Wow, I'm a carrot-top!

My hair is long enough now that it needs double the amount of colorant. Today, I went to a beauty supply store instead of a drugstore, because that was convenient and the drugstore wasn’t. Looked over the vials of colorant, and grabbed two called “Copper Fury”, because the swatch was really vibrant. That, plus the creme to mix it with, cost half of what two coloring kits would have cost at the drugstore.

So far, so good. Well, my hair was “dirty” enough (it should never be freshly washed; guess it needs some natural oil in it), so I mixed up the goop (the creme was enough for two applications. so I didn’t have to measure anything), and there was enough to get it everywhere: ends, underneath, and thorough attention to the roots and temples. Waited the requisite thirty minutes, rinsed and conditioned, and now it’s dry.

And it’s orange. I mean, not punk orange, but genuine carrot-top. “Anne of Green Gables!” said Mr. Rilch when he saw. Normally, I prefer the more sophisticated deep auburn, but this is interesting, and different! And best of all, it’s consistent all the way through, up, down and around; no dull spots. Can’t wait to see how it looks in the sunlight. And if my co-workers don’t notice, I will so be pouting!

Welcome to the club!

I might as well beat the rush and ask…

Cite?

Yay! I just thought I was brave, using the frost and tip kit and becoming a blond! I keep telling my 11 y o daughter that I’m going to die my hair red to match hers…for some reason she is so against it.

My mom used to say that all the time too and it always ticked me (natural redhead) off. I felt like I had gone through so much crap for my hair (mondo, mondo teasing in elementary school, albino skin, etc.) that I earned it and I resented dyed redheads. Plus, I knew she wanted people to go “oh, she must get her hair color from you” which so totally wasn’t true.

I thought you were going to say your hair turned green, 'cuz that’s the color of a top of a carrot. :stuck_out_tongue:

[sub]That was for my mom, a redhead all her life, that was her stock response to being called a “carrot top”.[/sub]
