World of Warcraft General Discussion

Your WTF folders aren’t vital. They’re the game’s way of “remembering” what your settings were, but if you deleted them by mistake, all you’ll have to do is set up your settings and add-ons again. You shouldn’t have to do a Repair just because they were accidentally deleted.

My alchemist makes a potion for that problem =) My 80DK on medivh solos strath with a few stacks of them to farm it.

Shouldn’t be necessary these days, they’ve nerfed Cadaver Worms, that 10 minute dot with 100% reduced health regeneration was a bit much.

Yeah, I solo’d Strat a bunch of times with my 80 DK and didn’t really even notice the diseases.

Well, except for the Rogue “poison” quest. One of the few things in the game that really made me go OMG, the first time I did that. I expect that rogues can now just buy poison training at their trainers, though.

I installed DXE last night and plan to try it out tonight during Toc25 and tomorrow during EoE and Toc10. It looks like it doesn’t do 5mans or battlegrounds so i can’t completely remove DBM even if I fall in love with it.
Looking over the settings, is there any way to customize what the arrows are pointing at? I didn’t look like there were arrows set up for the rotface fight, and I’d love to have one pointing at the Big Ooze or the ooze tank.

Most of your WoW folders are just full of settings–deleting them won’t hurt anything. Both **Cache **and **WTF **are folders that are routinely deleted as part of troubleshooting–deleting them won’t break your game, just reset some things to their default settings. The **Addons **folder also won’t break your game if you delete it–it just contains all of your addons, so you’d have to redownload and reinstall all of them if you got rid of it.

ETA: Can’t wait to hear about **Wolkie **and Silka! I take it that means you’ve got your account back?

Correct–DXE is only for raids. AFAIK, they have no current plans to include modules for anything else.

Pretty sure the arrows are only available for the fights and fight mechanics they’ve programmed them in for.

Two days ago, I called Blizz right at their 8 am and after waiting 15 minutes, got a live person, and that is what I said to her.

I explained about the damn magic jack cutting out and for her no to think SHE was being hung up on (the one being hung up?)

So after re-assuring me that she wouldn’t, I proceeded to explain to her what had happened, how many times we e-mailed, tried to call, appealed without hearing anything back, and she said they had not gotten (thank Og) the e-mail with the credit card number which I had stupidly written down wrong anyway!:smack:

So after many attempts at running the card through (during which I became rather frustrated and emotional - but that’s me these days) we finally got the numbers right and she unlocked the account.

Okay. About the “emotional” part?

One page told me my account had been “permanently disabled” due to an account violation (mentioned earlier in this thread), but when I clicked another link below that, it took me to another page which said “temporarily disabled”, which confused and frustrated me, because that whole time the account was locked, I had no idea which was actually the case.

I explained why the game is so important to me (the cognitive memory “exercises”) and the young lady understood and credited me the number of days I had been locked out.

Yesterday I got a rather nice and personal e-mail apologizing for the difficulty which I have yet to answer, but will.

Being locked out of WoW is tantamount to being banned from The Dope, as far as I’m concerned.

Thanks

Q

Yay! I’m so glad to hear everything’s been sorted out. I’m sure it doesn’t quite make up for all of the frustration and worry, but I think it’s good of them to credit back the days you were locked out, as well.

In lieu of the WoW, it seems like just getting the account back turned into a cognitive exercise all of its own! :stuck_out_tongue:

There are diseases in Strat? Seriously, though, yeah, at lvl 80 they shouldn’t be much concern. I’ve run my 80 pally through there several times, with no disease trouble. The only thing that ever gives me trouble in there is the occasional “silence” effect that some of the nerubian things put on me, mainly because they like to web me to the floor, silence me, and then scamper off out of melee range. So I can’t hit 'em and I can’t cast any spells at 'em.

Enchanting: Geez I’m glad there’s no AH deposit on enchantment scrolls, because damned if they sell. I’ve got this Enchant Cloak: Major (or something) Frost Resistance that I’ve been posting for weeks, and nobody wants it, though I guess I’ve read here that frost resistance isn’t as important/in demand as it used to be. I thought my scrolls of Enchant 2H Weapon: Massacre would sell better, but they don’t. So far, about the only thing that I can consistently sell is the Fiery Weapon enchant. I have to buy the mats for it, but they don’t cost much, and I can get 50-60g a pop for the scrolls. I made a couple more Massacre scrolls yesterday to bump my Enchanting up to 440 so that I could learn the +10 All Stats chest enchant, and I was relieved to see that it’s actually less expensive to make than the Massacre enchant (4 Dream Shards + 4 Abyss Crystals for the +10 Stats, vs. 40 Infinite Dust + 6 Greater Cosmic Essence + 6 Abyss Crystals for Massacre). Maybe it sells better too (likely, I’d assume, since it’s useful to every class, where Massacre is only useful to 2H-weapon-wielding melee classes).

Got my warrior to level 63 last night in Hellfire Peninsula. I really need to do some research into a “proper” attack rotation for an Arms warrior. Basically, I Charge, Rend, Mortal Strike, Victory Rush (when available), followed by more Mortal Strike whenever it’s off cooldown, and occasionally throw in a Heroic Strike if I get bored waiting for Mortal Strike to come off CD. While I’m killing things reasonably quickly, I often feel like I should be able to kill faster, especially when the mob is 2-3 levels lower than me. Maybe I’m being unfair comparing my warrior’s killing speed to my paladin’s?

