To reassure everyone who got low ratings, I found a picture of Britney Spears on that site last night, and her average rating was a 6.7; clearly, most of the raters are mentally deficient.
Maybe it is jealousy, but maybe it is also a gentle poke at vanity. To some, the very idea of posting a picture at a site called “Am I HOT or am I NOT” implies a certain vanity and an emphasis on physical appearance rather than the more important qualities of the human spirit.
Although she was NOT addressing the question of Dopers giving 1s and I do NOT wish to imply that she rated anyone (much less gave anyone a 1), early in this thread, FairyChatMom said:

Each vote on Postyourfacehere, I found out, registers .01, so their voting system is set low. A 5.1 could actually be an 8 under a regular system. Plus, they average it out over all of the votes given 1 person.
Unless you remove the cookies from your TEMP files, if you try to go back and increase your vote on a person by voting again, it will not register in the total. (I tried it, just to see if it could be done.)

Well, that’d be true for women. But for some reason guys seem to get an exponentially declining curve from 0-10.
I have to say I really loved Satan’s new pic. Rates a 10 in my opinion.
Ok, here goes nothing…please be kind, this pic is almost exactly three years old (it was taken on halloween day 1997). Its the only one i have though. BTW there are alot of beautiful doper girls!

FWIW, I decided to head back to this site just to see what was new (hadn’t checked it out since it was first linked to SDMB). I repeat what I said before: the “graders” here are f*cked-up idiots. Vindictive group of bastards. Every single average score was considerably lower than mine, some by four or more points. Now, I’m either easy or people out there are mean-spirited, arrogant jerks. I dunno.
To the female dopers who posted their pix here (sorry, but I’m really in no position to grade the male dopers here), there wasn’t a single unattractive picture…I hope that, despite the crap that may have been flung your way, you can comfortably assume that you’re a much better-looking woman than these cretins would have you believe.

Well, the only reason I posted it there was because I didn’t care how I was rated - a couple of years ago when I still had major self-esteem issues about the way I look, I never would have done it.
I really don’t know why I did this either. The only way it made me feel was that I’m apparently a lot less attractive to women, sexually or otherwise, than I originally thought I was. And that was pretty low to begin with.

Eh, I don’t want to post my photo. My parents and Ray say I’m beautiful and that’s all that matters (but if anyone cares, there are pictures on my stupid webpage).
Yeah, I didn’t want to post my pic either. I feel pretty good about myself, I get “checked out” by nice looking guys regularly, which helps if I need an ego boost, and my pic is on the SD People Pages, if anyone cares. Compliments can be sent directly to me, and negative comments can sent directly to hell.
I’m rather amused by the whole thing. I went back and checked up on my picture . . . apparently I’ve avearaged a 2.7, which is just amusing. I can’t imagine this site being an overly good idea for anyone. I’m completely over whatever effect this was having on me before, as I know better than to believe it. I still think it’s an interesting experiement, if fatally flawed.
