No. He only sells x number of kittens per day. (I think it’s 1/day, but it might be 2 or 3/day…)
Don’t let the others fool you. Big tough paladins are absolutely not allowed to have fuzzy little kitties.
Mine has a silver tabby
1 per spawn, I think. Mister Rik, there are other vendors like this, some of them with regular items that they always have and they’ll sometimes have 1 or 2 of an uncommon item…recipes, enchants, enchanting materials, weapons. If they have a special one like that, it’ll have a (1) or (x)(whatever number they have) in the lower right corner. Enchanting supply vendors usually have maybe 1 or 2 of the low level enchanting materials per every few hours or so.
Level 10-20 zones, Alliance:
Westfall, Darkshore, Loch Modan, Bloodmyst Isle.
Level 20-30 zones, Alliance:
Redridge, Duskwood, Wetlands, Ashenvale, StoneTalon Peaks.
Bounce around, spread the Pally love!
There’s another kid I found out by the ram vendors in Dun Morogh who sold me a bunny pet.
Humans sells kittens, the Dark Elves sell owls, the Dwarf/Gnomes sell bunnies, the Dranei sell moths. (IIRC)
You can also try flipping over to the Eastern Kingdoms and questing around Tarren Mill & assorted quests - there will be a bunch of green quests killing humans, or you can go straight ahead to the ogres in the Alterac Mountains. I forget what level Dustwallow Marsh is - I think it’s probably still a bit high level for you. In any case, I know that if I wanted to, I could level a horde-side player all the way to 60 and barely touch the quests and zones I did with my one high-level character last time. The Burning Crusade stuff is a bit more linear - hard to avoid doing Hellfire Peninsula-then-Zangarmarsh-then-Tarokar (after which you have a bit more choice), but then Northrend you have some options: I’ve been doggedly plugging away at earning all the zone-quest achievements, but I also hit level 80 halfway through Zul’Drak, which is about halfway through the expansion.
Does that Crazy Cat Lady in Elwynn sell her cats?
Now I’m wondering about something my tauren hunter came across. While he was doing that quest killing dwarves (Bael’Duran?) in The Barrens, he shot a few Dig Rats, and picked up their corpses. Later on, going through my bags there was a stack of dead dig rats to sell, and one that, on mouseover, said, “This one’s still moving. Why don’t you let it go?” So I let it go and it sat down between my feet and just stayed there. So now I wonder if I could have tamed it.
Yep, and they’re not limited quantity. It’s just the white kitten the boy sells that is.
I’ll second this suggestion as well - I ran into the same problem with my Tauren Hunter in the low 30s. I caught the Zepp to Undercity and found a ton of level-appropriate quests (too many actually) in Tarren Mill/Alterac (including the Frostmaw quest, which is actually picked up in Thunder Bluff and gives a pretty nice hunter headpiece - I think it comes after the Steelsnap quest).
Then once you’ve done these and get up towards 40 there are a ton of quests in Stranglethorn Vale (Booty Bay and Grom’gol). These took me all the way to lvl 41 with no real breaks in difficulty. My bigger problem now is the 25-quest limit and finding people to run the mid-level dungeons.
Yes, you can buy several different cat pets from the Crazy Cat Lady, for 40s each.
Don’t know about the dig rats, except that you can use them to make Dig Rat Stew. I’m almost certain you can’t tame them, though.
Actually, you could have saved him. As a pally, you have a spell called “consecrate” (think that’s the name)…this turns a small area of ground around the pally into sacred ground, causes damage over time to all hostile creatures within the area, and generates tons of threat…this would make the mobs attack you rather than the NPC. You can use your retributon aura…this causes holy damage to any mob hitting one of your allies, and generates threat for you. Another tool to help keep aggro off the npc (or teammates) by using your stun and other judgments…you need to do some damage to each mob to give them a reason to fight you rather than other targets. Your new taunt spell will help with aggro…but it’s sort of an “oh shit” button usually saved for getting mobs off the healer.
An alternate method to solo that quest is to run ahead of the npc, and pull the mobs before they aggro on him.
Once you complete that quest, you get the final quest in that chain…to fetch the head of Van Cleef, final boss in the Deadmines instance. The reward for pally/warrior types is a nice pair of mail pants, blue quality. Druid/shammy/rogue can choose a blue quality chest armor, and squishies can get a staff.
On your druid, bail on Darkshore for the time being. Go over to Westfall, and quest there instead…you can get some levels and return to Darkshore when it’s a little more survivable for ya.
I don’t know if anyone else mentioned it, but there’s a nice feature on your minimap when you’re questing. The magnifying glass opens up a menu of things you can search for on the minimap. While all the choices can be helpful from time to time, the one I leave on as my default is “low level quest”. This will let you see all nearby quest givers who still have unfinished quests for you. It even puts pale gold “!” over their heads.
These low level quests won’t give you much xp (but it will always give some), but more importantly they will open up later quests. You can do the low level quests quickly, and once you get to the ones your level you’ll be getting good xp, too. And many quests quests will give you gold, items (to sell for gold), and reputation. Reputation will give you price discounts at same-faction vendors.
So look for, and do, those low level quests.
This is important, especially if you’re going for Loremaster or Diplomat achievements: Reputation does not diminish by level of quest. In other words, while a quest that’s 5 levels lower than you may not give you much more than 2-digit XP, it will still give you FULL reputation. No matter how much lower level it is than your current level, you still get the full reputation reward with that facton for completing it.
This is how I got my Ambassador title (exalted with all 5 primary factions). I went back to all the starting zones and did all the quests. While the quests are mindblowingly easy, it’s great to start there, because there are at least 10 quests that give ~250 rep each. Nowhere else in the game can you get so much rep so easily or quickly.
By 70, I was about a third into Revered with all factions. I didn’t need to go beyond the level 20-25 areas to push the majority to Exalted. Darkspear Trolls took the longest, but by targeting my reputation gains by targeting questgivers of that faction, it was easy to finish off. I think I got Exalted with the trolls in Badlands.
I could’ve done runecloth turn-ins, but I wanted to get the title without doing that. 'Cause that’s cheating.
And the Tauren sell something like hedgehogs or prarie dogs, the Forsaken have a guy selling cockroaches, the Blood Elves sell dragonhawk hatchlings, and in Orgrimmar there’s a snake vendor.
I didn’t have that yet when I tried that quest, but I do have it now - it’s one of the new abilities I mentioned getting that should be helpful.
I’ll have to round up some help for that. I haven’t found an instance I can solo
Good idea. She has to head to Westfall anyway for the Trial of the Sea Lion quest.
I just discovered this myself a few days ago. Pretty cool!
Do this while you can. The patch that just came out on the Public Test Realms makes aquatic form trainable and removes the quest completely. I personally think that’s unfortunate, because the quest gives all kinds of atmosphere to the game that just isn’t there is you can click and pay for it.
Seriously? Man…that’s stupid. While I like the convenience of simply being able to train the skill to get my Paladin mount, I do kind of wish there was still a quest for it. Even if it’s a pretty easy quest, it still provides some feeling of accomplishment.
I’ve only been playing the game for a month or two, but I’ve been doing a lot of research, and it’s a little sad how easy Blizzard keeps making the game over time. Eventually it literally will just be Progress Quest.
The aquatic form quest is neat, too. I helped my friend do it, and while it was stressful for both of us (neither of us like going so close to the open ocean) it was definitely a worthy trial quest.
Agreed, completely. Hell, I was disappointed when I got my old-school druid to 20 and cat form was trainable instead of quested, especially since I had previously found the Cat Spirit in Moonglade and thought it would enter into a cat form quest line.
