I submit this thread as proof that it is damn near impossible to get banned for trolling. This train wreck has been going on for 5 pages now, without so much as a stated position by the OP. How anyone can claim intellectual superiority at this point is beyond me.
It comes down to having to decide if Ivan is a troll, or if Ivan really is as stupid as he portray’s himself to be. I figure both.
I agree that this looks like trolling, but much like people do parody/troll posts of extreme right wing OBAMA=CRYPTOCOMMINAZI rants, these aren’t really total exaggerations, but rather somewhat representative of the extreme end of real positions- there are people that are that dumb and wholeheartedly believe what seems too dumb to be real. I think that’s what’s going on here.

They either post a single OP after stumbling upon the SDMB, or they stick around for a short period of time and passionately (yet badly) argue their side if things. As a realist, I would like to sincerely thank Ivan. Through his hard efforts he has convinced an entire message board not to read a POS UFO/conspiracy theory book. He has done more to further the cause of skepticism in the last week than I ever could have.
