Xbox live issues with Burnout 3

After much pestering from my friends on gaymer.org, I went out and bought Burnout 3. I came home, popped it in and played offline for awhile to get used to it, then plugged in from the cable modem to crash into my friends.

But, of course, I can’t seem to join any of my friends’ races.

I repeatedly got a “Unable to set up comminications” error message and then I’m kicked out of the race lobby. So I tried to join some races with people I didn’t know. No problem. I’m able to race and crash just fine.

From what I understand, you have to connect directly to each other person in your race in BO3, where as in Halo2, you just have to connect to the party leader, or whever is hosting the game.

So…my only idea is to systematically try and join a race against each of my friends untill I figure out who I have the communications issue with, and just make sure any race I join doesn’t have them in it.

I’d rather just find a way to actually fix it though, so if anyone has any suggestions, please fire away.

I don’t have a router. I connect directly from my cable modem. I’ve reset my modem. I’ve unplugged my modem and let it sit there for a while. (the only suggestions from the EA games site) Nothing works. I really don’t want to take this game back. It is quite fun and I will enjoy playing against my friends.

There are similar issues with the PS2 version as well – I guess they use the same back end setup for the two systems. On the PS2 network, you can tell if someone is going to drop because of the “communication issue” if they join and have selected a car, but the “press start to begin” message doesn’t appear. The timeout seems to be right about 20 seconds. When I’m starting a game and I see someone join, I can 99% of the time tell if they’re going to drop out. From everything I’ve read, there’s we can do from our end to improve the situation. :frowning:

A buddy of mine brings his PS2 from time to time and we both go online through a router, and we can always join each other’s game.

The BO3 community has been waiting for a long time for these issues to get fixed, but so far nothing. It HAS gotten better, but waiting for 6 people to get in the same room without problems can be very frustrating.

Of course if anybody knows of some ways to get a more stable game you’ve got another person eagerly awaiting the answer!
