World of Warcraft General Discussion

That’s basically what I do, except instead of wanding I start spamming Shadow Bolt (or Drain Life if necessary). And after the DoT’s, I send my pet on to the next mob while I finish off the first.

At level 80, with enough spellpower, normal mobs will die from just Corruption and Curse of Agony while being unable outdamage Siphon Life, so you can just dot everything sight, my biggest problem was that the ones that aren’t dead yet daze me and that I leave a fairly long trail of unlooted bodies when I run around looking for new victims.

Wait, we have DoTs that aren’t immolate?

My leveling rotation was two speed: fast, CoA → corruption → shadowbolt until you run out of mana; and slow, tap up and CoA → corruption → drain life until you’re back up to full health/mana. Use a succubus or fel hound as a DPS source, all aggro should be on you (though very little should actually reach you), try to pull single mobs.

It’s an internal issue. I get lag waiting for a slideshow of pics I already have downloaded to run. I’ve run antiviral, tried system restore… nothing worked. I’m gonna have to get it looked at. :frowning:

Gratz on the powerlevelling. Are you concerned about making money? I was thinking of switching to JC/LW. But I’ve heard that JCing is not a moneymaker (I never run out of honor for gems) and when I looked at things like armor potions or Stoneblood Flasks they always seemed to sell for LESS than the mats. In fact I was actually buying more flasks than I needed when the price was low in order to relist them when the price went back up. I don’t see how people make cash on them unless they are farming the mats themselves. And even then, why not sell the mats if you can get more? I figure leatherworking would be pretty similar. I find gathering professions to be a lot more reliable for income.

Just for fun, there’s a gnome upstairs at the clothing store in Dalaran (the one with the turban vendor in the upstairs room). If you sit down in the chair beside him, he’ll shine your shoes. You get a buff “Ooh, Shiny!” or something like that and your shoes/boots sparkle for 5 minutes or so.

Completely useless for combat but really kind of fun!

Speaking of Dalaran NPC behavior, I’ve noticed that if you /pet Jones, the snoozing cat on the stair landing inside the Legerdemain Lounge, you’ll see “Jones purrs contentedly” in the chat box. Though I’m not sure if the purring was an actual response to my /pet, or if it was just an emote that he randomly throws out and I coincidentally happened to /pet him right before he emoted.
And … Grrrrr! Realms still down! Always on my day off! Why? WHY?!

I roffled.

These are world bosses, which we didn’t get any of in Wrath. A lowbie-ish place to find one is in the center of Duskwood–one of the corrupted green dragons sometimes appears in the subzone that’s right in the middle of the map.

Ick. I thought it might be, when you said that you had the same problem in another game. Have you done a full reformat?

I have JC/Alch for the profession bonuses for endgame raiding. Another side bonus is that they’re very handy professions for a raider. However, gathering professions will almost always give you the best income.

That’s awesome.

The screenshot was actually of my warrior doing that PITA quest in Tanaris, escorting Tooga the turtle all the way across the entire frakkin’ zone. I only did that quest that once. Once was enough!

Edit: when I looked at the screenshot, my first thought was “he thinks my tail is a big earthworm”. Turtles love earthworms.

Yeah, but the green dragons (there are four of them, right) are all in places you wouldn’t normally go in the course of questing, and if I remember right there are a buncha annoying elites patrolling around near their home bases (this is based on one time poking around in Feralas, maybe three or four months ago). The dragon in the Broken Lands is the only one I can think of that you’re likely to run across in the normal course of play. I guess there’s one in Swamp of Sorrows, too, but I was lucky enough never to see him on the one toon I levelled up there.

Where are these “Broken Lands”? I’ve never heard of them.

I don’t think Somnus is a skull-level. However, my toons saw him more than once, and I can confirm that he’s a ninja dragon. My husband and I were questing together, and all I saw was head comes in from side of screen chomp chomp! dead. Grr.

Anachronos might be a skull-level. Big dragon in Tanaris, inside that little canyon-type area to the southeast of Gadgetzan.

I’m assuming he means Blasted Lands.

Interestingly enough, I believe the Emerald Dream Portal in Duskwood is the only one of the four that doesn’t have scads of the dragonkin running around. The only thing in there other than critters is the dragon.

Caverns of Time. Or at least the front porch.

Fun fact: Anachronos can’t be killed. If you try, when you get his HP down far enough, he’ll drop combat and (IIRC) despawn. (He’s part of the AQ opening quest chain, not an actual world boss.)

Interesting. Obviously, never been there; probably shows just how little I’ve played on the Alliance side. And yeah, Blasted Lands, Broken Lands, same diff. Lands That Have Not Been Treated With Proper Respect.

Incidentally, the Blasted Lands dragon is a pretty easy solo for a level 80 (or at least a plate-wearing 80); I ran across him while riding around doing Fire Festival stuff and decided, “what the heck”. He dropped 3 repeatable-quest thingies that you can turn in for 40s/50s-level blues.

I know why.

Against my better judgement, I went ahead and updated WoW on my work computer. The downtime is directly attributed to my need to play some during work.

My apologies.
Realm status.

Haha! Today’s Questionable Content is awesome

Also, Harrumph! Realms have started coming back up, and of the five realms on which I have toons, the first to come back online were Windrunner and Steamwheedle Cartel, which contain toons I almost never play. And then Zangarmarsh finally came online, so I can play my troll hunter. But, naturally, my two main servers, Lightbringer and Cairne, were still down last time I looked.

Cairne is up now, but seems to be lagging badly (at least at the Org AH where I am trying to scan).

Another QC reader, eh? Such a good comic.

I just recently caught up with the last hundred or so strips I’d missed (the webcomics that I still read, I tend to read in chunks). Good times.
