WTF? It's January 26, ferpitysake...

…Why the hell is Special K still airing a commercial playing Christmas music? The Season of Hell has been over for a month, people - get with the calendar.

Ummm it’s January 28, unless you know something I don’t…

<Looks at watch, takes off glasses, wipes them, replaces them, looks again>

Oopsie. :o

I agree. I saw a commercial the other day that had something vaguely Christmas related and I wondered if I’d fallen through a time warp. Perhaps their budgets only allow for one new spot a year and the focus group says it’s the holidays. So all the rest of the time is just damned.

Media buyer here…

Chances are that the stations airing the spot either ran the wrong copy (happens a LOT) or possibly the station is running some free bonus or make-up weight for the client and didn’t have new copy on hand so they’re just running the old one.

Message board spam I see (thankfully not here, we have the most alert mods in the business) has frequently touted their latest [del]product[/del] piece of crap as something you must buy “because Christmas is approaching”. Exactly the same wording from the same message board spam I saw on December 14. :dubious:

Is it actually Christmas music they’re playing, or just winter music? There’s no reason not to play “Jingle Bells”, “Sleigh Ride”, or “Winter Wonderland” in January.

Enzyte has been running the Smilin’ Bob “Santa” commercials year round.

If it’s the commercial I’m thinking about (woman gets chair stuck to her butt), it’s just an extension of Special K’s “eat SK to lose the Christmas weight” campaign. It is distracting to have the music playing at the start of it, though.

Good lord, my posts must indicate I do nothing but watch commercials.

And another thing. What’s up with all the tax ads? Don’t they know nobody pays attention to their taxes until April, and if you’re me, specifically April 14? And that’s only when I’m trying to get things in early. And anyone who is so all over their taxes that their envelope to the IRS is postmarked January 2 doesn’t care about your TurboTax ad.

The Washington DC Metro trains just got new posters about “getting ready for the Christmas Season” for something-or-other. These were not up last week.

Either they’re way ahead or way behind.

The guy in the office next to me still has his cellphone ringer set to “Feliz Navidad”. And he gets a lot of phone calls.

You have my permission to break his phone.

I’m wondering why all of the stores now have giant displays of Easter candy.

Because the will be an Easter this year.

Man, things are moving so fast here…we are getting our St. Patrick’s Day stuff out!!

Hey, I can go you one better. In our small town there is one local tax service. Every year, starting around the second week in January, they start having people stand out on the corner in either Statue of Liberty or Uncle Sam garb, holding up signs encouraging people to save $50 to file with them. It is surreal, especially because it’s so early.

A local gas station is still running their “holiday” commercial, involving their spokeswoman dressed in a Santa outfit standing in front of a Christmas tree and offering holiday specials. I was thinking it’s about time to retire that one, but then I saw that the specials expire Jan. 31, so hopefully we’ve only got a few more days of it. Then she’ll probably start dressing as the Easter bunny.

You don’t get Valentines ads, chocolates, cards and other and misc. crap in the stores starting December 26th like we do?
