Thanks, Mister Rik!

  1. Haven’t let a Healer rezz me since y’all told me about the cost of that, and have found my corpse on my own with no probs since then, but… sometimes when the game asks if I want to “resurrect now”?, I rezz in a shitstorm and I don’t have time to eat to get my health up to par, and then guess what - I die all over again!

Is there a way to avoid that which I haven’t explored yet?

  1. Since we’re a level 69 fighting - sometimes - 71’s, we eat a lot more, so when I go back to the inn, I always stock up on foods that speed healing, and this, as I mentioned before, keeps me from fighting bad guys at a low-level health.

Thanks

Q

Before you click the “Resurrect Now?” button, make sure you look around the area where you’re standing. You’ll be able to see any mobs that are within 40 (I think) yards of your corpse. So what I usually do is run my ghost right to my corpse, then I turn in a full circle and look around carefully. If there are no mobs near, I go ahead and rez right there. If there are mobs too close, I look for an “open” area where I can safely rez.

Also, glad to help with the guild sig!

I did make an interesting discovery, though. I rolled up a lvl 1 human warlock specifically to sign Quasi’s guild charter (I named her “Badlilsister” and told Quasi she’s Heather’s younger sister :stuck_out_tongue: ), and since he was in Borean Tundra I thought it would be fun to hop on the boat and take the cruise up there. On the way to the boat I stopped at a mailbox and picked up my new Core Hound Pup (my authenticator arrived today). Arrived at Valiance Keep and got off the boat … and noticed my Pup wouldn’t cross the “threshold” from the boat to the dock. And sure enough, the boat left, and there went my Pup with it. Weird. A little later I resummoned him, and when I got on the next boat to go home, he wouldn’t get on the boat. So there’s something about the “border” there. I’ve actually noticed the same thing with the dock & inn at Auberdine - companion pets won’t cross from the dock to the inn or vice versa.

Anyway, I got back to Northshire and decided I might as well put a few levels on the toon. Around level 4, I was accosted by a lvl 1 mage who stuck a guild invite in my face. His guild is named, get this, “rasist against fat people” [sic]. Yeah, good luck with that, pal
Is anybody else finding this patch as buggy as I am? Seriously, this is the buggiest patch I’ve seen since I’ve been playing:

• I’m frequently having to right-click on questgivers multiple times before their dialog box will stay open (it either doesn’t open or it pops open and then immediately closes).

• When I did the “That’s Abominable!” daily quest in Icecrown (both Tuesday night and Wednesday morning), my reanimated abominations kept vanishing into thin air a few seconds after I reanimated them. They didn’t vanish every time, but the did often enough that it took me over 20 minutes to finish that quest.

• On the “Rescue at Sea” daily, the kvaldir would simply stop respawning for several minutes at a time.

• I heard several people complaining that the jugs of wine for the “Convention at the Legerdemain” cooking daily weren’t spawning, and indeed I had to wait a very long time for one to spawn for me.

• While playing the warlock I made to sign Quasi’s charter, the game would completely lock up every time I tried to talk to the warlock trainer in Northshire. This one went away when I disabled my addons. I hope the problem is confined to that one trainer, because I do not relish the idea of going through all of my addons trying to figure out which one is causing the problem.

With all the bugs I see of that variety (in every patch, but not usually this many all in one patch), I’m really starting to wonder if the only people who play on the Public Test Realm are hardcore raiders who just go straight for the new raid content and don’t test anything else.

Well, I’ve been totally unable to even get into the game today, which I guess counts as buggy.

Whoah! Got 1 more, but this ain’t as easy as I thought it would be!

Might be the time of night it is, but I’m running into a lot folks who may have just rolled a toon for an alt and aren’t interested…

Using SFG’s 1/4 gold offer and letting 'em drop out once the guild is chartered.

Dumb question and jayjay, sorry, but I musta not wrote something you told me down correctly.

To whisper:

Type /w, then the toon’s name, then what you wanna say, then enter, right? You don’t have to target (right-click) them first?

