Yup, starting is soooo easy now. My new troll hunter (anybody here have a toon on Zangarmarsh?) is already lvl 20. I rolled up a gnome mage, too, and watching the gnome intro cinematic, it would appear they’ve changed the voiceover scripts on the cinematics as well. I noticed it didn’t make any mention of the gnomes accidentally irradiating Gnomeregan.
Bit of coolness: Last night, while playing my troll, there was a lvl 80 tauren hanging out at the Crossroads giving away 10g to anybody level 21 and under so that we could all get our mounts.
Bit of uncoolness: At a different time, I returned to the Crossroads on foot right after an Alliance attack and found the flightmaster dead. I needed to get to Org, and didn’t want to stand around waiting for the flightmaster to respawn, so I ran to Ratchet. Where I found a belf pally slaughtering every NPC in sight :smack: Fortunately, he hadn’t gotten to the flightmaster there yet.
I love the male troll /ty emote: “I owe ya one!”
Pally news: Eilyssana is now Eilyssana the Argent Champion ![]()
I also lucked into finding a group for Banshee’s Revenge - I was doing the dailies against the Scarlet Onslaught on their island, right below Balargarde Fortress when somebody posted the LFG, so I joined right up since I was right there (and the timing was perfect, as I’d planned to put out my own LFG for that quest as soon as I finished the dailies anyway). The quest says 5 players, but we did it with 3. Only 16 more quests to go for Icecrown: The Final Goal!
Argent Tournament: Do the Champions change their tactics depending on what mount you’re using? I entered the ring riding a nightsaber, challenged an Orgrimmar Champion, and got beat down by him three times in a row. I couldn’t seem to do a damn thing against him. I switched to a Ram and tried again, and beat the Org Champ easily. Did the mount actually make a difference, or was that just weird luck?
Weird luck, I think. I haven’t noticed any change in their tactics basically ever.
I took y’all up on the easier quests in HP, and just finished two of them, thanks.
I learned something called “Victory Rush”, but I am not exactly sure how to use it and when (like rush regardless of health bar?), so I wonder if someone could give me a “play by play” of how YOU would use it?
I just got mobbed/killed trying to ride through Expedition Armory to do the Longbeard quest, so I guess I need to fly over it. :smack: I’m done with the Unyielding Souls Quest in there.
Thanks and any tips would be appreciated. I know y’all are WAY past me in levelling, but anything you remember and can pass along?
Also could SFG (or someone else if she’s busy) take a look at Wolk in the armory and see if we need anything?
I have been trying to wait until at least the even numbered levels to buy stuff in AH, but I was thinking of buying some potions NOW at least.
Thanks as always for your help!

WoLkie (sorry, buddy!)
Victory Rush is (almost) the only warrior attack that doesn’t cost any rage. It’s completely free. But you can only use it within a short time after you’ve just killed an enemy, and only once per kill.
So, kill one thing, use your Victory Rush on another. It’s useful pretty much any time you’re attacking one thing after another, but especially so if it’s multiple weak enemies, where you can simply go through the entire group like dominoes with Victory Rush and Cleave.
So just left click on it, Mek?
Don’t have to drag it anywhere?
Also, what does VIGILANCE get me?
That’s something else we learned.
Thanks
Q
Well you use Victory Rush in the same basic way that you do any other ability like Shield Slam or Rend, it helps to pull it onto one of the action bars for convenient use.
As for Vigilance, that’s a group tanking thing. If you’re by yourself, it can’t do anything, but since you asked…monsters determine who they attack by a hidden value called threat, which is a measure of how much everyone has annoyed that monster. Vigilance is an ability you cast on someone else that takes away a portion of their threat and gives it to you - effectively making you protect everyone better, but especially so for the one person you’re Vigilant over. It also lets you use Taunt more often if that person is under attack.
TEH KITTEHZ!
Had a little fun in Dalaran last night. Sombody put out a call, and everybody with a cat mount gathered on Krasus’ landing for a screenshot:

So … many … cats!
As you might suspect, there were several Horde players as well as a few asshat Alliance players doing their best to screw up the shot with their mammoths, elekks, and flying mounts, but it was still kind of fun.
After we did the cats, we did drakes:

Oh yeah, hit Exalted with the Silver Covenant last night and got to do their dailies. I was extremely annoyed when I completed a quest that came from a dropped item on Hrothgar’s Landing (Battle Plans Of The Kvaldir) and it didn’t count toward the Icecrown: The Final Goal achievement.

