Nothing like this has ever happened before. Only thing similar was the planned Algerian hijack and crash in Paris of an Air France plane in 1994. The French forces stormed the plane and shot the terrorists while the plane was on the tarmac.

The Pentagon is monitoring another possible hijacked plane.
Sources fear it could be headed toward the Pentagon, which has already been attacked this morning after a small plane slammed into it.
a f-16 is flying to the west of the pentagon to intercept.
a 747 crashed in pennsylvania at 10-40 eastern time.
the tragedy started when two planes crashed into the world trade centre in new york city just before and after 9 o’clock eastern time. one hour later the top half of the south tower of the world trade centre collapsed. at 10-30 eastern the top half of the north tower collapsed. 50-thousand people worked in the world trade centre.
at 9:45 eastern time this morning fire broke out on the west side of the pentagon. witnesses say a u-s military helicopter circled the pentagon – then crashed into the army side of the building. part of the building has collapsed.
there is also a fire at the state department. – and a car bomb exploded outside at 10-30 eastern time.
the white house-- the capitol-- the treasury-- the pentagon were all evacuated by 10 a-m eastern time.

the first passenger plane flew directly into the north side of the 110-storey building at 8:45 eastern time. the plane is completely embedded in the building-- and very little of it has fallen to the ground. amazingly-- less than 20 minutes later-- a *second * passenger plane – which witnesses say is a d-c 3 with no markings–flew into the other tower --about 20 floors below the first crash site.
cnn says one plane was an american boeing 767 from boston.
the fbi is investigating reports of a plane hijacking that happened before the crashes.
u-s president george bush has talked to vice president cheney and the governor of new york. he will convene a national security council meeting as soon as he gets back to washington d-c. bush has ordered government agencies to investigate these apparent terrorist attacks.
cheney was assigned earlier this year to create plans to deal with domestic terrorism of exactly this kind.
all airports near new york have been closed.
there are two approaches to airports in the area that come within about two kilometres of the world trade center. the weather in new york is clear-- and it would be impossible to accidently fly into the trade centre.
there is still no word on injuries or fatalities in the disasters. people have been able to get out of the buildings.
thousands of pieces of what appeared to be office paper are drifting over brooklyn-- about five kilometres from the trade centre.
the towers were attacked by bombers on february 26 1993. that attack killed six people and injured more than one-thousand.
the new york stock exchange indefinitely suspended trading.