I’ve just been using the easy way, and making them a friend and sending a message, but I can’t seem to make the other way work for me.

I KNOW I’m leaving out a step, sorry!

Q

It should be /w Nameymcnamerson <space>. After you type the space after the name, the whole thing should turn purple. After that, just type your message, then press Enter.

You can also target the person, right-click on their portrait/frame (up beside yours at the top left of the screen), and pick “whisper” from the menu that comes up. At that point, your chat enter box will turn purple and you can type your message.

Brandon and Roesse ROCK!

Thanks for joining up and thanks also for the compliment that Wolkie’s finally looking “bad-ass”!

It’s just totally awesome that y’all are doing this, and if I forgot to offer the 1/4 gold to anyone, please know that it’s coming!

I’m just flabbergasted that y’all did this!

THANKS

Q (and da Wolk’)

Oh, you fargin’ little Snobolds, and your damn totems.

We TRY to back way back out of the way of those “balls” the totems keep sending, but then we bump into one of those woolly things and pretty soon it’s “All She Wrote For The German Boy And His Toon”, 'cause those little momma-friggers just don’t come atcha one on one any more!

We’re over 50% on the way to 70, but DOOD, it seems like it’s getting harder and harder to get XP, and I really WOULD like to get WRATH done by the time CAT surfaces!

Don’t mind me… just venting my spleen.

Whatever the FRIGG that means! (sticking a hole in it, ah reckon!)

Thanks

Q

They’re only $169.00.

I bought the BEST possible stereo system for WoW before I went broke, and even though I STILL have all the components, and could hook 'em up, I dare not, because me and my wife D are living in an upstairs apartment with our 80+ year-old sister in law and she’d FREAK - I know she would - if she heard all the battle sounds.

So I was wondering… since I am already listening to my beloved WoW music on my regular head phones, would it behoove me to save up money to get the others, since I can’t get my “surround-sound” right now?

Would those head-phones give me “sense-surround”, or just stereo?

I ask just because WoW rocks it for me, and I’d just like to know, thanks!

Q

Well, fortunately, when my draenei mage dinged 67 tonight, she didn’t have any trouble with the mage trainer in Exodar. So maybe it’s just that one trainer.

The top issue is very annoying and it seems some NPCs are consistently worse than others. Which is just odd and especially annoying when it is the major quest giver in HP. As to number two the cheese wasn’t spawning in Dalaran on my server last night we had about 20 people waiting in the cheese shop dancing. Which was nice.

Apparently my guildies have been bored. This particular issue has been fixed with 3.3.3, but apparently the Icecrown “blow up an abomination” quest… worked in Dalaran.

Here is evidence of their handiwork.

The queue seems to be very long on battlegrounds ever since 3.3.3 hit, so I didn’t end up pvping my way to the end of the 40-49 bracket. Instead I queued up for random dungeons and ended up in Blackrock Depths for the first time. I think it was called the Prison wing, or something like that.

I ended up running it three times with the same group. It’s a very quick run with the new way the dungeons are broken up.

Then I headed to Azshara and got the flight path there and started questing, and I hit 50 soon after. With all the battleground tokens I redeemed earlier, I was able to buy a couple things from the WSG vendors and still have tons of honor left over.

Most of the Warsong items were only costing 500 honor, which is very cheap. I could have bought one of the weapons there, but I already have Blade of the Wretched from Sunken Temple, which is my first cool looking sword, as well as a Inventor’s Focal Sword for my off-hand.

I have been tearing it up in combat spec, with my new weapons, I’ve been pulling aggro from pug tanks a lot more often since I made the shift to combat spec, and I have to be careful to back off when my threat gets up there.

I tried to queue for Alterac Valley, to start gaining the nice exp from AV, and to check out the place, but it wasn’t available, then I realized AV has different brackets than the rest. So I need to wait one more level. I’m sure the top of the 51-60 bracket in AV is going to be very dominant with their Outlands gear.

