I generally loathe the audition shows, because I prefer seeing people who actually have talent rather than delusional famewhores. That having been said, I am absurdly psyched about the upcoming season. I’ll be posting here, VFTW, and my LJ. It’ll take talent to post three running commentaries at once, but I think I’m up for the challenge.
Anyone else excited with me? Who do we think is going to win this year? I’m going to guess a teenaged to young adult white guy, potentially a rocker. I think they are going to try to follow the cash cow they found in Daughtry.
I love the audition shows because nothing warms the cockles of my heart more than laughing at people crazier than I am. I like the Hollywood middle because of the soap opera-ness of it and I love the real competition-- especially if there is a contestant I cannot stand. Or one that every one else cannot stand and I like. Because-- I dunno- it’s fun!
There is only one thing I do not like about AI. People who take it much too seriously. You all know who you are.
The Hollywood rounds are definitely my favorite. They make it seem so grueling, and I love the one group that has a total meltdown at 3 in the morning. There’s always one, and it’s usually full of total entitlement whores. I only wish they’d show more of that–last year’s Hollywood rounds were so short it was almost anti-climactic.
Ditto. My only complaint is that it takes such a huge bite out of my time! I’m going to start watching it, but I may have to stop if it keeps me from getting important stuff done.
I boldly predict the best singer in the competition will be booted around 5th place or so, and someone with no business even making it to Hollywood will come in around 7th.
I hate the audition shows, especially last year’s laugh-at-the-freak episodes.
Actually, Idol is starting to get on my nerves. In comparison to its production company stablemate So You Think You Can Dance, which does all the same things, but without humiliating anyone (during auditions) and providing coherent and constructive feedback (during the competition).
But I’m a sucker and I’ll watch religiously anyway.
I adore this show, because it’s so utterly and completely filled with delusion. That being said, I can handle just about any delusional famewhore wannabes during the audition rounds except that despicable freak who calls himself “Sex” and shows up with his mother. All together: Ewww!
Who wants to bet how many contestants Paula is going to lose it laughing at (on air) tonight, and how many times she fails to make any kind of comprehensible sense?
That’s a tough bet to take there, Mama. The nuances of Pauler losing it, jamming along, being lost in the moment and smiling encouragingly are often finer than flea floss. Randy and Simon are way easier to categorize with confidence.
At least Paula always manages to look chagrined after outright laughing at some poor fool.
