WOW on South Park - 10/4

There are items with 40+ stamina in game now. They also said it’s 120dps and has a mana burn on hit. I could see something like that maaaybe in The Burning Crusade, and there’ll be better stuff in the expansions after that for sure.

Is there anything that’s too geeky for the dope? Did you notice that Stan’s dad had a human hunter that had a shield equipped? Also, Kyle said he’s an arcane/fire mage so he wouldn’t have the talents to reduce the casting time on pyroblast, I’m not a mage, but if there are those talents, wouldn’t they be accesible with 20 talent points in the fire tree? That’s probably enough nitpicking for today.

Overall I thought it was week, and for a while I was a pretty hardcore player, and probably will be again once I get my gaming rig fixed. It was no “Scott Tennorman Must Die” that’s for sure.

The game’s developer

They sort of got it right. The things they make reference to are real spells and techniques and stuff, but they included some stuff that made no sense, like using taunts on a human opponent.

I’ve never played a game in my life, so I didn’t get some of it. At first I thought it might turn out to be a metaphor for the war on terror but no.
I don’t see why they had to get so fat whilst continually playing.

Because they were doing nothing except playing & eating (and defecating when Mom came in with the bedpan  )- no washing, no physical exertion, nothing.

I didn’t know Kyle has red hair.

I never play computer games & I know I had to have missed some references, but I thought this was fantastic.

What’s the Arena in Stranglethorn, a pimple?

There are times I absolutely miss the chance to do… more available same-team killing, though. Like every time some Elune-damned druid rolls on MY thrice-cursed Defias armor… and the son of a poxed troll with ingrown tusks wins it… I am a thief and that’s MINE MINE MINE

Totally awesome. major pwnge

A couple of seasons ago, he had to take off his hat for a school photo, and revealed a humungous red Isro.

The bedpan had Mr. Rilch guffawing so loud I missed what Cartman’s mom said and had to play it back.

Also I love how there’s one black player. Duh, you think it was Token? And Craig, or whatever that guy’s name is, not participating because he’s reading Playboy. I totally knew there would be some reference to porn trumping MMORPGs for one character, although I’m mildly surprised they didn’t show him on a porn site. (I’m sure they could have avoided making it explicit.)

I didn’t get the in jokes, but I loved the depction of the player who was killing everyone- fat, greasy, pimply- too funny!

There is a talent in the Arcane tree that makes one spell instant-cast that you can use every, uh, three minutes? And Pyroblast is a base 6-second cast time anyways, not 8.

AND THERE IS NO ELVEN FOREST IN WESTFALL! Hell, there isn’t any forest in Westfall. Not to mention there’s no reason to meet up in Westfall if they’re heading to the Arathi Highlands.

I’m done. For now.

I think the best joke though had to be “How do you kill someone with no life?” But the mix of things which are right and those that make no sense to someone familiar with the game is rather annoying.

There was also the Ginger Kids episode last season, where Kyle was branded a “day-walker” because in spite of his red hair, he didn’t have to avoid the sun (that, by the way, was a great episode, too)
Okay I know RPG is role-playing game (I’m an old hand at GURPS) What does MMO stand for?

Massively Multi-player Online

shrug Color me underwhelmed, especially with so much going on in the news since the last new South Park. This episode required way too much inside knowledge, and I just tuned out while they were talking about all the character and game stuff.

I believe what he said was “We’ll meet in Elwynn Forest near Westfall”, which is fine, except that they met up in Westfall not Elwynn Forest. As for why they’d meet there before heading to the Arathi Highlands… I can’t help you there

I definitely liked that quote along with “This could mean the end of the World… of Warcraft.”

Considering that Blizzard had a huge amount of input on this episode (with all the CG and such), I think Matt and Trey deliberately got some of the spells wrong just to piss off the hardcore geeks. I found them funny because I knew there were geeks watching who were probably yelling at their TVs.

I also particularly liked how they made the game look as boring and pathetic as possible. 17 hours into the battle, and they’re all just meleeing eachother to death. They spent three months straight fighting boars getting 2xp at a shot just so they could level up to kill the guy just so they could play the game… which they downplayed to be about the same.

That ain’t Westfall, far too green for one thing. I’m saying Alterac Valley (which at least is close to Arathi)

I did love how much Cartman was micro-managing though, and the tone of his voice as he did it. He reminded me of the Onyxia raid leader at some points.

Close - it was Hillsbrad Foothills, just south of there. The two zones sort of intermingle, but it was (at least as I recall) western Hillsbrad Foothills. That part at least does make sense since it is the zone next to Arathi Highlands.

Or having sex.

Yeah, pretty much.

So the “ever” was not completely accurate. But in the context shown, outside of the arena (and the one in Dire Maul…), that sort of intra-faction killing can’t happen.

Anyone notice Kenny had an ancient beige box PC with a CRT monitor?

Not that there’s anything wrong with that, right? RIGHT?!

Blah, you’re right. That’s the zone I was thinking of, but I got the name mixed up with Alterac. I haven’t spent much time there since I finished levelling my druid (which was last winter).
