LOL yes and also… the republic is protected from tyranny as if anyone were to abuse the written or unwritten rules that protect it, and try and set themselves up as a tyrant, the God Jupiter would be offended and smite them.
Bolding mine.
I’m surprised everyone let this pass. Biden is as corrupt as Menendez? Based on what evidence?
(And yes, we know Hunter had a laptop. I asked for evidence.)
I read 2/3 of his book. I found most of his anecdotes to be obviously made up.
He’s 100% being a troll. He’s acting like a snotty kid mouthing off to his parents. I’m being completely serious.
I wish to address to your attention a recent opinion piece published in the pages of a widely- circulated American newspaper. Based on my review of public charging documents that the Department of Justice has filed in courts of law, I suspect that one or both of you might characterize this article as an invitation to “insurrection,” a manifestation of criminal “conspiracy,” or an attempt to bring about civil war.
He’s angry that anyone is being prosecuted over the January 6 insurrection attempt, and sent this as a sarcastic, snide attack on the DOJ. He’s trying very hard to look like a hero to the MAGA crowd.
In case anyone thinks that what he sent was in any way sincere…
Vance asked to be notified by Jan. 6, 2024, if the DOJ would be looking into the matter.
Grow up, even Ohio deserves better than you.
I’m not walking into that buzz saw again. It’s also a hijack here. Let’s agree to disagree on the corruptness of Joe Biden.
Fair enough.
I don’t think any Republican is serious; I do, however, think that they all are dangerous. Pandering to a mob of violent fascists to score political points is dangerous, even if the panderer is just trolling.
I don’t agree. Some Republicans are actually doing bad things like pushing for an impeachment of Biden or playing chicken with the budget. Vance is doing the equivalent of calling the DOJ and asking if their refrigerator is running, or if they have Prince Albert in a can.
I do agree that it’s still dangerous though. Appealing to and defending people who literally attacked the capitol and tried to stop and subvert democracy is a nasty thing even when it’s effectively a prank.
But @Sam_Stone reminded me of what this thread is about (Kelsey Grammar) so I think we’re probably best discussing this in another thread, like the January 6 thread.
It’s almost as if he highjacked the discussion, got owned and then tried to change the subject back to Kelsey Grammer.
She got fired because her employer told her to stop posting divisive political stuff that was overshadowing the project she was working on, and she ignored them.
Note that around the same time they told Pedro Pascal the same thing, for posting liberal hot takes on Twitter, and he listened, and got to keep his job.
I did not know that. Thanks.
They wanted to be able to do whatever they wanted to do without consequence and fuck everybody else. That strain of malign self-centeredness used to have a natural home in Libertarian ideology (or at least one form of it); now it lies at the heart of Trumpism. It’s much the same way the Dixiecrats got drawn into the GOP in the 1970s.
It’s not the “authoritarianism” they like; its the impunity that comes with it.
No, Trump would never actually move his own foot. He’d just tell other people to stomp on his enemies and then whine about it. Trump has never done anything more than talk.
Trump’s laziness is the biggest thing that’s held him back. People like Lenin and Hitler and Putin were willing to actually work on seizing power. Trump just wants other people to do the work and then hand him the power.
If Trump’s base ever deserts him, that’ll be the cause. His followers will realize they’re the soldiers dying in battle while General Trump sits in his comfy chair safe in headquarters far away from the frontline.
