X2- the uncanny SPOILER thread!

Nope, Kitty Pride, aka Shadowcat.

Since the thread title says “SPOILER”, I’m not gonna bother with a box:

When Wolverine was shot in the head by the policeman, why didn’t the bullet just ricochet of his adamantine noggin? Granted, it still probably could have knocked him off his feet, but at worst, shouldn’t he have just had a flash wound to begin with? The “healing factor pushing the bullet out” was cool and all, but it seems rather inconsistent with Wolverine’s story. And didn’t they do that “put the knives down” thing in the first one, too? It seems familiar…

I thought the movie was money well spent. I particularly enjoyed the fact that none of the mutants played nice with others (especially Wolverine and Magneto). The cartoon series (which, aside form the first movie, amounts to pretty much the sum of my X-Men exposure) this wasn’t.

Given the above parenthetical statement, what is Rogue’s mutant power, anyway? Does she steal powers, or simply copy them? Given the effect on Pyro, it appears to be a “steal”-type of thing (or maybe the process is somewhat distracting, which would also explain why Pyro stopped his rampage).

Nightcrawler mentioned his teleporting ability is limited to places where he can see; I’m guessing this is a self-imposed limitation, not a real one, since he teleports to places he can’t see directly numerous times (including in the initial sequence). Is this correct?

er…that’s flesh wound…

Rogue’s power is temporarily stealing other people’s physical abilities, memories, powers, etc. It’s directly linked to how long she touches someone.

And NCB; Rogue got her flying and superstrength from Ms Marvel. She held onto her for so long that she pretty much robbed her of her abilities forever.

Ah, yes…
Geekness will come back to me. You just wait! (I’ll steal it!)

Rogue:
She steals powers. Actually, she drains other people of (life, energy, whatever) and in mutants it goes powers first, then life.

Nightcrawler:
It’s a self imposed limitation in the movie, don’t know about the comics. When he’s explaining it he says it’s because he could wind up halfway through a wall and he doesn’t want to chance it.

Yeah, but when? Hasn’t happened in the movies yet, right?

Not yet. I’m assuming that she won’t get them unless this becomes a full blown franchise.

I want more Collossus. He better be in X3. Did anyone else notice that he didn’t have a Russian accent? I was peeved.

“I vant to heelp you, Volverine.”

“No, sonny boy. You bess be hep’n dem chilluns, now.”

Sounds like Chekov and Yosemite Sam. Hey! That would be… oh well… never mind.

Y’all are just jealous that you didn’t catch the Franklin Richards folder…

true…

:frowning:

Why would Mr Fantastic be in the government file on mutants? He got his powers after he was born after being exposed to cosmic radiation.

The movie was great, but I do really hate what they’ve done with Cyclops. He is portrayed as a master tactician/strategist in the comics, a natural born leader. In both movies he has been ineffective and neutralized easily. A little thing like the thumb controls for his visor would be a nice thing to take from the comics.

A couple of questions/comment that I’ll put in boxes, even if this is a Spoiler thread.

How did Magneto know that Mystique was responsible for pumping the iron into the guard? Sensing the extra iron would be easy for him, and he could probably assume that she would be the one behind any escape attempt, but he specifically knew how she had done it. “Never trust a beautiful woman, especially if she’s interested in you.” If they were in contact then Mystique would have known how to find him herself, and give her abilities wouldn’t have had to go to so much trouble to break him out. I also think that much iron in your body would kill you, but that’s a minor quibble.

Did Jean know what was happening to her, that she is on the path to become the Phoenix? I can’t see any reason why she had to get out of the plane to perform the rescue. She could have lifted the plane from inside just as easily. The only thing I could think of is she was trying to isolate herself during her change. There were many references to her fearing her power, it might be natural for her to try and hide from her loved ones to protect them. Also, did I imagine it, or did the campfire flair when she broke contact with Nightcrawler? I swear it did, but my friend said I was imagining it.

Aesiron as a guess, because he’s the father of a powerful mutant and could be expected to be a combatant if anyone came after his son.

His son? It’s been years since I’ve been into comics.

Mr. Fantastic = Reed Richards
Franklin Richards = Reed Richards’s son = Mutant of enormous but as-of-yet untapped power (last I was aware of, he might have gotten an upgrade)

Campfire flared.

I thought maybe I had imagined it.

Ah, oops. I recognized Richards but it’s been so long that I thought it was Franklin they were talking about.

God damn it, I mean Reed. Gah.

God damn it, I mean Reed. Gah.

Just saw it…incredible movie. Just a great ride, a great flick.
Best line:
“Just what are you a professor OF?”
“Art.”
