Humans gain rep faster than the other races. It’s one of their racial bonuses.
Actually, I’d be pretty surprised and impressed if Mister Rik’s human pally managed to achieve Exalted with Thunder Bluff no matter how high level he is.
(sorry, couldn’t resist.)

Well, if he died and came back as a Forsaken…
(Quick poll: how many people, creating their Death Knights, used a former character of theirs as a template? So far I’ve done it for all 3 DKs I’ve created.)

Not me, but my blood elf DK is the son of my main (though neither of them know it). If I can ever get away from WoW long enough to get back into writing again, I’ve got a whole story planned out about it. The DK’s mother left my main (a rather driven and Machiavellian mage) after finding out she was pregnant because she didn’t want her child subjected to that kind of upbringing. Several years later, mother and son were both killed by the Scourge when they sacked Silvermoon and destroyed the Sunwell, and the son was raised by Arthas’s forces as a DK. Now that he’s broken free of Arthas’s control and knowing just enough about his father to draw the wrong conclusion that he betrayed his mother, he’s looking for Dad with thoughts of exacting some revenge.
My spousal unit, who has a human paladin who grew up in what was now the Eastern Plaguelands, plans to start a DK who’s the pally’s sister. He can’t decide whether to make her human or Forsaken, though.
I don’t play my DK, just created him to enslave him to remain parked in Ambermill and watch for the Black Tabby drop.
My personal mini-gripe: I miss the days when a rare pet meant it had some kind of extra kick, nut just it looked cool, dammit. I run to the Barrens from Darkshore for a rare, it should have some kind of gift, attacking faster or something.
That said, what experiences/advice do you have? I’ve been going by Mystic Hunter, but I’d like Doper talk as well.
I have a question: My highest toon is 54, how soon can I get him to Outland? And, how do I get there? Is there a string of quests that appear at a certain level or what?
BTW, I know I can pay a mage to teleport me there but I’d rather take the normal routes.

58 is the earliest level you can get quests in Outland, and go through the portal. The portal itself is in the Blasted Lands. Just go in through the Swamp of Sorrows and follow the road–it’s hard to miss. I’m sure there’s a quest that directs you out there when the time is right, but I don’t remember where you get it.

There’s a portal in the Blasted Lands that will be accessible to you at lvl 58. Pretty much head straight south from the entrance at the north, go into the crater when you see it, and the portal will be really hard to miss. From there, talk to the NPC with the exclamation point and they’ll send you on your way.
Congrats on exalted with Stormwind. My human mage is level 74. I sent him back to finish off all of the low-level quests he missed in Stormwind, Elwyn Forest, Westfall, Deadmines, and Stockades. Then I visited fifty-some-odd elders (getting four or five achievements along the way), each of which gave me 83 rep (because of the human rep bonus). He STILL has about 8,000 rep to go to exalted.
Is there a way to get exalted with Stormwind without spending hundreds of gold (or days of farming) on runecloth?

I didn’t want to wait level 58, so I had a warlock friend summon me to Hellfire when I was 56 (almost 57). Holy COW that last level went fast. I got to 58 in no time just killing boars and vultures around Honor Hold.

Alterac Valley turn-ins is one way. I’m going for the Ambassador achievement myself, and thus far I’ve been concentrating on doing all the low-level quests.

My GF is Exalted with Stormwind and I’m close to it. We’re draenei and she hates the elekks, so around level 45 or so we started doing the low-level Stormwind quests so she could get a horse. We were already Revered when we started (I’m not entirely sure how, but we went Duskwood>Hillsbrad>Alterac>Arathi from 20 to 40+), and it took us Elwynn, Westfall, Deadmines, Stockades, and a couple of quests in Redridge to go from the start of Revered to Exalted. She only had to turn in the wool cloth, nothing higher.
I was totally surprised she came so close to beating an Elite that was 2 levels higher than her, especially considering that, when she was lvl 26 she still had a really hard time getting past that lvl 19 Elite ogre in Deadmines.
There are different types of elites. But I’m not 100% on the order. If the dragon on the portrait is silver with no wing, they are pretty weak. (still better than avg mob), then if there’s a wing added to the graphic, they are better. If the dragon is gold it’s even stronger, but I forget if there are golds-with the extra wing.

Silver, no-wing is “rare”. Same strength as a normal mob at that level but only spawns once every so often. Usually drop green or blue loot every kill.
Gold (winged) is “elite”. Extra strong for the stated level.
Silver, winged is “rare-elite” usually a rare-spawn boss in a dungeon but I think there are some in the overworld. An elite with special loot.

That’s odd. I took my night elf through all the quests in the starting area, darkshore, lakeshire, etc. and ground my way up to exalted relatively quickly. I’d double check areas like Lakeshire, Darkshore, and Theramore. Make sure you’ve also done your cloth donations up to runecloth.
Ambassador Soopknertzi, Echo Isles.

It was within the last year, probably more like the last few months, where they boosted the hell out of the rep points you get from low level quests. Unfortunately, it wasn’t retroactive.

That’s probably it, then. I did those quests almost three years ago. I wasn’t sure if Darkshire gave Stormwind rep. If they do, I’m almost sure I skipped some quests back there.
Revisiting my foray into Gnomeregan, it occurred to me afterward that I don’t think I saw a single female leper gnome. I guess the assumption is that when things started going to hell down there they got the women and children out first and the men remained behind long enough to become tainted? I almost felt bad killing the leper gnomes, especially when they started saying things like, “The sickness has dimmed my vision, but I know you must be a trogg!” The poor little guys just think they’re defending their home from monsters
Of course, I still think the ones topside who say, “I’ll cut you!” are pretty funny
I guess the ones topside are the ones who have actually descended into madness, while the ones still inside are just sick and delusional. What I didn’t quite get were the ones just inside who keep saying, “Aaaaaaah! So close to escaping!” I’m not sure if they’re bemoaning their fate or if it’s a battle cry they shout as they try to kill the Gnomeregan Escapees who keep running past.
Speaking of women and children, where are all the children in the game? There are human children all over SW, and I finally spotted a couple orc children in Org when I stumbled upon the orphanage there, and a pair of blood elf children in the belf starting area, but other than that … nothing. I think some little tauren calfs would be cute
Perhaps there are gnome children in there someplace, but they’re just too small to see.
I do think it’s cool that TBC seems to have introduced some non-standard-sized NPCs, at least among the draenei. There’s a female draenei vendor on Bloodmyst Isle named “Little” somethingorother, and she’s definitely smaller than my female draenei toon. I also spotted two male draenei guards walking side-by-side, and one was clearly smaller than the other. Hmm. Now that I think about it I guess there are some smaller humans, too, but only the “peasant” lumberjacks and miners.
Is there a Cloth Quartermaster in SW? I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen one.

If you’re coming in the front gates, go to the middle of the trade district and turn left. Turn right. Then turn left to go out of the trade district and over the bridge. Go into the mage district and turn left again. The first tailor shop you come to (which will be the first shop on your right), go in and upstairs. The cloth quartermaster for Stormwind is right there.

:smack: Right upstairs from my tailoring trainer …
