World of Warcraft General Discussion

Holy crap…that seems high! That’s makes each emblem of frost worth 108.7g each!

Welcome back, my :smack:'in Brotha!

Glad everything’s working out for you, and even though we’re on different servers, I wish you good hunting now that you’re back!

Your Pal,

Quasi

On Cairne Horde-side, Small Eggs were 2g apiece last I checked. I was incredibly disappointed when I went to Blackwater Raiders-A and discovered they were only 30-50s there. I was hoping for an easy boost in gold on a new server.

Joining the character lists:

Cairne
80 Tauren Druid (Nahren)
61 Orc Death Knight (Rugelach)
51 Blood Elf Mage (Cyranus)
26 Orc Warrior (Bonetosser)
15 Blood Elf Paladin (Kirisia)
0 Tauren Paladin (Wintaur) (post-Cataclysm :D)

Blackwater Raiders
16 Draenei Priest (Mesia)
6 Draenei Shaman (Portoa)

Cenarius
80 Draenei Paladin (Caliphax)
76 Draenei Hunter (Feralax)
58 Human Death Knight (Vaegyr)
21 Human Paladin (Mattimeo)
18 Night Elf Rogue (Mytheus)

Plus several others that have been deleted when they became obsolete.

Clearly I like me some Paladins.

I received my tax refund today, so it was off to Microcenter I went. I built an i7-920 based system with 6GB of RAM, 2 Radeon 5770s in Crossfire (I was going to go with a 5870 but they were out of stock and I was impatient), and a 64GB SSD. I’m installing all the Warcraft patches now. I’m so excited to play everything on the highest settings (at least until I step foot in Dal and have to drop them—but that’s about 8 levels off on my highest character).

I don’t think I mentioned this during Winter Veil: There was a lvl 80 nelf druid standing on the bridge between the bank and AH in IF one day handing out the cookies and beverage needed for the Treats for Greatfather Winter quest to anybody who asked. She explained in General it’s just something her guild does to be nice, and said they’d cooked up, as a guild, something like 3000 Gingerbread Cookies to give away. I thought that was pretty cool, though I suppose the Small Egg price gougers didn’t much care for it :stuck_out_tongue:

No, that was me (in my Keliraeda alter ego, of course)
Action Bar addons: I used to use Bartender, but switched to Dominos a few months ago because after trying it out I found I liked it better. Unfortunately, at this point I no longer remember why I liked it better, so I’m afraid I can’t do a compare/contrast for y’all.

And, okay, here’s my full toon list, with Armory links for my regularly-played toons:

On Lightbringer (I’ll note that these toons are all together in my “vanity guild”, The Order of The Rik, and I made sure I had at least one of every class and every Alliance race):

Eilyssana, lvl 80 human paladin
Goriisa, lvl 32 draenei shaman
Hodela, lvl 6 human warlock (guild bank/AH alt)
Syanalle, lvl 22 night elf priest
Svelexi, lvl 55 draenei mage
Castariora, lvl 65 draenei warrior
Dentek, lv 60 human death knight
Denassam, lvl 16 night elf druid
Wain, lvl 19 gnome rogue
Turanank, lvl 22 dwarf hunter
Cairne (most, but not all, of these toons are members of the Burning Dog Legion):

Chimtahna, lvl 50 tauren hunter
Pinezensuuz, lvl 30 orc warrior (his name is a cleverly disguised rendition of the SDMB in-joke, “penis ensues”)
Jenlek, lvl 22 troll priest
Keliraeda, lvl 76 blood elf paladin
Uprofen, lvl 58 troll death knight
Wossname, lvl 23 undead mage (yes, I’m a Terry Pratchett fan)
Orahka, lvl 11 orc hunter
Rikka, lvl 13 tauren druid
Hexpot, lvl 14 blood elf warlock
Flambé, lvl 1 troll mage (I’ve never actually logged him in yet)
Steamwheedle Cartel (roleplaying server):

Fahrenz, lvl 26 human warrior
Sedrel, lvl 9 blood elf hunter
Annaka, lvl 1 dwarf priest
Windrunner (I only made toons here to stay in touch with a friend):

Ozrik, lvl 22 dwarf paladin
Ponopho, lvl 1 troll warrior
Lukozh, lvl 8 human priest
Zangarmarsh

Jabloo, lv 43 troll hunter
Mihoko, lvl 8 gnome mage

Okay, installed the GearScore addon, and it says my lvl 80 human paladin’s GS is … 3935!

Without ever having set foot in a Northrend dungeon or raid

WTF, Mäng???

Targeting the mommy-friggers, engaging them, trying to kill their sorry spiritual asses, but nothing?

I thought I could hang for a while, and knock out some low-levels, but this exorcism thing’s got me bamboozled.

Got the beads, but I guess I don’t know how to use 'em.

Thanks

up to 70 gold thru Small eggs and AH shenanigans. got sh*t loads still up 4 auction too, so looks like getting a mount at lvl 20 will be no problemo for this char.

I hate that quest. You’re doing the last part, in the room at the inn, right? Cramped quarters, can’t see what you’re doing?

I think the main idea isn’t so much to kill those things as it is to keep them off the exorcist guy. So if you can just keep their attention while the exorcist does his thing, you’ll bee all right. But watch out - the flying things eventually go away and you get slimes on the floor instead.

So I just gave up WoW yesterday. I had one max level toon, a feral druid tank with a 2900 WoW Heroes score. Raided everything except Icecrown Citadel. Then something happened a couple weeks ago to cause my computer to lag. I’ve checked it over and over and can’t find anything different. Dunno what happened. I went from running fine with the highest settings to lagging bad with the lowest. It was incredibly frustrating and nothing was improving so I gave it up. I deleted the game and my account runs out in a few days.

Needless to say I’m really missing it. I’m doing the free trial on Lord of the Rings Online but it really doesn’t feel like anything close to WoW. And I lag. So when I found this thread I figured I might follow for a while.

So quest on, adventurers!
My 2 cents.

Yeh, that’s the one, Rik. Seen some slimies too. Thotbot’s really not to clear on that one, so I guess I will try it your way and see what happens.

Thanks!

Sorry for the long post-quote, but, um, I don’t know who you were talking with, but it wasn’t me. :dubious:

EDIT: I just came across Mister Rik’s later post. The proliferation of K-named characters in the Burning Dog Legion has come back to haunt us!

Say, I’ve been meaning to ask about this for a while now …

Anybody have any clue what the hell these things are:

http://www.mister-rik.com/hosted/round_thing_stormpeaks.jpg

I find those scattered around in the oddest places in Storm Peaks, and they always have that unexplained, ring-shaped, shadow-like mark on the ground nearby (by “unexplained” I mean there seems to be nothing that could be casting that shadow).

It’s just a piece of TitanTech. The Storm Peaks are full of those…old cast-off parts from the things the Titans had created.

Those manhole-cover-ish things actually do have a purpose. They function as graveyards in Storm Peaks.

Really? I don’t remember that. Of course, it’s probably been at least six months since I’ve been in SP.

It can be hard to notice, I think, since the usual player response to dying is to immediately start running to your corpse, so you don’t notice the details of the graveyard. It took me a few deaths before I connected the objects with graveyards, myself.

Continuing to taunt Skammer: Yesterday, first three randoms: Forge of Souls, Pit of Saron, H ToC. I queued one more time to see if it would give me Halls of Reflection, but no such luck.

Also, man do I miss the Northrend-style dungeon maps when I’m in an old-world instance.

Have you tried Atlas?
