Would someone care to explain the "Springer Cam?"

I am by no means a regular, semi-regular or even occasional watcher of the the Jerry Springer Show, but I happened to flip it on as I was surfing a week or so ago and they had something called “The Springer Cam,” which apparently came down to this: The Springer Show actually gave/loaned/rented tv cameras to the hillbilly/hick/redneck/psycho/freak of the day and let them have at.

But what I saw looked SO fake. It had to be scripted, and horribly at that.

So, any Dopers out there care to fill me in?

I have seen the segments you’re talking about and they are as fake as the rest.

Seriously what kind of outrageous things would you say and do on television for a few thousand dollars?
