Would you ever go to a Dope Fest
Well, I am clueless to where you live
Melbourne, Australia. In terms of centrally located social gathering places, all we have are Pubs.

Restaurants? Museums? Parks? Someone’s house? Faires?

Can’t offer you any help on that one. I suspect there is no more than a few dozen Australian dopers total. Probably cuts down on the DopeFest options a lot.

You’ve got the bush, haven’t you? - plenty of space and free tucker (grubs, nuts …)

**Hal’s ** wife was a doper,

Dopers can be such sheep.

Of course the “Help me with my RPG” could be looking for game tips, game programmer coding tips, running a D&D style game or RPG is a IBM business Language, that I happen to be an expert in. So, far I think I have answered two questions on it. So, I still don’t know what forum that subject would go in, without looking at the OP itself.
Help me with my RPG could also land you in GQ if it was for assistance with your newfound rocket propelled grenade launcher.

<Sigh>

I want one…
Restaurants?
Maybe. Though they’re just as unappealing as Pubs for me, as I don’t eat like normal people.
Museums?
I can’t imagine using a Museum as a meeting place for chat.
Parks?
Possible.
Someone’s house?
Unlikely that anyone would either suggest, or feel comfortable going to, a stranger’s home.
Faires?
A who in the what, now?

Of course! We’ll just hitch a ride on a kangaroo, and then have a “barbie” and a can of Fosters, next to the crocodile infested rivers!

Like I said, people do. It’s odd to me too. And I went to a stranger’s home. A MALE stranger too.

Fairs. I was thinking “Renaissance Faire” so I spelled it the other way. But you know, state fairs, town fairs, country fairs.

Oh, come on. Aren’t all Australians great horseback riders, with hats and square jaws? The Loaded Dog tells me otherwise, actually, and he would know. Though I know you guys eat meat pie floaters and tell people about drop bears.

Now you’re just making excuses. Dopefests happen because people want them to.

I suspected as much. Sounds like a great place for a Dopefest.

Just make sure you invite Bruce and Sheila.
Damn, I’m sorry. I don’t actually live IN Seattle. I’m about 35 miles southeast of it. I must have had something going on, or I would have surely tried to meet up with you.
We’ll have to catch you on our next trip south. (Well, south and west. Our next trip south is going east.)

I suspect trying to convince GuanoLad to go to a 'fest is beating a dead horse. Some people just aren’t in to meeting new people socially, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Me, I like it just fine.

I know, and they have happened. But thus far, only in Pubs. Which I hate. Which is why I don’t go.

Not the one I went to. It was in a Giordano’s Pizza restaurant. Granted, it moved to a bar later, but like mentioned earlier, that was only because the restaurant was closing, it was past 11 pm, and we couldn’t think of any other place several adults could sit around and chat at midnight on a Friday. By the time we went to the bar, we were 4+ hours into the get-together and some people had already left. It was just a bunch of people that were hanging out together at a restaurant.

Trust me, I’m with you - I don’t drink, I don’t care for bars, but it was fun. But if you don’t want to, don’t go, it’s all good. There’s no reason to do something you don’t think you’ll enjoy.
