That got me to thinking - as a geologist, I don’t think I’ve ever encountered where anyone dug their own exposure just for looking at the geology. Drilling, sure, but cuts? You wait for other people to build roads, mines, quarries, tunnels and work with those. In archaeology one digs all the time, ditto palaeontology, but not pure geology.

Wouldn’t digging require a geologist to admit they had a preference for the rocks underneath over the rocks on the top? Seems unethical

Oh, no, just removing the soil. We don’t care about that - we’re not pedos, after all.

You should be stoned for that.

Who’s to say he isn’t?

That’s a rock-solid conclusion.

That’s basalt with a deadly weapon.

Now, now, let’s be gneiss to each other here!

Gneiss or dirty talk … ?

Per “Science Made Stupid” by Tom Weller (1985)

Whoa, and tomorrow somebody will fail geology for not knowing about metaphoric rocks and travestine…

All I can say is that it went to schist pretty suddenly.

Great cite. In 1985 people would know that was BS written for humor.

Here in 2026 if that gets any publicty I expect it will be in a curriculum somewhere in the US within a couple years.

Satire is dead; our timeline merged with the all satire is all truth all the time timeline ~20 years ago. We are so doomed.

I think that even today, the rose in a bud vase, resting on the “mantle” is kinda a clue.

I do wonder if “sodomite” is a rock found on the shores of the Dead Sea.

It does have a high salt content.

“A ‘left-handed specialist’ is a physicist who studies the weak interaction.”

“Lander, this is Houston. There’s been a request that you turn clipping back on and instead set the mass to 1kg. The theorists believe that will be pretty funny.”

For those lost, “noclip” is a video game cheat code that allows objects (like asteroids) to pass through other solid objects (like walls or Earth).

Setting the mass to 1 kg…I guess that’s funny because it won’t do much damage? I don’t get that part.
