Fable 1 I believe is available on XBL as a download (for the x360, in case that needed saying). It’s a pretty solid game, my friend liked it a lot more than I did. Fable 2 is basically a slightly upgraded (with a few things changed) version of it (and set in a new time period, 500 years later, with a new story and such) so it’s sometimes referred to as Fable 1.5. I personally found Fable 2 to be the more fleshed out game.
That said, Fable 1 is available, yes you can play it on the 360 (the downloadable version, anyhoo) and yea it’s pretty good
Some one mentioned it upstream , but my current game de jour is deadspace. Im only into chapter four at the moment but its gotta be one of the most interesting games I have ever played.
Mercenaries 2 is another shooter thats um, interesting , treat that one as a rental and see if its your cup of tea.
Fable 2 seemed really fun until I had to send my brand new XBox back to Microsoft for repairs because it was freezing up every few minutes. But I mean if you were one of the lucky few to get a console that isn’t a piece of shit, by all means go for Fable 2.
(Can you tell I’m pissed at Microsoft? They’re like a drug dealer who gets you hooked then starts cutting your supply with 90% baking soda)
Deadspace was a great game. A bit easy, and less “survival horror” than just “horror” but the atmosphere was very well done.
I gotta disagree with your Mercs 2 recommendation though. I found that game to be a good amount of fun, but some of the missions were just WAY too buggy for me to be able to complete it. I got stuck on the church mission (where you gotta protect the church from incoming tanks). Everytime I play that mission I start with full friendly faction status, but the stupid peons keep running in front of my recoilless rifle as I’m blasting tanks and I always, ALWAYS fail because my faction status gets too low. WHY are they running in front of a recoilless rifle to shoot at tanks with assault rifles? idiots! And that was just my latest (er, last, I guess) problem with the damn game.
Oh I friggen hated that church mission, for what its worth tho, it seems that there is only three tanks in the push when ever they come at you from the east or west. First , this if you have not completed that mission, aquire an RPG and ammo. You can sprint in the game, by pushing down on the left joystick and your going to have to.
Double tap the tanks twice with the recoilless, and move on to the next tank. Clear the assault and move on to the west side to do the same thing, repeat for the the next east push ,and then the west push and Fiona should have found the guy your looking for by then. The good part is after you save the church, if you get zapped you only have to go after the guy in the soccer stand.
Then you really, really need to check out Left 4 Dead. It’s the hottest thing going at the moment, and there’s no “shooting Nazis that are far away”, because the zombies have no regard for their own safety and rush straight at you in huge numbers. It’s very intense.
The one downside I can see is that it’s really geared toward online play; teamwork is essential to success, and someone who rushes off alone will get killed. The “4” is in the title because there are four “survivors” who must work together to get to safety. The more human players you can find to fill those slots, the better (the AI can be kinda dumb at times). Here’s the intro video so you can see what the game is sorta kinda like, or at least meet the survivors and key enemies.
yea, I beat it once and then promptly hit a bug which reset me back to BEFORE the mission, so I had to start doing it all over again. I have the strategy down, it’s just more often than not I simply CANNOT use the stupid recoilless rifles because the idiots run in front of them. I don’t lose the mission because I fail at killing tanks, I lose the mission because the guys I’m defending keep running in front of me as I’m killing the tanks, they get shot, and I go from having faction with them all the way in the green to faction all the way in the red which auto-fails the mission. It just got way too frustrating so I stopped playing
The strange thing is I got 4 games for it when I got it - it was freezing too frequently on Fable 2 and GTA 4 to even be playable. But I played Fallout 3 all the way through and only froze once. And Halo 3 never froze at all. The discs were all brand new as well so I didn’t think it was a disc problem.
Anyway I sent it to Microsoft and looking at the serial number assigned to my system now through their support website it looks like they are sending me a new console. UPS is supposed to deliver it to me today. (If this console doesn’t work I’m torching Microsoft HQ, so watch the news and you’ll know how it went)
Heh. Will do. Is it me or has MS gone downhill since Bill left?
Also, apropos of nothing whatsoever, may I just say how nice all you guys are? I have always been loathe to contribute to some of these things but this is great fun so far…
