Given the current political climate, would you book air travel across the country on November 3?
- Yes
- No
- Maybe
I’m flying from Boston to LA for five days after I vote. I hope the country doesn’t go sideways while I’m out of town.

I don’t see a connection. Would it be any different if the country went sideways while you were at home? I generally don’t fly at all but election day plays no part in that.
Yes. If Orange Foolius declares martial law or something similar, air travel could be impacted.
Well… ok. Maybe you should cancel your trip and start stocking up on firearms.
Thanks for your input.
If anything happens as a result of the election, it probably won’t be Election Day itself but a day or two later, as the results come in and it’s clear just how badly the GOP does. So, no, I would not be worried about flying on Election Day itself.
How about five days later? Gotta fly home.
I think by five days later, it will be clear if flying is safe or you should hunker down wherever you are.
I did buy flight insurance.
Maybe also buy a few months worth of supplies, just in case. And check if flight insurance covers martial law declarations or emotional distress by the POTUS.
Or a day or two before, to try to prevent the elections from happening at all.
I’m not sure my carry-on has room for that.
It might if you leave your clothes behind.
Decisions, decisions…
Just wear the survival supplies instead of clothes.
Some of our insurance policies at work have exclusions for things like that.
Sorry, didn’t reply earlier because I was travelling. But…
Yeah, I am travelling Colorado to Texas (Oct 30), returning to Colorado November 3rd.
Sure, there may be disruptions, but I doubt many of them, or much effecitve resistance in Texas, sadly.
Colorado seems as prepared as possible for such as well. So, the risk is barely elevated IMHO, and I refuse to live a captive to the “what if?” to the point I make myself a (well-armed) hermit.
St Martin is nice. Might rain a little this time of year.
Sure, if I didn’t have to work that day. I don’t really see why it would be even remotely likely to be an issue.
I can’t imagine any significant effect, if anything Election Day may be the best time to fly, less crowds.