I’m supposed to use a crystal shard on an Uncontrolled Void Walker.
I understand I’m not supposed to kill him, but let him get down to 15% health then use the crystal.
It’s on my action bar, but with a 0.
If it isn’t a timed quest, then I don’t know how to use the shard.
Here’s What I do:
Everyone on Thottbot seems to think it’s an easy quest, so what am I doing wrong?
Thanks

Use Character Suck?
Y’all ever have to do this?
Thanks

Suddenly couldn’t see Wolkie (time, about 10:25pm). Nothing helped (camera, etc). Logged out, reset user options, no help either.
Got killed and went to HH cemetery for rez, and then was able to see myself.
Just wondered if this may have happened to any of you playing @ the same time?
Q
Hi Quasi,
Not much happens if I remember rightly until after you kill the voidwalker. Just get one down to under 15% HP then left-click the shard, after the voidwalker dies you’ll see a red crystal\gem thing which you loot to complete the quest.
I tried out the new dungeon finder with my baby priest for this first time at the weekend with mixed results. First run was excellent with Ragefire Chasm finished in about 20 minutes even though one of the dps dropped out after the first boss. After that I had 3 failed runs one in Deadmines ruined by a hunter Needing on everything so everyone dropped then two attempts at Wailing Caverns where almost everything went wrong from DPS on follow and AFK, Hunters starting the pulls (hmmm I see a pattern) and finally a tank who wouldn’t wait for me to drink when I was OOM. I have now tried all roles in groups and think Healing is my favourite, fortunately my pally can fill that role until my priest grows up.
My guild also celebrated our first birthday this weekend, here we are at the gates of SW Legendary Thingyhood Birthday Party on the way to our Guild awards picnic.
Idiot encounter: We were doing a guild run of random heroics, I was on my priest, and we needed 1 DPS to fill out the ranks. Got a warrior in Old Kingdom. At the second fight (the first went fine), I noticed the warrior was auto-following me and not fighting. Well, I figured maybe some emergency happened and he didn’t have time to say anything. We got to the first stairway down and I decided to leave him at the top of the steps, so I peeled him off on the railing and followed the group down. Warrior pops up at the bottom, following me still. Then he rolls Need on a green item that the rest of us greed. We can’t seem to kick him - I think that’s either because he was group leader, or because we’d just started the run, so I notify everyone in guild chat, and we all leave the instance. :smack:
I haven’t seen this, but I hope this isn’t a new trend of gold farmers botting instances in the Dungeonfinder. I’m particularly worried that you couldn’t /votekick him – you should be able to do that even to the leader. Maybe not early in the instance, though, I’m not positive.
There’s something that would be a useful feature…being able to turn off someone else’s Follow if it’s targeted to you.
No, there’s a limit on how early you can votekick someone - it’s come up in randoms when one of the players goes linkdead immediately. It’s something on the order of 5-10 minutes - I’m not sure exactly. It’s about the time required for a normally-geared group to clear through to the first boss of a typical instance.
That’s what I was thinking, because the message was something like, “You can’t kick that player yet.” Some other people, though, were saying, “He’s the leader, we can’t kick him!” and that just seemed stupid. I’ve always seen a randomly-picked participant be made leader if we have a mostly-guild group, and then that’d mean the random person would hold power over the whole group if you had just needed to fill a slot.
On the positive side, our first random for the day was Heroic Oculus; my husband was tanking on his pally and I was healing on my priest. No one left to start with, so we felt good. We had a monster of a DPS warrior from Blackrock, a pally alt (gear was worse than my husband and I, so that’s my assumption) from one of the uber-guilds on our server, and a shaman from elsewhere. Most people said “uh, I’ve never done this/haven’t done this in forever”, and my husband just said, “We’ll make it through, we just need to pay attention.” Shaman went link-dead before we even got out of the first area - because we saw a lot of other odd bugs and connection issues in it during the run, we’re inclined to believe it was legit, but who knows. We 4-manned the first boss, then got to where you pick the dragons, kicked the LD guy, and got in a hunter. Other than a couple random deaths on drakes, we powered through the rest, and defeated Eregos no problem. The pally (from one of our server’s uber-guilds) called us “pros”, and the warrior modestly shrugged off the praise of his DPS. Yay for good runs!
