I would also like to point out that Jesus most definitely is not “the reason for the season”. He may be why you celebrate, but as this link indicates, celebrations at winter solstice have occurred for many reasons and predate christianity.

Colibri, I’m not taking on Hannukah (however it’s spelled, with or without the C) because I don’t know enough about it. Though as MEBuckner points out, that oil thing could use some looking in to.
