World of Warcraft General Discussion

S’okay - I just went back and re-read, and I see I didn’t actually specify that I was talking about my paladin anywhere in the first part of my post, and then I switched to talking about my warrior with nothing but a two-line break to differentiate the two subjects :smack:

I’m afraid I tend to just assume that everybody knows by now that my main is a lvl 80 human paladin, and I think I actually make a lot of posts talking about what I’ve done with her without actually specifying it’s her I’m talking about. Which is fine if she’s the only toon I’m discussing in a particular post, but can easily confuse things if I start talking about my alts.
Hey, just out of curiosity, regarding achievements - are any of you like me in only really being concerned about your main’s achievements, and not so much about your alts getting them? I’m talking mostly about the “world” type of achievements rather than things like dungeon/raid achievements. For example, I’ve enjoyed earning World Explorer and working towards Loremaster, finding all the critters for To All the Squirrels I’ve Loved Before, To All the Squirrels Who Shared My Life, and Pest Control, getting the various fishing achievements, etc. But only on my main. I’ve found I couldn’t really care less if they get those achievements.

I discovered late last week that I’d apparently had a bit of a brain fart…

I’ve been running random heroics with my Belf paladin Kalathan for a few weeks now. Probably done each one at least 3-4 times, and some seem to come up in the rotation more than once. However, the one that I’ve only ever done once was Forge of Souls.

Now my brain fart was: I’d had the quest where you’re supposed to talk to Lady Sylvannis in my quest log ever since I started running heroics, but apparently the one time I’d run Forge of Souls I’d missed that you were supposed to talk to her at the start of the instance. She’s standing right there when you zone in (complete with yellow question mark) and I missed her.

So all this time, I’d never ‘completed’ the Forge of Souls quest chain, and thus I’d never unlocked Pit of Saron. I’d only finally noticed that PoS was still locked for me when I was idly skimming through the ‘select a specific dungeon’ instance list on the dungeon finder the other day.

Fortunately for me, it was within the next day or two that Forge of Souls did pop up as the random heroic, and I was able to finally turn in the quest, finish the instance, and unlock Pit of Saraon. Now I’m just waiting for Pit of Sauron to come up as a random heroic for me. I guess I could queue specifically for it, but I don’t wanna have to sit around in Dalaran for a couple of hours waiting for a group to assemble.

(And yes, I’m fully aware that I can go and do quests while waiting, but the Dungeon Finder tool has a remarkable ability to toss me into a group just when I’m in the middle of doing something difficult… )

I don’t even bother with farts any more. I go for the whole brain-bowel movement, apparently.:smack:

Like couple of nights ago, when I screwed around with the game because my movements were jerky?

  1. I cleared my cache

  2. Did a defrag

  3. For some strange reason, took a look in the Recycle Bin to see if there were some huge program there gumming up the works, saw two What The Fuck folders, panicked, and ran WoW repair.

  4. Now I’ve lost my macros and my interface bar when I click it goes transparent, and Wolkie can be attacked because he’s not “timed out” from the game.

So don’t talk to me about brain farts! Could be worse, ya know, Runestar? You COULD be ME!:slight_smile:

Q

Do you mean this “can be attacked” thing happens when you go into your macros or interface menu? Because that’s normal! The game doesn’t pause.

Interface Menu, FH, and I know I’m 2 bricks shy of a load, but I’ve never had it go transparent before. I’ve always been able to take my time, make any changes in the interface (I don’t even MESS with macros, because I don’t understand how to make them), then hit Return To Game and while I’m in Interface, NO ONE has EVER attacked me, and that’s not because I wasn’t within range, either, because when I came back, an enemy might be waiting for me right there in that spot.

Thanks

Q

Okay, forget what I said about macros. I went into that menu and re-created my RGD weapon one, so I do remember how to do them.

