Xbox 360 question

I’m in Baghdad, but I’m going to Amman for a couple of days. While I’m there, I want to buy an Xbox 360 (assuming I can find one).

If I do, are the screens likely to be in English?

Also, will Xbox 360 games bough in the US work on it?

and finally, what are the must have games (no way to play multi-player for me)?

I’ve always played PC games, my favorites are Rome: Total War, and Call of Duty (available for 360). I plan on getting Oblivion for sure.
Thanks in advance.

You should be able to set the language from the 360’s front end.

Most likely, games bought in the US will not work on a 360 bought elsewhere, because they are region locked, like DVDs. This is mentioned here.

Must have games? Of course a matter of opinion, but I think COD 2 is great. The 360 doesn’t really have a “signature” game like Halo for the original XBox - yet. If you visit http://forums.xbox.com/ there is a dedicated forum for each game, where you can see what people are saying about it.

First of all, the xbox360s sold in Amman will either be american or european models. Most likely american I should think.

The screens will almost certainly be in english so no worry there.

About compatibility, if the system is american, you’re all set. If it’s the european version, it’ll be hit and miss. Many games have no region restrictions but it is not guaranteed so you might have problems there.

as far as games are concerned, hit IGN , gamespot or 1up and look at reviews. You’re better off deciding for yourself.

Thanks All. I didn’t know Xbox games were regionally encoded. The DVDs in Amman are the North American region. Thanks again.