Also, I don’t know exactly what was going on in HP, but the entire time I played there last night I had to listen to a steady stream of Doom Lord Kazzak yelling about “All mortals will perish” and “The Legion will triumph!” and so on and so on. Non-stop. For three hours. Gah! Shut up already!

Anyway, my warrior’s looking pretty slick these days: World of Warcraft

It seemed an exercise in futility there for a while, dear, but thanks for keeping me in your thoughts throughout the whole ordeal, it meant a lot to me, to have my friends care!;)

Quasi

Spec Taste for Blood, that will you allow you to use Overpower when your Rend ticks, ie you get one more instant attack with +50% crit every 6 seconds, and spec Improved Slam and use it as filler when everything else is on cd.
My warrior got a cookie cutter pve dps arms spec.

What’s up with my Interface control bar?

I thought when you clicked on it, it takes you out of action???

Mine is just transparent over Wolkie and he can still be attacked.

Also, looks like I lost my macros when I screwed around wit it last night, because now I don’t have my RGD macro.:smack:

Thanks

Q

Thanks, I’ll give that a try

I’ve seen a couple strange things the last couple days while doing dailies on my pally.

Yesterday I was doing That’s Abominable!, and I spotted a belf pally also doing the quest but using what looked to me like a silly and dangerous technique. Instead of killing and reanimating an abomination and then sending it amongst the target mobs, she was instead running in amongst the mobs herself, rounding up a huge crowd of them, then dragging them back to the nearest abomination. Then she would attack the abomination, reanimate it (all while the crowd of other mobs beat on her), and blow it up right on top of herself. It worked, I guess, but seemed rather risky.

Today, I was doing the Ebon Blade dailies in Jotunheim, and while I was fighting a mob near one of those cages containing captured Ebon Blade DKs, the DK ran out of his cage (through the side of the locked cage), attacked my opponent with his fists, and then ran back into the still-locked cage once my opponent was dead. Some odd glitch/bug, I guess, because I’ve fought that same mob in the same place numerous times and I never saw that before.

Hot freakin’ damn on rye toast!

I hooked up once again with the dwarf paladin I’d grouped with twice previously, and together we headed off to Zul’Drak. He helped me clear out a non-Drakuru, non-Ride-a-freaking-giant quest that had been sitting in my quest log for a long time, and then together we did the two followups. Then we decided to test our skills in the Amphitheater of Anguish. We easily 2-manned the first five matches, but failed twice in row trying to 2-man the last guy. So we merged our little group with another 2-man group that was there trying to do the same thing, and the four of us beat the last opponent.

And by the time it was over I’d earned Loremaster of Northrend

About damned time!

Then, just for the heck of it, we flew on down to Grizzly Hills and clobbered the Shade of Arugal, which was another quest that had been sitting in my log for too long. I’d soloed the first three “bosses” of that quest a long time ago, but had never had any luck with Arugal in the occasional times I’d gone back to see if I could take him at a new level or with better gear.
Hey, my warrior just got a letter from Commander Ashlam Valorfist in WPL, and he finishes it up with, “Your seasoned hand would be most welcomed [sic] in a Cauldron run!” What the hell is a “Cauldron run”?

That’s weird that you got that if you’re at a level where you’re finishing the Northrend Loremaster achievement. It’s the quest The Scourge Cauldrons, where you have to nullify the four cauldrons at the Scourge-infested farms in Western Plaguelands. It’s a low-to-mid-50s quest.

That’s because its not true. The guild that cleared Ulduar in all blues had Ulduar on farm, everyone knew the fights backwards and forwards and they wiped multiple times on several fights. There is no way they could have cleared Ulduar the first time around in all blues. Sure skill is important and all that but you need the gear to learn the fights in the first place.

Well now that you can get tier sets from badges and you can fill out your trinket, belt, range and cape slot with frost badges, you can get ilevel 226+ in all other slots (mostly 245) except for weapon/offhand, wrist and feet with triumph badges and conquest badges

I think the ICC bosses are harder at gear level than Naxx but easier than Ulduar. Ulduar is still the hardest raid at gear level in WOTLK IMHO.

I am in a casual guild and we basically require flasks on new content.

I see a lot of female everything. My guild has a lot of married folks so we are about 40% female. Still, I would say that women are underrepresented among our tanks (only 1 tank out of 6 is a woman) while they are overrepresented among healers (6 out of 10 healers is a woman), they also tend to be ranged DPS more frequently than melee DPS (although our highest DPS is probably a female cat).

I wonder if there is a difference in male/female ratio among races and among female toons of various races.

So I recently gave a guildie a bunch of gems and eternals to transmute into epic gems. He server transferred last week. I don’t think he was thinking about the gems when he did it but it was about 40 epic gems.

Oh well, that’ll teach me.

No, it’s my paladin that just got Loremaster of Northrend. My warrior is lvl 63 and just left the Plaguelands for Outland a couple days ago.

I swear I usually have better reading comprehension than that. :smack:
