I liked the twins and I hope they will be allowed to compete as a single act. The “Fever” girl had a nice voice but her performance was cheesey as all get-out. None of the guys really knocked me out. All in all this seems like a much staler batch of contestants that the last time around.
And the bad auditions were even worse than last year. I think it’s amazing that those people sincerely seem to think that they can sing. Do they have a different kind of hearing than the rest of us?
Yea, I liked most of the ones the judges picked. The one that REALLY stood out to me was the big, black, blonde lady. She was a GODDESS! The “Fever” girl should indeed lose the movements, but I LOVED how sultry she was. Unique indeed. I think the girls were generally better than the boys, but I liked the beatbox guy very much and the one who had an “Image” problem.
Of course, I just LOVED the actions of those who were judged rather harshly. Especially the one that FAILED to sing Enrique. Shheesh! Delusional…
Diogenes, I think it’s just difficult for some people to accept that they may not ever fullfil their dreams because of their own limitations. I guess some people would rather just continue to try rather than call them quits. Can’t say I blame them, but I don’t really sympathize when Simon rips them apart.
I agree, it would be a kick to see a big woman win, but Simon has a thing about looks. The amazing thing is that if it were up to Simon, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, Elton John and patti LaBelle would not have had a chance.
Does anyone know if there’s going to be an encore? I know they had the two Joe Millionaire’s play two days after the second one, so I’m hoping that they follow suit with AI…
I dunno. He didn’t seem to have a problem with her looks. He did with Tirell, but not her. I guess her strong voice was enough for him to just not worry about what she looks like. I thinked she looked beautiful myself because she was fearless.
The “Fever” girl has stage presence, but her voice isn’t nearly strong enough to win this competition. An R&B/pop oriented competition requires a strong, belted voice, not quiet and sultry. She can’t project, that I can see. She doesn’t fit, but it’ll be a good experience.
The black girl who brought the whole family, like 23 of them, is my early pick. She’s beautiful and she can frickin’ WAIL.
Funny, but so very manipulated. Everyone was either good enough to get through, or laughably bad. They must have weeded out all the actual middle ground before they even got to the real judges. I suppose they did the same thing last year, but I wasn’t paying attention then, dammit!
I’m not entirely sold on the Fever girl either. She sang the song so quiet and low, I couldn’t really even tell if she could sing. I kept waiting for her to belt something out, but it never happened.
Her singing:Big black girl’s singing :: Cute:Beautiful
Don’t get me wrong, I looove cute. I just don’t think cute’s gonna cut it here. Lola, he quit. Brian Dunkleman was his name.
Happy
My personal fave was the Mack Daddy from Kansas with the yellow pimp suit who friggin’ CRIED when all his dreams went up in smoke. AND he was looking for a way home to boot.
Wow, I saw so many wannabe actors, it’s not even funny. Does anybody really think Enrique there thinks he can sing? Of course not. He just knew what to do to get on tv and open up a door or two. Same goes with all of the other SUPER terrible people - they’re not that stupid. They just saw what got on the air last season.
I winced at that question. The Asian guy didn’t seem to get offended though, even though he had every right to.
smackFu, I think that the auditions are pretty much open to everybody. They just edit out all the boring, middle ground stuff because it’s not that interesting.
I thought the guy who sang “Just Once” had a great voice, even though Simon carped about his looks.
What was with that girl who sang the Quaalude version of “Unchained Melody?” The look of intense pain on the faces of the judges was priceless.
I wouldn’t agree with beautiful, but she definately had the best presence. She’s a pro. If she doesn’t end up famous after this I’d be suprised.
I wish they’d get some other types. They had on Sinatra (sp?) wannbe and that fever chick. The rest were the same R&B vocal-stylings crap. I almost cried when a Sarah McLachlan song got turned into a whoose R&B fiasco. No offense.
