Kelsey Grammer as the Beast, waaaa!

Sci Fi Channel story

Oooh-kay. I would have never come up with that bit of casting.

Also, Vinnie Jones will be Juggernaut.

I think based on the voice and the types of characters Grammer has played, it’s a rather brilliant casting decision. However, I’m wondering what the hell he will look like physically as Beast.

Here’s hoping he looks as good as Andy Serkis did as Gollum.

  1. I never, ever- not in a million years- would have thought to cast Grammer as the Beast.

  2. It’s absolutely brilliant. He’s got exactly the personality to carry off Hank McCoy.

I wonder how they’re going to do his body, though?

Bingo.

Didn’t they already have someone playing Hank McCoy in X2? Brief cameo, as a television expert on mutant genetics?

Yes, they did. The actor was named Steve Bacic.

I think they’re going to have to go makeup/CGI for the Beast. There’s no way Kelsey Grammer can pull off the Beast physically, if they went for him in his human form. So they’ll probably make him up in the blue version, and CGI the action scenes. Now, which fuzzy version are they going to go for? Regular or Extra Lion-y?

Yes, but if Pyro could regenerate between movies, why can’t Hank McCoy?

I’m with all of you, it’s a flaming brilliant casting move. He has the personality and the voice to do it, but I too can only wonder what the hell they’re going to do with his looks for the movie.

I think one possibility you all are overlooking is that the original beast wasn’t the blue furball we all love. He was just an oaf of a man before he left and did his research which mutated him further, so they may simply make liberal use of prosthetics and leave him in his oaf human form.

And they also had a shot of a girl phasing to avoid the soldiers in X2.
Famke Janssen is back. So I guess there’s going to be at least some Phoenix-related plot.
[sub]not that the death-scene allegories and the play of light off the water at the end of X2 didn’t already send that message[/sub]

Maggie Grace as Kitty Pride? Shannon, from Lost?

:dubious:

Why not just use the girl they used in the first two movies? She looked fine.

Well, they already used two different girls for the movies. And Pyro was a different actor from the kid who played with the fireball in X-1, and Jubilee was different, too.

I think Kelsey Grammer is a perfect choice. Odds are, though, after all seeing it we’ll complain that we could tell when they had to use CGI for the Beast, and get all huffy abouty it, even though we say now it’s the only way to do it. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m mad that there was no mention of Gambit, though. That doesn’t mean he won’t be there, but oddsa re if he is, it’s a small role. i wodner if Sabertooth or Toad will be back? They never really resolved what happened to them.

And Angel! Sweet! As much as I would loev it to be Archangel even more, that’s unliekyl, sicne you would then have to have Apocolypse and all the crap associated with him.

Oh, and I would like to pint out that I find it funny that it took three movies before they finally had appearances by all five original X-Men.

Well to be fair, the Claremont/Byrne line-up (originated by Wein and Cockrum in Giant-Size X-Men #1) and the mixed early-'90s teams are a lot more familiar and iconic than the original Stan Lee X-Men.

Exactly. Nobody listens to us old-timers anymore.

“I want my X-Men (and only 5 of them, mind you) in blue and yellow suits!”
“I want Professor X to yell “SILENCE!” every other panel!”
“Get off my lawn!”

Ah, But X2 did have Warren’s x-rays.

So, in a way, X2 did have all five original X-men. They just weren’t all X-men… or on screen.

Another thing that irks me…it said in the article that Angel will be played by a North American actor. Huh? Warren Worthington III is ENGLISH! It better be someone who can do a damn good English accent.

He is? I’ve never heard that before. I always thought Angel was part of a rich American “old money” family, perhaps New Englanders.
