fund those repairs?

My guild gives us some money for repairs but it is enough for maybe three deaths.

Yeah its one of the reasons my offspec is moonkin instead of feral. Feral DPS is higher on the test dummies but my in raid DPS is much higher when I can just stand in one place and dps the DPS assist target.

Good gear + emblems + champion seals = Awesomeness. What’s not to love?

I can’t even count how many times I’ve done heroic, but I still have yet to see the
Black Knight’s Rondel drop. My hunter guildie has 2 of them and it makes me mad.

Oh, side note: whoever linked that “You awaken in Razor Hill” thread, I love you forever. I’m slowly working my way through it (can’t get to it from work, unfortunately), and it’s hilarious.

Anything that gets “harvested” in raids goes to the guild bank. (So, if an Engineer breaks down FL, that gets donated, and if an Herbalist collects herbs in Freya’s room, so does that. The Alchemist’s Cache from Freya also goes in.) Any BoE recipes or epics that aren’t needed by someone in the raid go to the gbank, and if they aren’t needed by anyone else, they’re sold. Any unneeded BoP drops are DE’d and the mats put in the gbank. Any greens are DE’s and the mats put in the gbank. Crusader Orbs etc. go to the gbank. Chant mats, flasks, etc. are purchased (below AH level, often half-price or lower) from the gbank. People donate other mats, consumables, food/meat, etc.

We’ve had a dagger drop repeatedly in TotGC25… with nobody in the raid who could make use of it. IIRC, we once gave it to a Mage, who chanted it with Minor Beastslayer or Winter’s Might or something like that to taunt the Rogue who wasn’t able to make it online for the run.

Ours does it through donations, and through fundraising by clearing out stuff from the bank that’s not being used and selling it on the AH/disenchanting it and selling that on the AH. Since we’re not a huge raiding guild, ours gives enough to pay for maybe 1.5-2 deaths a day on decent-level gear.

Eh. At this point for me the gear is basically abyssal-crystal-in-a-box (which ain’t bad); the seals are nice and all, but just about any other heroic gives fewer wipes per emblem.

I’m still waiting for that damned axe to drop. Every single time I’ve been outrolled on it.

Have you tried working out an agreement pre-run with the other DPS? Something like, “I’m only interested in the axe, and I’ll pass on everything else if the axe will for sure go to me”?

I usually find it easy to build the group myself. Hand picking people from Looking For Group let’s you make it so that you can be the only one who uses or needs the axe.
For me, I try to find a group without a rogue, that way if the dagger drops it’s all mine.
The whole instance is pretty short as well, so even people who don’t need anything from it probably won’t mind helping you out. It doesn’t require a big time commitment…just some good heals.

As for KT – sigh I’m betting that’s going to be our exact problem too. We have maybe two regular ranged dps in our Naxx runs, me and a mage or lock. Thanks for the heads up – I’ll have to remind our GM/RL that we need to save a few slots for ranged. We’re going to be running Naxx Sunday + Monday, also, so hopefully we can get further this time.

SFG, glad you’re enjoying the ‘You awaken in Razor Hill’ thread! It’s a blast, for sure. I really want to save the whole thing so I can read it whenever I need a giggle.

Also: I finally got to 450 engineering   With far fewer gnomish army knives than I thought I’d need to farm up. Now that vacation is starting, I get to work on farming triumph (ring and shoulder) and Jeeves before 3.3 hits. D:

Remind everyone to type /range so that they can all spread out enough. This is so freaking important on KT. He’s got two attacks that hurt others if they’re within 10 yards. Mana Detonation turns someone into a bomb that will hurt others based upon how much mana the original target has (minimum 10k from melee I think) and drains some mana from the original target but doesn’t damage. Frost Blast is evil. That will chain to anyone within 10 yards, freezes any targets in place, and they absolutely must get some kind of heal within 4 seconds or else they are dead. Insta-cast heals (not HoT unless they tick immediately) are best. Easy way to wipe the party is have 2+ people get Frost Blast on them, watch the healers freak, and things get ugly.

Something to keep in mind with the Banshees: they explode upon hitting their primary aggro target. So it’s not that they can’t be DPS’d by melee, just that you have to be *very *careful that whoever’s got aggro stays out of their range and that no one on top of them pulls off.

Grats on the max Eng and thanks again for the link.

That’s kind of how I feel. I’d rather run the daily heroic and at least pick up some Emblems of Triumph, than do HToC again on the chance I might get an epic do d/e and a couple of seals. I already have the gear I need from there. At least it’s usually quick.

The only reason I run it now is to help out guildmates or friends who still need gear upgrades.
