X-factor(USA) premiere

I agree with pretty much everything you said except the rapper kid in LA’s group was pretty good, even though I don’t care for the obnoxiously cocky personality.

I think they at least eliminated all the right people. Poor Dexter never should have made it that far.

Bumping this because my wife watches this show and I reluctantly follow along. I think it’s down to the final few shows, and well… I am not impressed.

The contestants are okay, but I think AI does a better job of getting talent. The finalists are okay. Both this Marcus guy and Chris guy are so-so voice wise. The grubby guy is a great singer, but he needs to sing retro songs. I like the Melanie girl’s voice.

Generally though, I thought Cowell would crush AI with a better format. Turns out AI knows what it’s doing. The judging on X Factor is dire. They hand out the most useless, smoke up the arse feedback imaginable. I’m even disappointed in Simon who typically gives good comments.

I’m with you. I started out liking this show, but I pretty much can’t even force myself to watch it anymore. Josh and Melanie have good voices and I may even buy some of their music if and when they release some, but the show seems to focus too much on the judges.

I think I started to actively hate this show after seeing Simon sitting on his bed asking his employee to bring him some sweet tea “Sweetheart”. It’s probably envy on my part, but the constant flaunting of wealth and privilege enjoyed by the four judges is what bugs me the most. It’s like it’s not really about the music anymore.

Eh, I’m probably just being cranky. But I’m no longer a fan at all.

I like Josh. He writes his own songs, but it seems they want to put him in the Joe Cocker retro songs and he’s great at them but it be nice to see a change up.

Amaro is predictable. Like Pia Toscano who can’t sell records.

I just can’t get over the horrific staging for many of the performances… it’s like, let’s throw as much money and flashy lighting and as many spastic dancers as will fit on the stage and see what happens. Even when the glitz and frenetic dancing is completely at odds with the song. It’s kind of… embarrassing?

And for folks complaining about the judging-- I completely agree, but did you see American Idol last season? It was exactly the same. After the auditions, it was nothing but “YOU’RE THE BEST SINGER EVER!” to everyone, all the time.