I was thinking even newbier than that–the actual starter zones where your character first shows up at level 1, like the Abbey in Elwynn Forest or Coldridge Valley in Dun Morogh.

Guild chat isn’t chat about guilds–it’s chat for your guild. So when you’re in a guild, guild chat talks to everyone in your guild, but no one outside it. And when you’re not in a guild, there’s no one to talk to. (However, if you’re the only person in the guild, you can still use gchat… You’ll just be talking to no one.)

All that “Resurrect Now” button means is that you’re within a close radius of your corpse–it doesn’t mean you have to do it *now *or it will go away. You could stand there for an hour and the button would still be there.

Like **Mister Rik **said, you want to take your time to look around. Make sure there’s nothing nasty in your immediate vicinity. If you’re standing next to a monster, try moving around–you’ve got a decent “leash” around the area of your corpse, so you can almost always find a spot where there are no monsters, or, worst-case, where there’s on you could kill before it kills you again, then stop to bandage or eat.

Remember, you’ll always resurrect in the spot where you hit the “Resurrect Now” button–not where your corpse is, unless your ghost also happens to be standing on top of your corpse.

Yeah, vanity pets have always been iffy about certain boundaries. They tend to get “stuck” in those spots, especially boat-to-dock.

That’s certainly a lot of it. But there’s also the problem that a lot of issues can be caused by addons; while Blizzard is in favor of people writing them, they don’t make their game changes factoring in what elements are currently being used by addons. So when the bug is being caused by something external, Blizz isn’t going to care–the solution is for the addon’s developer to adapt to the new code, not the other way around.

I’m running into some of that right now, myself–I love the IceHUD addon, and the latest patch broke the shit out of it. I had to go out and pick up a new HUD Tuesday night, and I wasn’t happy about it at all. IceHUD has had a couple of updates since then that have jerry-rigged it into working again, but only for one of the layouts (one I didn’t use before).

You’re not wrong–the XP needed for each level goes up quite a bit as you move along. On the plus side, so does your quest XP and the XP you get for killing monsters. Quest XP is such a huge chunk of it, though, that it’s important to focus on completing quests instead of just killing monsters. That way, you get “double” the XP you’d get for just grinding: you get the XP from killing the mobs, and you get the quest XP from the guy who sent you out there to kill them.

The Tournament sharkmeat daily used to work in the Dalaran fountain, too. I miss those heady days of walking past Marcia Chase and seeing sharks swimming down the street.

I’m sure you’re using it already, but if it’s slipped your mind–don’t forget about Feint!

Yeah. :frowning: I wound up grabbing DHUD. It’s actually not too bad, although the lack of customization options is a little grating. It does a few things better than IceHUD, in fact.

The Burning Dog Legion was quiet last night, but three of us ran Durnholde with two people we picked up in the DF. We were level 66-67 and they were 70, so I had aggro taken away from me a couple times (especially from the 70 pally) but aside from an early wipe we didn’t have any trouble with the instance. And I got some good upgrades - new shoulders and a new chestpiece (which makes me look ridiculous - it looks like a plate bra). Along with the new helm I bought on the AH I had to buy 7 new gems.

Except - I have the quest for Don Carlos’ hat and he was no where to be found. I found his trail on Wowhead and we scoured it several times but couldn’t find him. I recall that he was bugged in the past, anyone know if there are still problems with him spawning?

ETA: Ferret, that video is hilarious.

I ended up going back to MetaHUD - it was last updated in December, but the patch didn’t break it.

I love how you can see people running to the abomination, and a few popping parachutes after the explosion. They spent quite a while getting shots for the video; they were discussing it in guildchat and I guess also on our Vent server, judging by the audio at the start.

That’s what I picked up, too. There are some features I like, but at the moment, the new things I like are being outweighed by the old things I miss. (The three biggest are: (a) a separate cast bar, instead of one that wraps around my HP; (b) a lag indicator on the cast bar, so I can tell when it’s okay for me to start casting my next spell; and (c) the ability to make the bars fatter, so it’s easier to see where my HP is at with a glance.)
