80 Blood Elf mage (my main) 80 Blood Elf death knight (my “almost-main”)
80 Blood Elf death knight (not a repeat–he’s on a different server)
76 Blood Elf priest (I really should get him to 80 someday) 70 Blood Elf rogue (I sense a trend here) (this was my original main–he used to be human) 67 Blood Elf paladin (my current project and tank-in-training)
70 Blood Elf hunter (he’s basically my herbing/alchemy toon now–with a flyer, he can hunt plants all the way up to Icecrown if I’m careful) 58 Blood Elf warlock (leveled from 28 - 58 in about 2 minutes via granted Refer a Friend levels–I have no idea how to play him, really) 55 Blood Elf rogue 20 Night Elf hunter (where’d he come from?) 16 Undead warrior
Assorted other sub-20 (mostly sub-15) random characters that I started and realized I didn’t like
Ooh, I must try this! It sounds great. I think I’ll load it up on my project paladin right now until I get used to it–changing my main raider’s interface without sufficient practice is probably not the wisest thing to do.
My advice on those jewels, Tigerseye, Lesser Moonstone, Malachite ETC. is to hang onto to them. You may not need them now but one day, maybe 10-20 levels down the road, you might need one for a recipe and then when you go to the AH to buy one the jokers have them for sale at like 12 gold.
Now the 12 gold is not an absolute of course but I have personally seen Citrine for 20 gold+ when I needed one. Having a lvl 80 miner I said eff that and went mining until I got one but it would have been nice to already have had one on hand in the bank.
Also if you plan on being a jewelcrafter later on in the game you are going to need all those anyways.
80 Tauren Death Knight - current main, BDL 80 Tauren Warrior - my first character, abandoned because I’m too cheap to pay to transfer him to Cairne 66 Undead Priest 38 Blood Elf Paladin 31 Human Priest - current guildmaster of the BDL’s sister Alliance guild on Cairne, which never took off. 27 Troll Rogue - interesting story in that I joined a random guild with him, mostly ignored them, then at some point when I was out levelling I got promoted to Guildmaster by the previous GM, who was quitting the game or something. So I have two idle Guildmasters of idle guilds.
Me, all on the same server (Sen’jin):
80 Tauren Druid (main?)
80 Troll Priest (more often my main, cause more people want to tank than heal)
80 Undead Warlock (used to be my main, before my priest)
80 Tauren Hunter
80 Blood Elf Mage
35 Orc Warrior (my auction house mule, also in a guild inhabited solely by a few alts of my husband and I)
22 Blood Elf Rogue (also in the alt-guild)
1 Dwarf Rogue - created during the Harvest festival for friends to shoot. Also reserving the name I have picked out for my future goblin shaman, “Hawaya.”
80 Orc Warrior Main. 80 Human Paladin Main ally. Leveled with my wife (mage)
74 Human Death Knight
64 Blood Elf Hunter
61 Human Death Knight
49 Human Rogue
43 Orc Warlock 41 Dwarf Hunter First character. I feel sad when I think of him sitting all alone on that PvP server
38 Undead Rogue
30 Orc Hunter
30 Human Warrior
28 Dwarf Paladin
28 Night Elf Rogue 22 Gnome Mage My most recent obsession.
20 Gnome Warlock
20 Blood Elf Paladin
19 Night Elf Hunter
19 Blood Elf Mage
14 Draenei Shaman
13 Troll Shaman
9 Undead Warlock
huh. Seeing them together like this makes me realize that I seem to favor plate melee and get bored with casters. I wonder what a psychologist would say about that.
ETA: There are countless sub-20 toons that were deleted in the great purge of 2009.
Stick non-sensitive things like your mount macro on there and add keybinds
Tell the bar you want it to stay hidden all the time
Profit. Now you’ve a hidden hotkey and your screen isn’t cluttered with your mount du jour.
You can also reskin the bars with Button Facade and/or scale the buttons up/down. My pet bar is like a third the size of everything else because I only need it to make sure that specific abilities are on/off.
Add OmniCC if you want to see timers on your CDs in addition to the Blizz countdown animation.
Just to clarify the stability: post-patches, you might have to force-load out of date addons, but BT’s never broken outright.
The blue castbar just under me is AzCastBar. I have a feeling it’s quite an old addon, but it still works fine. It’s one of those addons that’s so simple, but it works so well and it’s right in my field of vision where it’s placed.
By dungeon cooldown, do you mean the Buffs/Debuff bars above my character name? Those are Elkano’s BuffBars. There’s a third one for Tench, but I don’t use it. That’s for displaying stuff like a fishing bobble buff thing, which isn’t really that useful to me.
