It’s moved around for me based on gear level. For awhile Kings was better. Now talented Might is, followed by Kings, followed by untalented Might (assuming all other raid buffs - it changes even more based on what else is up).
A 10% AGI buff is 244 AGI for me right now (fully buffed other than Pally buffs), which for my current stat weightings is equivalent to 524 AP. The 10% INT buff is worth another 83 AP. So the total is somewhere between the 550 Might and the 685 Might.
If I went back to gemming straight AGI (right now I’m soft-capped ArPen until I get a non-ArPen proc trinket), I’m reasonably sure Kings would come out on top again. And if I ever gem for the ArPen hard-cap then it’s possible even untalented Might will come out above Kings.
Fortunately, as a LW I can just bring Drums and make sure I get both buffs.
ETA: I should add that Kings also gives a mana pool boost, which can be helpful on some fights.
For my pally:
Kings for all tanks, druids, DKs
Might for Rogues, Hunters and Melee, and pets/summons
Wisdom for Priests, Mages, Shammies.
Kings if I’m not sure what spec they’re doing.
Might on my Ret Pally.
On occasion, I will get a Mage or Shammy asking for Kings afterwards.
Every mage I know (including mine) much prefers Kings over Wisdom. You’ll never go wrong giving a mage Kings–even mana-hog Arcane mages like me have ways to get mana back (Evocate, mana gems, etc). If we expect to have severe mana issues and want Wisdom, we’ll request it.
Also, if you’ve got a shaman in the party, be sure to coordinate with them because one of their totems overwrites Wisdom (or the other way around) so don’t duplicate your efforts.
Yeah, Wisdom, especially in LK, seems to be more the exception rather than the rule. Decently-geared chars have very few mana issues, and if they do it’ll be quickly obvious.
That happened once or twice on my boomkin, I think it was. We were running Auchindoun instances and I found I drained mana faster than Innervate could refresh. So the Pally I was running with put me on Wisdom and that fixed the issue.
Yeah, my current priest doesn’t really have mana issues in either disc or shadow form; wisdom is kind of a waste of time. As shadow, he sometimes needs to dissipate late in a raid boss fight, which is annoying; as disc I haven’t yet hit anything that pushes me down below 80% mana (haven’t had to spam prayer of healing for anything, which would probably do the trick).
And speaking of healing, I just healed for my first turbo-gonzo speed tank - we were doing UP, and I almost let us wipe when he got the Scala Sorrowgrave thing started and then went downstairs and pulled the first 2 trash groups afterwards. I’d seen tanks grab the one abomination before and get him out of the way - never seen anyone go all the way downstairs. The tank was down to about 5k hp by the time I got him in range.
Nothing like using up all your gems and several Titanium Bars only to have the very last crafting fail to give a skillup. I’m now sitting at 449 JC. :smack: Oh well. The Icy Prism cooldown tomorrow will push me over. Now I just need to start collecting designs as fast as I can and start making some friggin’ money off this.
On the upside, when I mentioned my crap gear and linked my ilvl 166 chest piece to gchat, a guildie immediately told me that if I could get the Crusader Orbs, she’d supply the rest of the mats to make Titanium Razorplate and Titanium Spikeguards. The Crusader Orbs cost 1400 gold off the AH, but those two pieces, crafted, sell for about 5000 gold total, so it’s a hell of a win. Now all I need is a better libram and all my gear will be 200 or better for Retribution, and I just need another 4k honor for that.
I usually do that if I think the healer can handle it, though I usually warn him that there’s a big pull incoming. No need to stand around and watch RP you’ve seen a 100 times before when you can clear trash.
After I downloaded Pally Power I spent the time to look up who would want what before I went into my first heroic. After giving combinations of Kings, Wisdom or Might I was asked by everyone for Kings. Since then only one hunter has asked for Might and while I always buff pets with Might everyone else gets Kings and I have no complaints.
I take it we all know they’re consolidating the blessings into just two for cataclysm, Kings and Might+Wisdom? Makes things easier.
Way back in this thread some of you gave some advice for jousting which I copied to an email but forgot to include who wrote it. Anyway thank you I finally put aside an hour and stuck with it until it clicked and now I have it down so that I win every challenge. Another two nights and I will be Champion and I will be happy never to have to kiss another frog.
Yeah, jousting gets really easy once you get the timing down and understand all the abilities. It’s entirely possible to solo the Boneguard Commanders for Battle at the Citadel when you know what you’re doing, and the Valiants you have to fight for factional championship are an out-and-out joke. It’s just tedious as anything.
Last night some BDL alts ran Shattered Halls - we had two pallies, a priest and a lock and pugged another lock.
I was a little bit nervous going in because 1) I had never done SH (or any of the level-70 BC dungeons) before; and 2) none of us actually were 70 yet. I thought it would be difficult but it was actually quite a bit easier IMO than the last two instances we’ve done (S. Labs and Steamvault). No wipes despite some pretty big pulls. I even got a nice upgrade for my tanking pants (Greaves of the Shatterer), but I can’t wear them for another level and a half.
Next week the plan is to do Black Morass if everyone has done the Old Hillsbrad prereq. If anyone is still locked out we’ll do Hillsbrad again which should be a piece of cake.
That’s what I thought he was doing at first, and I was waiting for him to drag the abomination back up the stairs, but he kept going further downstairs instead; he was down to about half his hit points when I realized what was happening and ran down after him.
I have developed a rule of thumb for evaluating BC bosses now: two-headed ogres are Bad News. That one boss was the only one who came close to wiping us; I didn’t realize that he not only wiped threat, he also was untauntable. (I tried to peel him off one of the locks and onto my plate-encased dps ass, but no such luck.)
I’ve killed a couple of Boneguard Commanders already, not intentional but my stupidity at ignoring nameplates. I now know they have a different number of shields so are easy to spot.
See, as a 'lock, most of the time I get Kings right away. Sometimes, though, they’ll give me Wisdom. If that happens, I politely request Kings. I’ve only ever had one person get pissy about it. Thing is, If I need mana, I just Life Tap for it. I might not ever be at 100%, but I won’t run out.
My friend joked that I turn my mana into DPS (because I run through it like mad). I counter with, “Well, what else am I supposed to be using it for?”
I refuse to even toss them an Innervate when I’m Druiding it up, unless they’re the only ones short on mana and we’re going straight into a boss or difficult spawn where we need everyone at full strength right that second. If they know how to play their classes, they shouldn’t need Innervate, and if they don’t know, they won’t learn if I do give it to them.
No kidding. I had my finger on Hand of Reckoning the whole time, waiting for the aggro reset, and when it came, poof he was Immune. D’oh! Took me a few seconds to recover.
Even as Holy, I love my shadow fiend even if I don’t need/get to use him very often.
