I have some animation software, and I figure I can make a cartoon of the style of South Park - to look like cutouts.
It would render fast on my machine that way (the key bottleneck, it turns out).
But if I went to all that trouble, say for a 2 minute cartoon even, is there any way at all I can get a TV producer/flunky to look at it? Do too many people have the same idea? Where should I start?
South Part started out similarly – they made a short subject and started showing it to the right people. Eventually, someone at Comedy Central saw it and ordered a series.
Others have recently jumped into Hollywood by making short subjects for the Internet – the creators of “409” and “George Lucas In Love,” for instance.
So your best bet is to make the film, try to get in onto one of the internet film sites like ifilm, and see if anything happens. Of course, it’s still a major long shot, but it’s possible.
