xash, I need to ask you a question. Can you come in here please?

I know you live in Bombay and my family is in Punjab but this shouldn’t make a difference.

I’d like to send my cousin-brother’s daughter a gift for Diwali. She’s only 2. Are there any American cartoon icons that are popular in India but maybe hard to get? Like I’d like to get her Spongebob (because I like him) but I’m afraid they’ll look at it and go “What the f— is this? A little square man? Why didn’t she just send almonds like in the old days?”

Any help?

Wow, lots of views. Um…I know you’re ten hours behind (at least!) so when you get a chance, thanks.

Xash is on my MSN messenger buddy list. When I spot him online, I’ll point him to this thread for ya.

I look forward to Xash’s report. In the meantime, from Nick International: India - Launched October 1999, Nickelodeon is a 24-hour kids’ channel seen via cable and reaches 17 million households in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. In July 2002, the India feed was also extended to one million homes in Pakistan. Nick India became available in Hindi from 1 June 2003.

Dopers are so nice! Thanks Q.E.D.

Papermache, I knew that they did see cartoons, but it’s been ten - no eleven - years since I’ve been, so I couldn’t remember how current they were if at all.
