Write this story, one word at a time

The one sentence at a time thread reminds me of when I participated in something similar on another message board, but just one word at a time. It was lots of fun.

Note that this thread title doesn’t have an exclamation mark at the end, while the other one does. That’s probably the quickest way to distinguish between the two and remembering it will help prevent people clicking the wrong one.

I want to set a few ground rules, because for this to work there has to be a degree of cooperation. The might be revised at some point, and feel free to suggest some of your own.

  • It’ll be in third person past tense.
  • Try to keep the sentences coherent.
  • At each new page, it would be nice if someone copied the story up to that point into one post. You don’t have to, but it would be helpful.
  • In addition to a word, you can add punctuation before or after a word. Go ahead and open or close quotes or add other things. Don’t end sentences in places they wouldn’t reasonably end.
I also think it would be better to keep question marks and exclamation points inside of dialogue to keep the narrative itself from becoming too confusing.

I’m going to begin this with more than one word in order to get this off the ground. Here goes:

One day, Bob found a

"Holy

ejaculated.