The dashboard at the bottom is SLDataText. Again, I think this is quite an old addon and it doesn’t show up in my Curse Client, so it may have come from WoW Interface.
If you crank the settings down to their minimum levels, you could probably run WoW on ENIAC. The recommended minimum hardware has increased slightly with each expansion, but not by much. An older computer won’t get great performance (especially anywhere with a combination of newer graphics, high population, and/or spell effects), but you should be able to play on even a fairly old computer (5-10 years), especially at lower levels and while soloing.
Pretty much anything new on the market right now should be able to more than handle the game.
Come to think of it, my DK is a dwarf, not a gnome. I created her one night when both Cairne and Alleria were down, went through most of the starting quests and never went back.
Oh dear, I’m afraid to do this but here goes.(EU servers)
80 Night Elf Druid(Evelake)-Ravencrest First character I ever rolled. 80 Orc Warrior(Pertolepe)-Stormscale My friends did a server and faction transfer but I don’t have the money to spend on that now, so this is a recent reroll, my new main I suppose.
80 Dwarf Hunter(Herlews)-Tarren Mill Second character I ever got to 60.
80 Dwarf Paladin(Emerentia)-Ravencrest Ended up being little more than an enchant bot.
80 Human Warlock(Mesmic)-Ravencrest
80 Draenei Shaman(Ishnu)-Ravencrest
80 Troll Hunter(Vanilj)-Hellscream
70 Gnome Mage(Norly)-Tarren Mill
70 Gnome Warrior(Jorly)-Tarren Mill
60 Human Rogue(Margawse)-Tarren Mill 47 Blood Elf Priest(Norly)-Stormscale The alt I’m currently leveling.
And then a whole bunch more I started but never got very far with.
I’ve not tried it, but others have tried running WoW on the MSI Wind U100and could at least tour scenic Goldshire. That’s some underpowered specs right there and very likely everything cranked down with no addons. (Personally, I stick to old school games unlikely to make my Wind melt into a puddle of electricified goo on my lap what with it lacking an active cooling solution, but that could just be me. ).
OTOH, my new Dell Studio XPS 16 will run WoW with no problem at all. Other than the factory deciding that supersaturated hues were the way to go. :dubious: Thanks much, Dell. I didn’t need my eyes bleeding from the super red roofs in Org.
Anyone know if emblem drops are staying at triumph or if they’re moving to frost before Cataclysm?
I’ve recently acquired a few primordial saronites, and since they’re gong for like 2.5k a piece I was thinking about selling them instead of making the BOE items.
Well, after Tom (aka Muzungu) gave me a boot enchant last night, I met up with Runestar who was fishing the fountain for coins, and I wondered aloud if I could trade any coins that I fished out of the fountain so he could get the credit towards the coin achievements. Also, I bitching about how I was down to one coin that I have been fishing for about 4 months now and think that the fountain was bugged because I would hit multiples of the same coins, even when I fished on different days…for instance, I would get 2 or 3 Aegwynn’s Silver Coins AND 2 or 3 Antonida’s Silver Coins while fishing over a 20-30 minute period while I needed only Alleria’s Silver Coin. This didn’t happen on just one occasion, but 3 or 4 separate occasions, spaced out over days or weeks. Just agonizing.
After I finished my bitch session, I fished up 2 copper coins and then…
On a side note, I asked Runestar if he needed any of the coins to see if it registered towards his achievements and his reply…
Naw, already have those…:smack:
So, is it possible for traded coins to register towards the achievements for another player? They are not soulbound, so has anyone tried this?
Just noting that I got my new computer yesterday evening. I had a minor scare. They only sent me a VGA cord for the 22" widescreen monitor, so I plugged it into the VGA port in the back of the computer and got NOTHING! “No signal”. I was ready to scream…I plugged and unplugged and plugged again and tried the old monitor and…nothing. Finally, I opened up the box and saw that the VGA port was onboard, whereas I had ordered a GeForce 9600 to be put in the box. Well, I look more closely and the 9600 is there…but it has no VGA port. Only VDI and S-Video. I had a moment of genius and remembered that there was some sort of adapter in my spare parts drawer for video. I went and looked and it was, thank Og, a VGA-to-VDI adapter and that solved the problem.
I have reactivated my WoW account and I’m in the process of figuring out which of my add-ons have survived the last few patches that I missed. Keeping the old contingent doesn’t work…I logged in (OMG, is Azeroth gorgeous with everything turned all the way UP) and I had no action bars at all! So I’ve been playing today with just Bartender, FuBar and its hangers-on, and EQCompare.
I can’t get over how beautiful this game is when you can actually utilize the visual effects!
