Would you recommend a good, cheap wireless router?

I’m in no rush. My router is working pretty well, but it is 10 years old and I am starting to wonder if I should get a new one.

My current one is this bad boy, a Zyxel I got it for $20 in 2005.

The only things I’m interested in are:

  • one with better range. The Zyxel does quite well, but it doesn’t quite reach to some corners of the floor it is one. It does not penetrate through to the basement almost at all.

  • higher speed? I can download files at 2.0 mb/s with this one. Is that normal or am I too slow? I stream Netflix to multiple devices though it and it comes through HD. Maybe it’s as fast as a new one.

  • **price **- Since mine is not broken, I don’t want to spend a lot of money.

Any advice? I appreciate it.

Unbelievable.

My Zyxel router has broken. I can’t believe I posted 2 days ago about “no rush” and kind of wanting a new router and now the stupid thing I own has broken.

Help a guy out? I really need to buy a new one in the next week or so. I’m willing to go up to $50 or so. Is that too cheap? My good old $20 Zyxel lasted 10 years.

Anyone know a good reasonably priced router?

After two weeks of service, I’m very happy with this $30 bargain.

We’ve had no issues with our Belkin and we’ve had it for ages.

Hopefully mine won’t break as soon as I post this.

I know. I love amazing coincidences. I literally was casually thinking about a new router and the current one dies.

I think it heard me.

Thanks, I ordered it and got the free shipping.

My Zyxel has sprung back to life for the moment, but I feel like it is a servant on life support and I’m trying to drag out the final bit of work out of him before I shoot him in the backyard.
