Would you care if Bush died?

And this sort of vitriol and hatred is why, if the hard left gets control of the Democratic party, they’ll never win again.

Why ? It’s done wonders for the Right. Not to mention that I don’t see any hard left sentiments here; Bush is hated by most of the world, not just the hard left.

When I see someone saying “I wish that so-and-so would die”, “I really hope that he gets impeached” (when that clearly isn’t going to happen, at least for this term), or “He’s gonna snap publicly any day now, I can tell”, I don’t expect thoughtful political analysis from them. If these sort of sentiments take over the Democratic party, what remains of their credibility will go down the tubes.

And if you really think that the majority of Americans (the only people that can vote and therefore count) think the way that the SDMB does, you really need to get out of your bubble.

You goddamn fool. Yes, I would care if a US President died, stupid asshole, whether it is Clinton or Bush or Lincoln or Roosevelt. Die in a fire.

You’re right there, Athelas. The majority of Americans don’t think like Dopers do because Dopers, whether pro- or anti-Bush, actually think, whereas the majority of Americans simply don’t and are happy to swill in their ignorance.

As to the OP, unfortunately, no, I wouldn’t want Bush to die of natural or unnatural causes. The martyrdom of that maniac, which would inevitably result IMO, would possibly enbolden the neocons to attempt to discard the last vestiges of their pretenses to democracy. . . plus the real president would probably be none too happy to lose his ability to preside behind the scenes.

I, however, DO hope that fool Bush gets impeached, and no, I don’t believe it’s at all clear it won’t happen. Perhaps you have a crystal ball. As far as Bush snapping? Oh man, that would be so sweet I’d probably have to call in sick that day from the dehydration that would result from my uncontrollable dancing, laughing, and hyperventilation, but no, sadly, I don’t think he’ll snap :frowning:

Don’t wish death on other posters, Operation Ripper.

General note to all: the rule against wishing death only applies to other posters. While we always appreciate people reporting anything they think might need a look by the mods, you don’t need to report wishes of death against celebrities, politicians or anyone else not a known member of this message board.

Yeah. I gotta say I’m with Operation Ripper on this one, and I usually disagree with anything he has to say.

His death would be a sad thing. However, if he were assassinated, that would be a total disaster. In either case, I would be very sad. He’s been a good President. There are things he could and should have done better, but all in all, he’s done a good job.

I’m not aware of a single thing he’s done that isn’t a disaster.

Hahahaha, that is a joke, right?
If you are serious, well, just keep on dreaming, bud.

And if it starts raining money and all children sing happy songs with the birds tweeting in the trees.
Fountains will spew lemonade and chocolate milk.

Well, Bush’ foreign policy is virtually non-existant.
Remember the Kyoto conference?
Remember : if you are not with us, you are against us?
Remember : the Geneva convention is too vague so we don’t need to adhere to it?
Remember : if US soldiers get taken to task for war-crimes, we want to reserve the right to free them by any means necessary?

Bush’ foreign policy will be remembered for his isolationist view of “We are the US, we do what we like, fuck the rest of the world”.
(At least that is how he will be remembered by the rest of the world.

You have got to be fucking kidding, right?
Name one thing he did that can even be remotely considered “a good job”.

And be featured on News of the World covers for the rest of eternity.

I’m still out on whether or not this would be a good thing.

No. There is no inherent penalty to violating any of the Constitution’s requirements; such penalties must be established by statute. Illegal = in violation of a criminal statute. That’s why we have a separate word for “in violation of the requirements of the Constitution.”

Jenna’s cute.

He’s managed not to barf on any foreign leaders yet.

To answer the OP:
I will crack a big smile. I might even do the happy dance.

I think her sister Barbara is cute. Jenna, not so much, IMHO.

He’s managed to clear a whole lot of brush without whacking off his or anyone else’s limbs with a chainsaw.

Also, he’s been incredibly effective at pulling the wool over many, many people’s eyes, as evidenced by various individuals in this very thread.

That may be dishonorable, but it can’t be argued that he isn’t very good at it.
