You know something, Johnny? You’re entitled to have that opinion, and to express it. And others are entitled to refute it. And by common consent, how the assertion and the refutation(s) get judged by the community at large is not on the content of their theme but on how well it’s documented and proven.
Having seen a selection of other boards where “unbiased moderation” means “I will permit you to politely tell him he’s wrong when he flames you, if you’re courteous about it,” I can tell you that the moderation style here is head and shoulders above the Internet average, and near to the Internet optimax.
I thought his post a bit wordy but he did get his point across, even if not succinctly. Still, though, I agree with your sentiment; we are indeed lucky to have such a mod. We are also lucky to have lucid posters like yourself; too often we suck up only to the mods and I, for one, feel that we should occasionally suck up, as it were, to each other. Or, at the very least, to recognize and honor each other’s sucking up. As it were.
C’mon! The guy even bothered to capitalize “Mod” - four times, no less! With such loving attention to detail, is it no wonder that the SDMB is the best-moderated board on the Net?
Hey, if you want an unmoderated message board, there are plenty of 'em. Enjoy.
Not to say we’re perfect by any means - we’re human, and, like most of the SDMB, occasionally sarcastic, snide, or unpleasant (particularly to those who are the same). But, there are certain members of these forums who expect us to be somehow infallible and perfect, and who criticize us publicly and often when we inevitably fail to meet their expectations. shrug What can you do, eh?
Hey, this board would be nothing without its hive-minded defenders! If it wasn’t for the hive mind of this place, we would see a vast diversity of opinion, and no one wants that. And I’m certain that everyone else here agrees with me.
I can’t make hide nor hair of the OP. Sounds like he doesn’t like this MB, though, so I suggest he not re-up next year and find one more to his liking. Oh, and don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.
