Worked for me in Firefox - though I crashed my vehicle near Niagara

Not entirely sure, but I think that happens when you’re at the balance point between gravity wells. It always wants to have the currently strongest field at the bottom of your screen.

When I view it in Firefox, all I see is a static starfield.

Maybe that’s just as well.

I crashed into the starship enterprise. Well, bounced off of really.

Alas, it’s non-functional on a Chromebook in Chrome. I can move the rocket about the screen but nothing else changes/moves/happens. Poopy.

@thorny_locust and @smithsb , the ship is supposed to start off on a launch structure on a (small) planet. Do you not see that?

And for what it’s worth, the Firefox crashes I was getting were OSX. I don’t know if anyone else is using a Mac. And I didn’t try to get it to emulate an Apple IIGS.

That’s how the preview on this site is displayed; are you clicking through to the comic itself?

Yup. [ETA: and I was before, though I just tried it again now in case there was something tiny there that I missed.]

Huh. It’s there now; but it wasn’t there before. Now it’s taking up most of the frame; I couldn’t have missed it.

Considering your experience in Firefox, though, I decided not to try playing it. Maybe I’ll try it later, in Safari on the iPad (Safari on the desktop isn’t updated.)

I’m using Firefox with recently updated Win11, but I see I’m around 3 versions behind on firefox. Zero crashes on this game so far.

I got out of my ship and then entered a black hole. You can’t escape the black hole.

How do you get out of the ship?

I’ve got the launch pad/rocket/two folks/the roll-over ‘It’s a long way down’. I can lift the rocket off the pad by holding down the mouse button and dragging it but nothing else changes. I’ve clicked all over the page. Not a big deal, Chromebooks aren’t gamish friendly.

Do you have a keyboard? Use WASD for control.

Hey, if your ship bumps into one of Newton’s cannon balls, the ship changes shape.

If you make it to the “planet” pictured above my post, there is a dot floating above the ground just to the east of the “The More You Know” symbol, at the top of the hill above the guy pushing the boulder up the hill. When I hit that marker, it ejected me from my ship and I was able to fly around as a stick figure.

I hit some soccer players somewhere and turned into a soccer ball.
Then I got stuck on a sun remnant.

Great! Thanks! Another hour wasted!!!

I’ve tried very hard to achieve stable orbits around the various bodies, and I’ve come to the conclusion that it must not be using a 1/r2 rule for its gravity.

I’m stuck on the Great Attractor.

Good idea.
