X3 pictures released

USA today has a flash sideshow for X3 up at their site. And I must say, Kelsey Grammar looks awesome as the Beast. However…interesting, the movie may be with the new director, the effects look like they’ll be up to par.

Reactions?

Hmm. Not entirely sure Angel’s that good…but i’d have to see the flying shots to make up my mind completely on that one. And I was pretty certain Beast would be a CGI character, but that looks pretty decent for a makeup n’ mask job. Kelsey’s voice is perfect for the character, though.

Dammit, they’ve got posters up for this at my local cinema…I got all excited until I went close and saw the May release date. Argh! Evil teasing posters :frowning:

I was skeptical about Grammer when I first heard about his casting as the Beast. I know he can pull off Dr. McCoy, but I wasn’t sure about the Beast.

I am impressed by the makeup.

Ooh, I wants me some furry blue-skinned mutant Kelsey Grammar. Num.

About Halle Barry, “She returned out of fondness for her costars.” If I recall correctly, she wasn’t going to return because she was the, “big Oscar winner” and she deserved a bigger part…until “Catwoman” tanked.

What, no shots of Juggie? Or Colossus?

The X-men movies are by far my favorite comic book adaptations, so I’m getting excited about X3

Seems Jackman signed on to do a Wolverine spinoff; how cool is that? I hated Wolvie before the movies came out, but Jackman isWolverine to me now.

That’s what I thought too. If memory serves, she wanted more money and a larger role in the film. She thought her role in the films was too small.

Oh well. Movie looks good. Don’t know if I’ll see it in theaters, but I will see it.

The trailer is now up on trailers.apple.com

I haven’t been expecting much from X3, since Bryan Singer left the series to do “Superman Returns,” but that trailer is quite nice. Here’s hoping that the rather formidable cast (Halle Berry aside) manages to get past the dead weight that is director Brett Ratner to produce something worthy of the franchise.

In the Wolverine slide:

“While a fourth X-men is unlikely…”

I hope they mean for Hugh Jackman and not the series completely. Wolverine may be the most popular X-man, but there are enough others to make a worthwhile movie, I would think.

I didn’t see Gambit. Did anyone else see Gambit? They better have Gambit.

I love Gambit.

Beast looks great! Angel is OK; I’m more familiar with him as Archangel. I didn’t care for Hally Berry as Storm in the first two movies, and I probably won’t like her much in this one either. I liked Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

My first impression is that beast looks wrong. He’s too skinny for his giant head. Beast is HUGE: his character is designed so that his body fits his head.

I have some comments on the plot, but most would consider it spoilery, so I’ll be safe and box it. It’s also a gripe about the purported plot, so I don’t want to harsh anyone’s buzz unintentionally. However, I want to make plain that I know nothing actually spoilery about the actual plot itself, just the general synopsis: nothing more than will be in movie reviews and blurbs:
I’m a little miffed from what I’ve heard. The plot is supposedly going to be about a machine that removes mutations as the big plot device. Now, the thing is, I’m SICK of this storyline. In X1, we had a machine that CAUSED mutations. In X2, one that KILLED mutants via their mutation. This one, a machine removes them. This story has been done a million times in the comics and cartoons, and it’s probably one of the LESS interesting story lines, especially when it doesn’t involve anything more sinister than yet another bunch of human being villians, yet another triangle between Magneto/scared or evil humans/X-Men. It looks like the Phoenix may be along for the ride too, which isn’t a great sign either. That was only ever good the first time around in the comics, and since then has grown ever so stale. The X-Men universe has SO MANY interesting BIG stories. And if I’ve had any complaint about the X-Men movies, its that they’ve felt kind of anti-climatic and less titanic than most X-Men adventures. Knowing nothing more about the plot than I’ve said so far and having seen the trailer, I feel like I can already tell you the entire plot: not precisely event to event, but the feel of the arc.

No Apocalypse? No Sentinels? These are the obvious big ticket items for a truly blockbuster action popcorn flick. And we aint got squat so far.
Juggie is on the official X3 website. Colossus appears in the opening that shows the X-Men powerwalking through the subterranean corridors, and, since he’s got the leather costume, he’s apparently now a full-fledged X-Man.