But the transparency thing? That really has never happened till now (that I could be attacked while re-arranging some stuff like auto-loot, etc…)

Q

FH, I did a search abd found this post in one of the WoW forums…

When I downloaded the new patch 3.3.0 and now 3.3.0a my WoW User Interface has become transparent. I am still able to walk around or fly. However I am not able to see what any of the buttons i am using represent.
I have reinstalled WoW.
I have a very hard time believing this is my computers fault.
Is anyone having similar problems? If so what did you do to fix such problems?

There has been no answer to that post at all, so I’m going to opn a game ticket…

Thanks

Q

Yay! I just hit my first 55, which means I can make a Death Knight! I say this because it lets me make something on Cairne that isn’t, say, a totally useless level 8 Blood Elf Priest. . .

Man, I’ve picked up so much loot in the last couple of days. My DKhas T9 shoulders, helm, and an Orca Hunter’s Harpoon. My shammyhas a T9 helm and a new belt from ToC. My huntergot Reckoning from ToC 10.

My warriorgot T9 gloves, but my dps is so shitty on that toon that I might just not play him anymore. He’s fury with Titan’s Grip, but he barely breaks 1k dps. He’s got a couple of greens (I don’t play him much), but that shouldn’t make him so terrible. I’m sure I’m doing something wrong in my rotation or something, but I don’t know if I care enough to research it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah the upgrade to triumph badges for heroics and basically allowing unlimited heroics in random groups has really made it basically inexcusable to have less than ilevel 213 in almost any slot and less than 226 on any slot other than belt boots wrist and cloak.

Our guild has an informal policy of requiring at least triumph level gear in all slots.

I hope they’re not too sticky about that, especially with trinkets. There are plenty of classes that have level 200 trinkets that are perfectly viable all the way up to ICC25 (and maybe beyond). Trinkets, as we all know, are notorious for not dropping in raids (don’t talk to me about how many times I’ve cleared ToC25 and never even seen Reign of the Dead drop!), and some of the badge trinkets (I’m looking at you, level 264 caster DPS trinket!) are crap.

The timing finally worked out where I was able to get into an ICC10 pug on Friday night; the group (60% from one guild) were nice and I held my own healing-wise, but they were very slow so after a few hours we had only gotten just past the ship battle and I had to go. I was the only priest (and for parts of the run the only cloth-wearer) but unfortunately no cloth dropped for me.

I also noticed with some embarassment that I had totally forgotten to gem my Flowing Robes of Ascent – I hope they didn’t notice. Last night I plugged in +SP and +Int gems. Then I realized I need to start doing dailies – I’m down below 500g! Dungeons and the occasional raid pug aren’t bringing in any income.

At the moment, I’m sort of wondering what the next step should be. As I said, I’m running the random heroics (usually 2-3 a day), so I’m slowly accumulating those Emblems of Frost, and lots of Emblems of Triumph. I’ve used the Triumphs to upgrade all my gear, so most everything is 232 (or more, in a couple of cases). So I’m sory of scratching my head trying to figure out what comes next…

Pools of Aggonar…

Thinking of leaving HP althogether now and heading over to SHATT. I just cannot find that guy’s BONES. Thotbot says they’re in the vicinity of that big bar that sticks out, but damn if I can find them.

Do I need to fly up to that landing-pad looking thing where that big ol’ demon stands and kill him first (he’s a 63 elite - we’re 64 nothing)?

Thanks

Q

No, you don’t need to kill the elite. The bones are BIG! It looks almost like a rock formation. If you’re facing the landing pad thing with your back to where you came into the area from the road, the bones are to your left, back in that dead-end. They’re HUGE, seriously…it’s easy to dismiss them as being rocks instead of a skeleton.

I’m hovering right above some huge yellow thing with horns and what looks like a face, jay and at this level. I’m looking directly at that landing pad… is that it?

It’s this thing.

Okay, well then, I’m standing right on top of that thing and I have a swirling yellow light around my head.

Clicking on the vial tells me i still need the bones…

What do you mean when you say you’re standing right on top of it? Did you land on the head? The ribcage? Are you under the ribcage, near the arm/hand/weapon? I think when I did it the last time I was standing near the hand.

I was in the ribcage, on the head, I think I was NEAR one arm too…
