World of Warcraft questions

After watching that again, I went and looked up Britney Spears’ “Toxic” video, having not seen it in a while, and I didn’t see her performing those night elf dance moves (though maybe vaguely during the “dance through the rotating lasers” sequence). Were those dance moves from a live performance of the song, or was Blizzard copying moves choreographed by a random Korean girl on the Internet rather than Britney herself?

They also play gigs in Shattrath, alternating with a commedian (who has some of the world’s lamest jokes). Shows every hour, IIRC.

(And in Silvermoon, if you wave to them, they wave back. No way to get to the balcony, though.)

IIRC, the female night elf dance was from a French singer…let me go look.

Alizee is her name. Google her name and “night elf dance” for some YouTube proof. I can’t even come close to giving an actual link to one at work (they’re NOT not-work-safe, but they’re not really work-safe, either).

I did a bit of poking around on Youtube, and it looks like there is an ‘official’ dance Britney probably performs when doing the song live, but it doesn’t quite match the Korean girl’s moves. My guess is she came up with her own routine to the song and Blizzard used her as the model. That doesn’t feel quite right, but since Blood Elves match her and not the other folks dancing to Toxic, who are all consistent, it seems the likeliest answer.

(As much as I love the Draenei and the BElves, the dances suck. None of them work very well IMO, and even though I love Tunak Tunak Tun the dance doesn’t translate to the game at all. The Napoleon Dynamite dance just doesn’t fit with the male BElves, either.)

Oh, and yeah, you meant Blood Elf, not Night Elf. Night Elves are what jayjay said. (And my god is Alizee sexy.)

My God, I like Death Knights! Too cool…

And I took the zep to Warsong Hold. Borean Tundra looks suitably lichenated, from what I could see from the zep and the Hold. On the other hand, my poor lvl 60 DK can’t even get near the DOORS of the place without a big orange bug trying to chow down on me. Oh, well…I’m obviously at least 10 levels short at this point. Northrend is 70+, right?

68 is when you can start getting quests there. Yes, 60 is pretty low, even for an overpowered DK (and they’re all overpowered!

(I love my DK too  )

68 before people will give you quests. There is an argument for going to at least 70, or maybe a bit more. Some people feel they get more experience faster by nuking their way through a zone in the Outlands that they haven’t touched yet, thus earning the money to buy a flying mount that they won’t be able to use in Northrend until they hit level 77 and earn another thousand gold but I’M NOT BITTER.

I had two toons hit 68 and 70 just as WoTLK came out, and they headed straight to Northrend. No real problems; the 68 boomkin was used to having to drink after every other fight anyway, and she picked up upgrades at an astonishing rate.

p.s. The boomkin hit 68, bought Flight Form, and literally has never used it.

Oh, I was well aware that I was way too low for the zone. I just wanted to SEE it!

(My 10-day trial is getting upgraded to the real deal as soon as I get paid on Friday…)

See if you can find their “Power of the Horde” song; they usually play it at their appearances in The World’s End Tavern in Shattrath, and when they’ve appeared at the Darkmoon Faire. I like that one.

My husband’s hunter has a boar, scooped up at lvl 10 outside the gates of Orgrimmar, named Piggy. He was being funny, and figured you could rename the pets later. Nope! (OK, now you can if you talk to an Inscriptionist; this was years ago.) Piggy is a classic pet for him now, and even went through a phase where we joked that he’d get tells to come to raids only so that Piggy could tank them.

He’s got the queen “wasp” from Sholazar, very appropriately for her looks renamed Orchid, and grabbed the albino T. Rex from Un’goro Crater as well. I wanted something cute like “Snowball” but that was rejected by the system as a “reserved name”; we ended up going with Stompy.

Oh, and he snagged a “slime” from Sholazar - there’s some sort of Oracles(?) quest where you have to kill certain corrupted monsters in the zone, and the slime is flagged by the game as a crocodilian, and tameable! So he’s got a smaller-than-usual green slime blob as a “tank” pet. A priest that we play with cracks up every time he sees this “little green booger” charge the monsters.

