Anyone else out there addicted to this game? I’ve been playing Worms! Armaggedon for a few weeks now. It’s gotten to the point where I hear those tiny Worm voices (what was that? stupid!) in my head when I’m not playing.
Anyone have the other games in this series? How do they compare with Armaggedon?
Hmm. I’d never heard of Liero until I did a search after reading your post. Looks like a real-time version. Worms is turn-based. I think I prefer the turn-based approach, but I’ll have to check out Liero…
Worms is the oddest game ever. I think that’s why it’s so great. My friends and I could play 5 hours straight. I have The Matrix Team with Neo, Tank, Trinity, ect. and the Hot Girls thread with Wynonna Ryder and Christinna Ricci and Thora Birch. Deadly killer that Wynonna I tell you.
Armageddon is FUN!!! I play that game a lot. My team is just a bunch of random names…for some reason, “Dammit” always seems to be the first to die, whether it is by dynamite or an old woman.
My favorite is the banana bomb…heheheee…especially with low gravity on.
I’ve had Armageddon for the N64 since July and I don’t think I’ve taken the cartridge out yet. Unfortunatly, I got so good at it my friends won’t play me anymore.
And, yes. When I catch myself doing something stupid I hear that goofy little “What was that!?” in my heat too.
So I tried out Liero, and man, it’s got nothing on Worms.
The oldest version of this type of round-robin combat game I’ve ever seen was something called “Scorch” which I think is still floating around out there somewhere.
One nice weapon that Scorch had was something called a “roller”, which you pitched at a hillside and then it would roll down toward the valley and blow up the first thing it hit.
Other than that weapon, Worms seems to contain analogues for all the Scorch weapons, and then some. I have a real hard time with most of the “Super Weapons”. I’m currently trying to get better with the Super Sheep. On the other hand I can cause mass carnage pretty effectively with the simple shotgun (I love setting off chain reactions into mines and blowing up them napalm cannisters. It’s also refreshing to blow up crates that are inaccessible to my worms before the enemy gets 'em).
carnivorousplant, I bought mine from Amazon. And not only are there exploding sheep (some of which rain from the heavens), there are exploding old women, bananas, moles, and of course - the Holy Hand Grenade (which I have yet to use…).
So, does anyone have more than one game in this series? I’m interested in opinions. I’ve heard some think that the previous releases are better than Armaggedon, and I’d like to know why they think that.
