American Idol 1/27-29

Yep, three nights of auditions. That’s three nights of some decent singing, lots of caterwauling, several sob stories, judges fighting, and more.

They should be getting to the Hollywood showdown soon.

Thats when I quit watching. I like the people who are so wrong about their talent. There is a good singer down the street at any entertainment bar. I want to see the bad ones.

My workplace, in their never-ending quest for supreme suckitude, has me working nights and missing AI completely.

sob

I really enjoyed crazy Let’s Get It On guy. His voice was different, but good.

I think ‘Loving You’ needs to be removed from the audition choices. If the original is ear-splittingly annoying, there’s no way our deluded auditioners will ever pull it off.

Hated dog girl. Didn’t really warm up to multiple-older-siblings girl, but that might be due to her age- it’s rare that I like the younger ones.

Liked ‘Let’s Get It On’ guy’s voice, but not the mannerisms.

Hmph- nobody is standing out as AI material for me tonight. And I’m done with Cara.

HATED GUITAR GUY. Seriously, has begging EVER worked, in the years this show has been on???

I agree that “Loving You” should be permabanned. The original isn’t even good!

I liked TK (“Imagine”) the best, but I wish he would not have done that song in the style of Archuleta. I didn’t like that last year and I don’t like it now, but I think TK did a better job with an arrangement I hated.

I’m predicting Second Chance Girl makes the finals. She seemed to have the whole package.

Yeah. My reaction to Imagine Guy: “Ooh, he’s doing Imagine. Yay, he doesn’t suck! Ew, WTF did he do to the song?”

Yeah, I really liked Second Chance (Anne Marie). She’ll be one to watch for sure. Great voice, natural beauty, and a pleasant personality.

What was the deal with Anne Marie? She comes in looking just lovely, whips out a fine rendition of whatever that song was that Kara did in Nashville, and they start giving her grief about her “star persona.” WTF? What’s this “star persona” crap, and why does it matter? You’d think after all the no-talent losers they’re subjected to, they would have jumped on her like white on rice.

Can someone 'splain that to me?

I didn’t get why they did that either, unless it was just to force some drama. These audition shows are so heavily manipulated and edited that I don’t trust any of these “situations” that play out with some of the singers.

I think they knew she had potential.

Yes, I get that. It seemed glaringly obvious to me. What I don’t get is why they made her come back. I’d say her first appearance clearly showed her to be in the 99th percentile, and should have won her a golden ticket then and there. What did she need a “second chance” for?

My guess: They really like her, and this was their way of getting her some additional screen time and creating a little drama/story so that people will remember her.

What a whiny little turd. And he told his mom “Don’t touch me” when she went to comfort him? Bastard.

I hate when the guys beg, it pisses me off.

Dude, be a fucking man and stop crying!

And this after they gave him the best advice of his life - get a real job and start a band. They missed the “toughen the hell up if you’re going to have a career in this business” part, however.

I thought the guitar guy could sing and initially thought he might have some Castro appeal, but when he started crying, he lost me.

Nobody really knocked me out tonight. Nobody really has in any of these early auditions. I’m ready to get to Hollywood week already and started thinning the herd.

Before the season started, American Idol producers said they’d “heard” fans and would shorten the time spent on audition shows and spend more time on Hollywood week. Yet here we are again with the 3rd week of auditions. Bah! I’ll be tuning in after those are over.