Oh, that’s just brilliant.

Also, go figure. I didn’t realize L70ETC had that much of a game presence. I feel slightly foolish for my post now. :stuck_out_tongue:

Y’all made my day with those WoW music videos! I like the dance one, but my favorites are ROFLMAO, and WoW Girls Gone Wild!

So now I’m headed back to AZ after spending something like 2 hours going through all the videos and sending them to friends.

Thanks!

Quasi

Have you seen The Internet Is For Porn and Camelot?

I have nothing but admiration for people who can do that. I tried to make mechanima myself for a while but it’s HAAARD! Way harder than you’d think!

A WoW “Musical”. That’s funny, thanks for sending it - it’s going right back out to a friend!

Q

Here’s the “One More Thing”: THE BALLAD OF THE NOOB:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eM2rFZGujhk My new favorite! Hope some of you haven’t seen it yet?

The favor: Since I’m just a 12, would someone meet me in Alecstrasia and take a look at me and tell me what I need to do with my abilities, talents and stuff. I promise not to make a habit of this, but I have so much stuff in my bags, I don’t know what to get rid of and what to keep.

Also I’m a blacksmith apprentice, but I’m stuck because I’m not high enough of a level.

Thanks

Quasi

I like Big Blue Dress

Trying out the various pets is a good chunk of why I chose a hunter (I’m considering trying a priest, but I hear they’re not easy to level. Still, I want to be helpful to the guild when I get higher). Your husband was lucky to get that slimy one- the latest patch has made them not-tamable, so I hope he holds on to it!

Yes, he’s extremely happy. It still has a slime “skin” as well, though he says it’s such a good tank, he’d be happy even if it looked like a croc. (The thing was off-tanking mobs in Heroic Gundrak tonight.)

Correct, I mistyped. And yeah, Alizee is teh hotness. I came across her a few years ago.
My human paladin succeeded in collecting 11 Ancestry Coins. I don’t think there are any more in areas she can access. She got SW/Goldshire/Westfall, IF/Kharanos/Theslamar, Darnassus/Dolanaar/Auberdine/Astranaar, and Booty Bay. There was one more Elder in STV, in the northeast corner, but when she ran up there the mobs outside were all level ??, so I decided to skip it. But she had enough Coins to purchase both a Festive Purple Dress and a Festive Black Pantsuit, as well as a stack of the food thingy.

I wonder if Blizzard realized how many characters were going to die attempting to celebrate this Lunar Festival. I mean, the areas around the elders and in Moonglade are just littered with skeletons … Seems to defeat the purpose of the festival ;p Maybe there’s a trick to it. I wonder, if you entered an enemy city unarmed to show your peaceful intent (only during the festival, of course), perhaps you’d be permitted to pass unmolested by the guards. Wonder if anybody’s tried that.

My copy of Burning Crusade arrived today, and I’ve already made a Draenei shaman over on Lightbringer. I’ll probably have a blood elf somethingorother petitioning to join the BDL soon enough

It’s for the level 80s. Only 70-80s are going to survive being jumped by city guards long enough to get to the elder. Plus one of the Lunar Festival achievements relies on you being able to access Northrend dungeons.

Coming to this game from City of Heroes, I find it a little annoying how much stuff is really only accessible to max-level characters. It makes the leveling journey more of a nuisance than it should be.

Holy Priests are hard to level, but not if you have a group of friends to play with, and nothing makes friends like a holy priest, when I levelled my Holy priest I only did dungeons with groups, I had a good reputation as a healer so I always had a group ready to play

A shadow priest can solo level really, really fast
Most priest level as shadow and respec at level 80 to holy to get into the raids, but I realy enjoyed leveling as a holy priest. Healing groups and later raids is a completely different game the regular World of Warcraft, (IMO very rewarding), and the practice you get from starting holy will serve you well in later levels
