Interesting idea in theory. One big problem is that we wouldn’t be going back to QEII, we’d be going back to Boris Johnson.

Shouldn’t it be the other way around? What if we were able to add five more states; England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Ireland, and Scotland? We’d be much closer to other European countries and now we’ll be able to buy timeshares in these new states. What could go wrong?

Our own Boris, the messy blonde haired maverick, is busy leading the UK in a heroic charge in our own path towards self destruction.
At the end of this year we will fall headlong over an economic cliff face in pursuit of freedom from all rules imposed by all those pesky EU types with their Federalist leanings.
He intends to take away the pain of his farcical handling of the Covid crisis by shooting the economy in the foot by tearing up all trade agreements with the EU. He got the idea for the madman approach to negotiation from somewhere, maybe he was inspired by ‘The Art of the Deal’.
Boris has assured us that the rest of the world is quite excited about this and will be beating path to our door to sign new trade deals.
So, if any trans-Atlantic cousins would soon like to buy a slightly used set of crown jewels…
Much as I feel for the troubles the US has had with its politics over the past few years, I don’t think the UK has fared much better.
Okay, okay. Can the Queen can just personally adopt us as her foster children instead? I hear y’all have a pretty nice palace or two. Otherwise, who’s left? The Scandinavians probably wouldn’t want either of us. Maybe Canada, as above? Or Free Scotland? Or North Korea? Surely someone out there still respects and wants us. Right?

We figure we can get the US to pay for it by making a big deal about our socialized health care and commie-style social services. Pelosi? The 2nd or 3rd most powerful person in America. Harris? AOC? Omar? Tlaib? “The Squad”.
I mean you have to be living under a rock to not hear those names on a regular basis.
The GOP leadership is almost entirely old white men, sure.
Switzerland is mostly rock. 
In English news? Certainly. In other languages? Not as much.
My hairdresser speaks very few words in English. That means her only access to the news is from Swiss or German news articles. Since the beginning of the year, the news is 80% Coronavirus (slight exaggeration), which leaves very little time for international news.
If she were more interested in politics, or the U.S., she might know more. But the 10 minute news only includes a minute for the top names in the presidential election, which are all old white men, including Saunders. And it seems that the news she watches is pro-Trump.
Based on 4 years ago, I will soon want to go into hiding. For many of the people I know, I am the only American they know, so they will be asking me what I think. Fortunately I’ll be mostly working from home then.

My location is in my profile, but I know most people don’t look at those. 
There are certainly articles about Harris. In Switzerland is not a big deal that a woman could be elected to a higher position. The current (mostly ceremonial) president of Switzerland is a woman.
My main point, is that for someone who is not so interested in American politics, Trump/Biden/Saunders are the main names. Even most of the articles that did mention Pelosi were about the impeachment of Trump.
There is no candidate from either party named Saunders FWIW.
