Okay, this probably isn’t a safe thread for a mod – especially Mr. New Kid – but I’m going to gird my loins and make a few comments.
First, I fully and completely expect that if I ever got as snarky and obnoxious as Otto, that I’d be tossed out. Mods can be suspended, banned, or returned to regular user status. I feel that my “job” as a mod requires me to – well – not be a jerk.
No, it’s not just a three-year-old warning. In addition to his five (!) warnings in 2005, he also received varying numbers of warnings in 2003, 2006, 2007, and 2008. He has consistently violated the “don’t be a jerk” rule on the board. I find it very hard to believe that he wasn’t intentionally “poking the bear with a stick” when Ed announced a new rule and Otto immediately questioned him on it.
I honestly don’t know what I would have done if I had been in Ed’s shoes and Otto had “poked” me. I like to think I would have been a bit less terse, but I really couldn’t tell you whether that straw would have broken this camel’s back or not. Otto used up all of his slack a long time ago.
Seven hours from the OP to Ed’s official response, which pretty much said what you people were asking him to say. Seems pretty reasonable to me.
Recommendation: If you get a board timeout, open the thread in another tab or another window and check to see if your message got posted before clicking the “Submit” button again. And again. And again. And again. And again.

While I agree that attractiveness does not equal suitability to govern (but it does draw votes; how many have been swayed by Obama’s good looks?), I’d like to ask which politicians, especially worldwide, you find as attractive? Seems to me like Obama would be a good match on the male side, but female? None I’m aware of short of Yulia Tymoshenko and Carla Bruni, aka Madame Sarkozy. 
She’s not really a politician, is she? I mean, she’s just a typical First Lady without any apparent political aspirations of her own.

My point is that politicians are rarely what I call attractive. Palin is only attractive by this low competition. Her looks and Obama’s looks have nothing to do with my voting anyway.
